Vulnerability in Veeam Backup & Replication - March 2023
Veeam has just informed it’s customers about an existing vulnerability in Veeam Backup & Replication. Unauthorized users may be able to request encrypted credentials from the VBR service, and therefore get access to the backup infrastructure. The KB articles haven’t received updates so far, but the vulnerability did get a CVSSv3 score of 7.5.EDIT: The KB article has just been published: KB4424It’s recommended to patch VBR as soon as possible!SolutionPatches have been released for VBR V11 and V12. Please keep in mind that older releases are also affected, but no longer get fixes. sharepoint "restore to" authentication error

VSPC (v7) Feature Request: Map backup jobs to customers
We run several Veeam B&R servers with multiple tenants jobs on each.Currently we manually breakdown license instanace use for each tenant.It occured to me, if we could map backup jobs to customers in Veeam Service Provider Console ( VSPC ) we could get that information quickly. In fact, we could have VSPC generate invoices for each tenant even though they are using a B&R server with other tenants.

Agent for Windows 220.127.116.110 on Windows 11: several issues
I’ve been using Agent for Windows for a long time. I’m setup to do scheduled daily Entire Computer backups to Shared Folder (on DSM) with periodic Active full backups early one morning each month, with periodic health checks one other morning each month, and with 32-days retention. It’s been rock-solid dependable. Until Windows 11, that is. On Windows 11, I’m seeing two issues:First, and most critical, is that it doesn’t seem to be respecting the periodic full backup setting or reliably respecting the 32-day retention cleanup of obsolete backups. Three months in a row now, I’ve looked the morning after the full backup was supposed to have run and found only the incremental ran--or even it didn’t run (see next issue). I’ve done full backup on request from the UI. This morning for my laptop I have at least 71 backups, full or incremental, with 33 incrementals newer than the second oldest full. The oldest full is 12/25/22--69 days old, with newer full sets on 1/30/23 (33 days) and 2/26/23

Set a file list for backup in before job script
Hi,I need to write to the tape files created during previous day. I have a script which generates that list. How can I tell Veeam, which files to write?Do I need to write script creating a new job each day or it is possible to use “before job script” for that?Thanks in advance
Question about Custom reports, VeeamOne
Hi all, As I am new to this community hub I would like to start with a discussion about the VeeamOne custom reporting. How cool would it be to collect all your favorite reports and send them in one file. Well, it’s possible but I am struggling a bit with the lay-out of the PDF, Excel file and Word file that will be generated by VeeamOne.I was hoping that it would be fixed in v12 but apparently they didn’t manage or maybe even didn’t know about it.So what is happening?By generating a report by custom report builder, the lay-out is much different then how it is supposed to be. Every grapic, every table, summary and overview will be used on one full page. We can not send this output to our clients that contains 40 pages more then nesseccary. I wonder if people are strugling with this issue and if there is a fix available.
How to create direct connection from Veeam Agents to Wasabi
Is it possible to make the traffic from Veeam Agents go directly to Wasabi instead of going through our VSPC/VCC server? This will create a lot of network traffic and engress cost for us in Azure. In the manuals it says we should create cloud connect repository (with f.ex) wasabi. Was hoping that even this sets the Cloud Connect Repository in Veeam Agents, it would understand it was an object storge and route the backuptraffic directly to Wasabi itself.
Restoring Exchange Server 2013 Item, JetError -582
Sorry to bother the community again… but today i started to do restore-tests from successfull backups and ran into JetError -582. I cant find anything about this error.What I did:I tried to restore a single item from our scheduled exchange server backup. Everything worked until the database should have been opened. The backup I tried to restore from was the most recent and finished without warnings or errors. It was an incremental backup. 3 hours before the faulty backup I did a manual incremental backup too (just for testing). Restoring items from this backup was successfull.Is there a possibility to repair the faulty backup / database / missing logfiles?Will all further incremental backups be faulty?Will a full backup solve this problem?Thankes a lot in advance :)

Hi all, anybody knows the process / next steps wrt the 2023 Veeam innovation awards ? We’ve submitted our project for web based management of multi tenancy VBO environments for Cloud Aggregators, Resellers, Integrators and Sysadmins on their own existing infrastructure. Is there a second round to present the case ? Until now we only could submit a very brief description.
Create Account Veeam
Hi, I already create an account for my client and then they should send an email of invitation link to my client email address but my client do not received the invitation link. The next step is create password for the account but I cannot proceed to the next step because my client do not received the invitation link email.I tried to re-register using the same email address but it said the email already been used. There is an option to restore access to your account, I click the option and it asked an email address. I put my client email address, but it said “Failed to send”. Is there anything I can do to login to my client account?

Windows 10 failed to backup to NAS
Hi, I tried my luck with the subreddit but I recon this is a better place for support. I was recently pointed to Veeam products for backing up my local machine onto my NAS server.The machine runs Windows 10 with no VMs, ryzen 5900x, a 2.5gb nic, and it includes 1tb ssd and 1tb nvme (OS) for backup. The pc is connected via direct ethernet to the nas (10.0.10.1)I've gone through the job configuration OK; the backup job was created successfully. E-mail setting for notification. Unable to connect to SMTP server
Hi to all,I’m not be able to set the email notification of veeam.I tried with gmail and other my domain.. but doesn’t work.The error is: Unable to connect to SMTP server because of invalid credential or settings.There is a soluton?I use community edition and windows server standard 2022Thanks
Veeam instant recovery not finalized
Hello all,This is a weird situation. A couple months ago, we had a production system issue and we used Veeam’s instant recovery to bring a database server back online. Being a small IT shop, once the server was up and available we transitioned to user support and long story short, we never finalized the restore and moved to production. Fast forward a couple of months and we were hit by a ransomware attack and all of our VM files (.vmdk, .vmx etc) have been encrypted. We were able to find a snapshot of our storage that seems to be intact from a few days before the attack, but the actual files in that snapshot for this particular server do not boot, which is what it did to trigger the instant recovery months ago.My question is, where would this VM have been running? Is there a hope of it also being on the snapshot somewhere? We do not have a well-versed Veeam person on staff, our entire IT department has been here a maximum of 4 years and none of us were involved in the deployment of thi

One of the must-have features for providing access security for any sensitive application is the ability to implement multi-factor authentication (MFA) as part of the login process. The release of Veeam Backup and V12 added the ability to enable Multi-factor authentication for logging into the Veeam console (including the remote console). The details:Before discussing the setup and configuration of MFA, we should discuss what MFA apps are supported.Veeam Backup and Replication supports Time-Based One-Time Passwords (TOTP) as per RFC 6238 installed on a mobile device. V12 Backup stuck in 90 percent
For the second time in two days backup is stuck at 90 or 91 percent. Software is running, but the backup job is stuck in concrete. I restarted veeam, I restarted veeam services and backup server, nothing helped, its stuck. I have two servers to backup. yesterday backup was stuck in win2012r2 exchange server backup; today its the win2016 fileserver. today veeam backuped the data disk successfully, but the system disk not. the exchange server is on the system disk. maybe that info helps. it seems to be a problem with backuping windows (and not data).Case-Nr.05908107
