Hey! I would like to test Veeam Backup & replication 12 to see if we want to use the software. This is the free versionNow, unfortunately, I already have problems with the installation. When I try to work with the localhost, I get the following error message: To rule out a firewall problem, I've disabled them. Unfortunately, to no avail.I tried a local user as well as a domain user. Posted in the forums here - so if there isn’t currently a way to have active/active, active/standby etc configuration for EM, what have folks been doing for distributed deployments? The primary goal here is to have a DR site come online as quickly as possible and for EM to have the highest availability one can offer.

Hi all.  There is the possibility that this weekend I might need to restore all of our domain controllers in our domain (hopefully this does not come to pass).  It is not a very active AD domain so hopefully but I might have to go back about 3 weeks to get around a problem.Can someone point me to documentation as to how to do this from within Veeam with all the DCs down?  This would mean that no dns resolution will be happening (do I have to create a hosts file on the Veeam server to get around this?).Another hiccup is that for one of the DCs, I notice now that application aware processing has not been turned on so it is going to be restored as just a member server without any special processing for the AD database.Thanks.

Hello, I would like to use CDP to replicate my VM from DC to DRC, I have 2 vcenter on DC and DRC. I have already installed VBR server on DC site So do I have to install I/O in each vcenter (DC & DRC) by using Veeam console in DC or I just have to install I/O in vcenter on DC ? Thank you

Hello!I am new here, hope you don't mind my ignorance!!I am looking for some detailed steps/instructions to implement and achieve my data backup goals for a personal/home based setting. I Have quite a few kinds of devices in my home. couple of windows laptops, couple of iPads, couple of iPhones, an android phone, may be a macbook pro in the future. I don't find it practical to connect separate USB external hard disks to each of these devices to back them up. So, what i am thinking to achieve instead is - if all of these devices can connect to a NAS, use one big drive say 6/8 TB and create individual folders to create separate backups of each of the devices, that is the ideal solution i am looking for. I haven't decided yet on what model of NAS do i need. Any recommendations welcome! I am planning to use this NAS

Veeam 12.1 Community Edition running on Windows Server 2022 Standard.The host is Hyper-V.  The repository is on a QNap.  This is a new installation.  I’m getting the following error when backing up a VM:Error: Failed to call RPC function 'FclsExists': The user name or password is incorrect The passwords for the repository and Hyper-V host are both confirmed good, as I was able to add, remove, and add them, again, to Veeam.  Thanks, Chris

Forgive me, as this isn’t strictly a Veeam topic, but I’m pulling my hair out.I’m trying to enhance a Windows Update Powershell script. The current script occasionally hangs when we invoke a COM CreateUpdateSearcher() method.$updateSession = new-object -com "Microsoft.Update.Session"$Criteria = "IsInstalled=0"$updates = $updateSession.CreateupdateSearcher().Search($criteria).UpdatesThis runs synchronously, so I can’t trap the hang. Instead, I want to use the BeginSearch() method that runs asynch (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/api/wuapi/nf-wuapi-iupdatesearcher-beginsearch). My problem is it requires an ‘IUnknown ISearchCompletedCallback’ object to be passed as one of the parameters. I don’t need this to be invoked

Actually, we installed veeam plugin for SQL server on SQL server and configured also, but not appeared the secondary repository as NAS server or etc. it is show only default backup repository.why it is not configure? and how to configure the secondary repository in veeam plugin on SQL server ?please suggest.   

This Linux server was working before on Veeam v9.5.  I upgraded to v12 and it hasn’t worked since.  I will say my old v9.5 server died, so I started from scratch a new v12 server.  I uninstalled the old Linux agent from the command line and reinstalled using yum.  I can run ‘sudo veeam’ and the agent app runs fine.  I couldn’t get Veeam to install the agent on its own.My Veeam Backup & Replication server is unable to connect to this Linux host.  It does a Rescan and fails:“Failed to process 1 host processedJob finished with error”I have no firewalls enabled on the Linux server or the Windows Veeam server.  I can’t figure this out.  Spent hours on it.  Created a ticket yesterday but haven’t heard back from Veeam yet.  I’d love to figure this one out to get the win. lol.Agent OS: Linux Oracle Linux Server 8.9Veeam B&R: Windows 2019 Server v12.1.1.56 Any troubleshooting tips?

Hello, I have version 12 installed on a Server in our domain.  I have checked the users and roles area and am unable to determine how this is happening, but anytime I enter correct active directory credentials for a user, I am able to authenticate in the console and it works fine?  What can I do to resolve this?

Good afternoon all.I have been working on a project for a client over the past two months which included the client having move over to Veeam from an old outdated backup solution.The client has an external RDX drive with 2TB RDX cartridges, one for each day of the week.  Currently their backups have been failing as of two weeks ago with the report clearly indicating lack of free space on the RDX cartridge.  When checking, old backups from Feb are still there and have not been purged.Currently I have a repository setup to the F:\ drive (external RDX drive) which the “Backup Job” saves too.The job itself is backing up the whole VM from Hyper-V, it has a 3 restore point retention policy, and is set to Incremental with create active full backups on Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs, and Fri.  All other advanced settings are left as default.Can someone help me understand why the older jobs from Feb aren’t being purged out pertaining to the retention policy?T

One of the biggest mysteries of Veeam’s list of features in my opinion is the Backup Copy Job. On the surface, they’re easy to understand – you create a Copy Job, use some supported backup source, and copy this source VM data to a designated target to implement part of the 3-2-1(-1-0) Rule – have multiple copies of your data and/or at least 1 offsite copy of your data. Easy, right? Well, when you look under the hood of the technology behind the retention, scheduling, interval, etc. things start to get murky pretty quick, at least for me. The most difficult to understand about Copy Jobs in my opinion is how the retention algorithm works when using the GFS (grandfather-father-son) archive option. And with the changes brought to Copy Jobs with the release of Veeam v11, I believe things got worse instead of better. As such, I thought it would be beneficial to the Veeam Community for me to go through the Backup Copy process from a deep-dive perspective, and see if I can make a bit more c
