If I upgrade to Veeam v11 to v12, the storage target is ExaGrid appliance (the backup flow is directly write to this appliance), what are the software requirements for ExaGrid Appliance, e.g. firmware? Please help.

If you plan to migrate the virtual machine clustering with shared VMDK from vSphere 6.7 to 7.0, please prepare the requirements of clustered VMDK on vSphere 7.0, then you can migrate the virtual machine into the vSphere 7.0 otherwise the clustering services of virtual machine cannot start up. vSphere 7.0 introduces support for the use of VMDKs on clustered datastore as shared disk resources for a WSFC. Using VMDKs reduces the extra overhead to manage the virtual disks compared to pRDMs. You can enable clustered VMDK support when you create a new VMFS6 datastore, or enable clustered VMDK on an existing VMFS6 datastore. Before enabling clustered VMDK support, ensure all hosts connected to the datastore are using ESXi 7.0 or later and are managed by vCenter 7.0 or later. Under General go to the Datastore Capabilities section. Click the Enable button for Clustered VMDK. We will consider how to plan and design the cyber-resilient architecture for data recovery across three separate locations; will discuss the high-level and low-level design of this data recovery solution. This cyber-resilient architecture includes software-defined storage (SDS), unified backup and recovery software and backup hardware appliance. Last month I got a POC request from my customer, they are looking for a new data protection solution to replace their current backup solution. The requirements are below.Backup storage should come with encryption and immutable features. The backup data retention is 31 days in on-perm. We target to have 7 days or more in object storage which will be managed by Cloud Service Provider. SQL transaction log backup will be happening for every 15 mins. For SQL backup, only backup the SQL instance and copy it into the object storage. The Cloud Service Provider cannot access the backup data directly from object storage Keep one data copy in two separate object storages. If both Veeam Backup Server and Veeam Respository are attached by ransomware, we can restore data from the object storage to the production server in HQ.
