The sale of new perpetual per-socket licenses for Veeam Availability Suite™ (VAS) and Veeam Backup & Replication™ (VBR) will be discontinued effective Dec. 31, 2022.

In further support of offering broader, more capable and more hybrid options, Veeam will introduce two new updates coming in force on Jan. 1, 2023, including:

  • Simplified migration from perpetual sockets to VUL
    • Simple price and out-year price protection with no complex calculations and fewer restrictions
    • Offered at same price as perpetual renewal with channel incentive options
    • Greater recurring revenue, broader capability and less churn for increased partner reward
  • Subscription socket SKUs to meet the needs of customers with high-density environments
    • Same capability as perpetual sockets, but offered in subscription packaging

So they are replacing it with subscription sockets instead.  Be interesting to see how the change goes.
