Solved

Hi,Does anybody has encountered the following odd situation: Situation (a): QNAP NAS full/over quota. When running the Veeam backup, it fails as expected reporting that the target directory is full.Situation (b): QNAP NAS with very little space (32MB left of 2TB). When running the Veeam backup, it hoses the NAS ....Top  Where in the second situation the QNAP NAS can no longer be accessed.  Any already attached ssh session becomes ‘stuck’ as soon as it tries to access the disk.  Also the number of smb process on the QNAP NAS keeps increase over-time. I have a Windows 10 machine with Veeam 11.0.1.1261 running backups remotely to a SMB shared on a QNAP with QTS 5.0.1.2194. Is there anything that I can do to prevent this from happening (i.e. actually get an error from Veeam in the second situation rather than an unresponsive NAS)?Thanks.

Hi, my friends! How to customize customize backup job notification email on Veeam 12?

Oppure esistono altre strade migliori?Grazie a tutti e buona giornataMaury

Hello,I am facing problem to validate location profile with GCS configuration. My Kubernetes Cluster is behind http proxy and I can’t see any http proxy configuration when I install K10. Is there anyone ever faced like this, please share your way 🙏

Hello community.I'm testing Veeam's immutability proposal using an XFS repository on Linux. Everything works great, but I have the following doubt: How does cleaning old immutable backups work?I've noticed that the test repository is running out fast, I'm cleaning it manually as root, but I'd like to know how to deal with this situation. Thanks

I foolishly used an IP address for a ‘temporary test system’ which became a permanent fixture.A change of network schema means the repository is now on a new address. It does not appear to be possible to change the IP address in VEEAM (I should have used a fqdn). I could start again with new backups - but is there a method to resume backups to the same repository after re-defining it? All advice welcomed.Latest v11

In version 11 we could open the properties of a tape and check on tab Jobs to see which sessions are on this particular tape. We used this to note on the case label and could keep track on which tape has the oldest data. Now we have upgraded to version 12 but this information isn't shown anymore on the Jobs tab at the Tape Properties. How can we enable this information to be shown again. We use a HP Autoloader tape library and Veeam Backup and Replication.

I did a lot of testing with B&R 12 already and I learned a lot so far. But yesterday I ran into a new problem. I have my Backup Server which runs Veeam B&R 12 as domain administrator (using windows authentication to open and run Veeam). Then I have a backup repository on an other machine in my LAN. This machine is equiped with a Tandberg RDX drive. I run full backup jobs every day on these rotating drives. The job shall delete all backups on the disk and run a fresh full backup. This does not work for some reason. So I delete the RDX disks manually (via Windows scheduler) and considered this could be done with a Veeam Pre-Job-Script too. Well, it wont work. I use psexec64.exe to delete content on the machine with the RDX drive. The scipt (.cmd) I wrote works fine under my admin account. No problems when i launch it in cmd or simply double-click it. Script does what it shall do. For some reason this script does not work as Pre-Job-Script. I belive its a problem with a lack of pr

Hello Everyone, After renaming the server, Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager did not change the target patch, so when I click on the shortcut, it tries to open a web address through my old hostname, can I change my host without deleting anything? It should be like this  https://hostname:9443 I changed the IIS site bindings, but this did not change the shortcut, when I type the correct link, I can open it on the web

hi all… has anyone tried to restore a confidential VM instance in Google cloud? IS it possible? I can’t find anythings in Veeam documentation. thanks

Hi all, I need your help to know a specific info for the subject pillar. We are preparing proposals for a client which will have to decide a DR solution between Veeam and VmWare SRM. I know both VMware SRM and Veeam with VDRO are great products.VMware SRM is focuses on DR/BC of VM but without application aware  Veeam includes application aware consistency. I add some better features than SRM for me. Failover plan with ordered start Sure-Replica LOW RPO in 2 seconds CDP feature VDRO with dynamic documentationSo I ask you which SRM features can be better than Veeam B&R? Thanks for your reply

Hello to all,I would need a advice or a suggestion what would be the best way to setup our backups. We have two sites, one in Vienna, Austria and another one is in Novi Sad, Serbia. We have Synology RS3621xs+ with 80TB on both location.Currently what we have configured is that Backups are going straight to NAS in Vienna and its being sync with Synology built in app Synology Share Sync to our NAS in Novi Sad, Serbia.I tried with Veeam Backup Copy Job through WAN Accelerator but as our biggest VM is 7TB its not that efficient. Please if you have a solution or a suggestion feel free to comment. Any help would be appreciated.

I recently did an “unscheduled rebuild” of my cluster and restored K10 using the disaster recovery process outlined in the docs. I did run into an issue with a couple of the restore pods hanging waiting for a volume to be created so worked around this by manually creating the pvc and that allowed the restore to complete successfully.  I mention this because I suspect that might have something to do with the current issue I face which is the ‘media’ namespace backup is failing nightly with the following error.  - cause: cause: cause: cause: cause: message: "[PUT /artifacts/{itemId}][409] updateArtifactConflict &{Code:409 Message:Conflict. Cause: Key collision. UserMessages:[]}" fields: - name: artID value: 38c0aa5e-c56f-11ec-98a8-02e5dc1cf223 file: kasten.io/k10/kio/rest/clients/catalogclient.go:363 function: kasten.io/k10/kio/rest/clients.UpdateArtifact linenumber: 363

I’ve been using Agent for Windows for a long time. I’m setup to do scheduled daily Entire Computer backups to Shared Folder (on DSM) with periodic Active full backups early one morning each month, with periodic health checks one other morning each month, and with 32-days retention. It’s been rock-solid dependable. Until Windows 11, that is. On Windows 11, I’m seeing two issues:First, and most critical, is that it doesn’t seem to be respecting the periodic full backup setting or reliably respecting the 32-day retention cleanup of obsolete backups. Three months in a row now, I’ve looked the morning after the full backup was supposed to have run and found only the incremental ran--or even it didn’t run (see next issue). I’ve done full backup on request from the UI. This morning for my laptop I have at least 71 backups, full or incremental, with 33 incrementals newer than the second oldest full. The oldest full is 12/25/22--69 days old, with newer full sets on 1/30/23 (33 days) and 2/26/23

Further to my earlier question about backing up between networks, I tried to start removing the Veeam components that are installed on the Hyper-V hosts.  One of the hosts is being a real pig and will not remove with error ‘Connecting to installer service Error: The RPC server is unavailable.’  On checking, the Veeam Installer Service is not running and will not start with an errors 7009 and 7000.  Trying to delete the service as per KB2263: Failed to start service ‘VeeamDeploySvc’ - The system cannot find the file specified. does not work either!  Any suggestions on how to manually remove Veeam components from this host? Slight curveball is that it is Windows Server Core 2019.Thanks!

Running the https://docs.kasten.io/tools/k10_primer.sh  for Kasten 10 I eventually get Validating Provisioners: driver.longhorn.io:  Is a CSI Provisioner  -  OK  CSI Provisioner doesn't have VolumeSnapshotClass  -  Error  Storage Classes:    longhorn      Valid Storage Class  -  OK I’m running Longhorn 1.2.4 and according to this (https://kubernetes-csi.github.io/docs/drivers.html) it looks like I need v1.5 for a CSI driver? But Longhorn only goes up to 1.4.0. How do I get this rectified? This product looks extremely useful for our environment.

Hello Everyone,I pass the VMCE exam today. Anyone can help me how can I get the certification? I need to submit the certifcation as documents one of my upcoming project. Thanks in Advanced.

Hi.So, I have got an issue with my K8 cluster where Kasten K10 has made snapshots, and then I have done an ETCD restore to a time before these were created, so the VolumeSnapshots/VolumeSnapshotsContent record are not present for Ceph RBD snapshots that exist in my RBD pool. This leaves orphaned snapshots in my Ceph cluster that I can’t easily remove. Does anyone have any ideas how I can find and remove these orphaned images?I was thinking:Within K8 Storage → Persistent Volumes, output all Persistent  Volumes, grep the section:  csi: controllerExpandSecretRef: name: rook-csi-rbd-provisioner namespace: rook-ceph driver: rook-ceph.rbd.csi.ceph.com fsType: ext4 nodeStageSecretRef: name: rook-csi-rbd-node namespace: rook-ceph volumeAttributes: clusterID: rook-ceph imageFeatures: layering imageFormat: "2" imageName: csi-vol-cdb2ac07-6a0b-11ed-87d9-2e16f5b6210e journalPool: replicapool pool: replicapool storage.kubernetes.i

I'm messing with Kasten on a K3s running OpenEBS cStor.I realized that is not possible to restore a Snapshot overriding the current running Pods whereas for a new NS is. Is this expected? Here is the error messages: MountVolume.MountDevice failed for volume "pvc-c4a1261a-3c51-4861-9985-30c65651440c" : rpc error: code = Internal desc = Volume pvc-c4a1261a-3c51-4861-9985-30c65651440c is not ready: Replicas yet to connect to controllerUnable to attach or mount volumes: unmounted volumes=[mypod], unattached volumes=[mypod kube-api-access-ghlgg]: timed out waiting for the condition

Hello,I have updated some of the V12 VBR servers with the patch from Tuesday. The server is running and backups are possible. But I see on all servers a warning for a system process ( Veeam Console → History Tab → System). Are you seeing this warning/error, too? Edit:Seems to be a timing issue with both V11 and V12.The next planned execution of the Catalog Cleanup on day later runs successfully. So, It’s a “cosmetic” issue.

Hi, I have VBR11. Have added Debian vm to Physical Infrastructure. Agent and other linux components were installed successfully. Added account with sudo privilege. When I try to create backup of Entire Machine/Volume or even File Based I get error : Error: Failed to execute agent management command startBackup. table JobSessions has no column named end_time Unable to run query. which leads me to nothing. What seems to be a problem?

Hi,I need to write to the tape files created during previous day. I have a script which generates that list. How can I tell Veeam, which files to write?Do I need to write script creating a new job each day or it is possible to use “before job script” for that? Thanks in advance

Buongiorno.

Create a knowledge graph with data from my Veeam backup servers in order to verify that backups were configured and running for intended VMs. For example: The data could be compared via query against data in your IT Asset Management that defines which machines are supposed to be protected. You may find it helpful to also have your VMware data within your graph

I’m a bit confused as to where the line is drawn between VEEAM and S3 compatible cloud storage providers and their data protection settings. Does VEEAM do the settings for data retention and immutability, or should those be set in the cloud storage provider bucket? Or is it a mash up of both?AKA; I can set Immutability in WASABI at the bucket. If I do not set the bucket immutability there, will VEEAM set it for me if it is configured for immutability or retention?I’m trying to figure out who controls the data lifecycle / protection. Or what the correct way to manage it is.Thanks, *Dave
