The database simply freezes and Veeam needs to be restarted. We discovered that disabling Offload for the current Service Provider completely stops the problem from occurring. VBR RAM/CPU resources remain without overload. The database loses communication, and as a solution, we need to restart the postgres service. Veeam Version 12.3.2.4165 PostgreSQL Version 15.14-1 We have implemented these changes so far: Set-VBRPSQLDatabaseServerLimitshttps://helpcenter.veeam.com/archive/backup/120/powershell/set-vbrpsqldatabaseserverlimits.html AV & FirewallRunning & Installing PostgreSQL On Native Windows - PostgreSQL wiki We discovered that disabling Offload for the current Service Provider completely stops the problem from occurring. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem? I still don't understand why Offload locks the database.I'm looking at the database level, searching for Buffer Maxwritten Clean alerts and the like. Hi All, Job type on Prod is forever forward incremental on Disk - ReFS formatDR has a repo in XFS formatI’m setting up a new Veeam environment and using Cloud Connect to copy backups from Prod site to DR (single tenant / one client). On the Cloud Connect side, the XFS repository is assigned 100TB and the actual storage usage is only around 56TB.However, the Backup Copy Jobs keep reporting that the cloud repository quota is filling up / quota exceeded, even though there should be plenty of space available. As a workaround, I increased the tenant quota on cloud connect server from 100TB to 150TB, and after that the copy jobs started working normally again and has used like 130TB. But this doesn’t make sense because: The physical repo capacity is still 100TB Actual used space is still ~56TB Yet Veeam has used 130TB of space Has anyone seen this before? Thanks!
What happened to the Status column when viewing a backup job’s statistics? After upgrading to version 13, I no longer see this column. If a backup object fails, the job shows failed however you have to view each backup object in the job to see which one failed. Prior to v.13, the status column would show which object failed. Was this intended in v.13 or am I missing it somewhere?
I get this errors on one of my clients VBR. Fails when running the copy job to our Qnap NAS running Quts Hero, Immutable setup with Quobjects. When it fails we don’t have several copy jobs running at the same time.Any ideas of what i can try next to solve this?
Good day, everyone,I am seeking assistance in identifying the best method for migrating to new hardware.Current Environment:DC-A to DC-B bi-directional Veeam replication Old HP servers running Veeam Old HP StoreOnce appliances used as Catalyst repositoriesNew Hardware:New HP servers and HPE StoreOnce appliances procuredRequirements:Build two sets of new Veeam/HPE StoreOnce environments at DC-A Migrate old DC-A Veeam/HPE StoreOnce to new DC-A Veeam/HPE StoreOnce Migrate old DC-B Veeam/HPE StoreOnce to new DC-B Veeam/HPE StoreOnce Establish bi-directional Veeam replication between the new environments Decommission old Veeam/HPE StoreOnce hardware once backup and restore jobs are validatedBased on my previous experience with Veeam/Data Domain migrations, I have outlined the following proposed migration strategy for HPE StoreOnce Catalyst repositories. I would appreciate your input to validate this approach:Use HPE StoreOnce native Catalyst copy replication to replicate both repositories f
Hello! I am attempting to set up SureBackup to test backups of VMs from my Hyper-V environment in a way that mimics production and simulates interactions of VMs in separate, routed subnets, but I am running into issues setting up the isolated network’s NICs on the proxy appliance. It is unclear if I’m misunderstanding the setup documentation or if I am running into a limitation caused by the logical network of my Hyper-V cluster. My Hyper-V hosts have a single logical switch for VM traffic with all VLANs trunked to it from the physical switch that the hosts are connected to. Each VLAN has a unique subnet of varying size, mostly /24 but there are some /23 and /27 networks.I am trying to create a Virtual Lab in advanced single-host mode with an isolated network for each subnet containing a VM being tested, with the proxy appliance acting as the router for each subnet. The two subnets I am testing with are:192.168.124.0/23 (VLAN 124) 192.168.196.32/27 (VLAN 209)I am mapping these VLANs to V
Hi All,My customer would like to continue to use an external USB hard drive as a backup repository on the new DELL physical VSA server they have stood up. It’s look as though it’s not supported in this release, but they would like confirmation that it’s on the roadmap for future releases.Any ideas? Thanks!
we have a Synology DS1621+ and im looking for some guidance on setting up and enabling immutable storage and setting up a backup job. i’ve looked on the net can’t really find anything. we already backup into an offsite location but i am looking for something on prem as well, i’m trying to implement the 32110 rule for our school. any help could be appreciated
I attended the Veeam Toronto event recently and met some great people there and thought it might be time to join the Community. Nice to be here and hope to spend some time giving back in the future. For now, trying to work my way through the Veeam 13 upgrade as it’s the first where I’ve run into a major issue since starting with 9.5.I upgraded VeeamONE, Backup Enterprise, then B&R from 12.3 to 13 yesterday. I have run into a couple of issues and currently have a support ticket open but thought I would highlight some growing pains here as well as ask if anyone has seen this yet. The B&R upgrade process went smoothly until I got to the point where I opened the new console.First problem, logged in and console opened fine(after running as Administrator) but I lost access to my Nutanix AHV clusters and backup proxy machines int the backup infrastructure. I have a mix of AHV and VMware clusters and the VMware side had no issues - my B&R VM and another Windows-based proxy use
I have this Quantum LTO 9 HH rack mounted tape drive connected to an ATTO 12GB SAS HBA on a windows 2019 server. I see the ATTO card in device manager but I do not see the tape drive there. I dont see any lights on the ATTO card or on the SAS port on the tape drive. Wondering if anyone could help me to get the tape drive seen by the system. Once I install Veeam (tomorrow) will Veeam install a driver for the tape drive or is there another issue here? Thanks!
Hi everyone,When we enable encryption in the proxy's transport mode, the ESXi host will actually perform the encryption before sending to the proxy. I'd like to know if there's a formula to determine how much CPU we should allocate to the host. Does anyone have this information?
HI folks,We are increasingly deploying Hyper-V environments following recent changes in VMware’s pricing model. In my designs, I typically separate production and backup infrastructures into dedicated VLANs.However, when using an on-host configuration, applying this architecture means that traffic will inevitably pass through the firewall, which could lead to excessive load and negatively impact backup performance. The most straightforward approach today is to implement both Veeam and Hyper-V components within the same subnet to avoid any routing. How are you currently handling this in your environment?
I'm having an issue I don't know how to resolve. Before I contact support I thought I'd throw it up here after searching for solutions. Topology: Veeam server on a hypervisor VM with 2 virtual NIC (one for the main computer network w/ dhcp and one isolated backup subnet with no dhcp). The isolated subnet ports all exist on the same L2 managed switch. The veeam server can ping and ssh into the hard repo. Hard repo is Ubuntu server 22.04 LTS connected to the backup subnet. On both systems, the backup subnet only has a static IP (no DNS or gateway). Issue: I can successfully add the hard server. I can create the repo. Any backup jobs fail because it can't connect on port 2500. I pulled the hard repo out of the isolated subnet and into my main computer data subnet with DHCP. I was able to successfully add the hard server and perform a backup without changing anything. Question: Is there a specific reason I can't get this working in the isolated subnet? I run a NAS in this same fashion and
Hi teamMay I have your thoughts?I would like to decide on what is most effective. In the existing environment, AHV VM are backed up with VM based backup. But the Nutanix cluster also has existing protection domains for off-site replication. The new cluster will still have protection domains so I am wondering if I should back these up instead going forward and not do a VM based one. I believe this will be more effectiveCheers
Hi teamThis is my first attempt at this and seeing some issues.I am deploying an AHV cluster. I am doing the proxy\backup appliance install as part of this process.I point to the name of Prism Element cluster, not Prism CentralI get a warning that says failed to register Nutanix AHV Cluster: Failed to refresh entities. The process completes, cluster appears and I can open the Nutanix console from the VBR console.I verify that the specified account worksThe proxy appears as unavailable. I open the Veeam backup for Nutanix AHV console. This logs in with same account as specified.Under Administration > Infrastructure the cluster shows its state as unavailable. But it allows me to open the cluster console from here. When I rescan the proxy I do not get any errors. When I rescan the AHV cluster, I see the followingFailed to scan VMs: Unknow Socket ErrorFailed to scan PDs: Unknown socket ErrorFailed to scan Volume Groups: Unknown socket ErrorFailed to scan Protection Domains: Unknown socket E
I was asked this week what some of the prompts we are seeing in the field for Veeam Intelligence are. Many people, including myself, have demonstrated asking how-to questions and responding in their native languages. So I wanted to put out there…What questions have you asked Veeam Intelligence on premises and in Veeam Data Cloud? Let me know what you asked and what kind of response you received. You might make it in my next blog post 😉
Veeam Vs 12.3.I made an Surbackub Job with an Applicationgroup and:1 DC in authoriative mode1 Exchange Server 2019 Cu 14No Internet Acces, No Proxy. Hyper V. the VMs are running but Windows Firewall Service is DISABLED. I read about it, that Winodws FW make this because Veeam use isolated network. However how can I test serious with such environment? I tried with PSH and Registry Keys to enable WFH Services to autmatic and yes it changes, but when I wann start Service it comes error “no Device” Set-NetFirewallProfile -Profile Domain,Public,Private -Enabled TrueAND Reg Key I wanna test Exchange CU 15 (SE) and prereq check fails beucase no control to FW serives (mpsvc or similair error). SureBackup is useless if this not working. Thanks for any advices!
I have asked this before, but I’ll ask again: I need to write a report about tapes that currently in my library that are FULL. This command, unfortunately, is monumentally slow:$TapesToBeEjected = Get-VBRTapeMedium -Library $LibraryName | Where {{$_.IsFull -eq $TRUE}} | Select Name, LastWriteTime, MediaPoolID, IsFull, Location | Sort -Property MediaPoolID, NameSo rather than querying the all the tapes that Veeam has ever used (I have over 1300), I figure it will be faster to just query the library for the tapes *currently* in the slots and drives (that will be about 80). Then I can do the $_.IsFull on just those. But I am not seeing a command that seems to do that. Is there one, that queries the library and returns tapes in slots and drives?Otherwise I would have to loop though Get-VBRTapeMedium -Library $LibraryName , select only $_.Location = Slot or Drive, and then re-select for $_.IsFull.And I don't think that would be materially faster. Is there a better way to get the info I need?
This is not a "little" upgrade but with a list of Security Vulnerabilities solved. So, check the article and patch your backup environment. https://www.veeam.com/kb4738
Dear Community, What could be the issue? While upgrading Veeam Software to the latest Version 13 All Services , All jobs, and everything are stopped.

Hi VC,Happy new year first of all!I’m currently backing up a SQL VM via the Veeam SQL Plugin to a datastore within my production environment, at the same time I’m replicating said VM via CDP to my DR site.I’ve currently setup the following schedule via the Veeam SQL Plugin:15 minute transaction / log backupDaily differential backup @ 18:30 (except Sunday)Weekly full backup (Sunday) @ 18:30The differential backups are failing when the CDP is enabled; the CDP runs 24-hours a day as we need near-zero dataloss.Any ideas how I can have these two running at the same time without the errors above? Many thanks,LGH
So turns out using Deployment Kit is the easiest way to be able to perform FLR to Windows from a Vsphere backup.Deployment kit by default contains a certificate of validity 1 month. Does the agent (transport service etc.) stop working after that? How do we manage those certs as we generally do not do many agent-based backups but want to be able to do FLR to original destination nevertheless. Thanks!
Version: 12.3.2.Problem: a copy job to a rotation drive (HDD) is running since 3 days. I stopped job and confirmed with yes, but since hours status in dashboard running jobs is “stopping”. I can disable job but not delete. What I did: restart B&R services, reopen console. Restarted whole backup server. no success. Thanks for any advices.
Turns out that VCSP licensing for Entra for a tenant which is a multi tenant organization can become very expensive very fast… Here’s the situation, a holding with 70 employees. (nice Microsoft E5 licenses) there is a central IT and HR department that shares information to their subisidaries which are connected in multi tenant organization structure to see availability, better collaboration in Teams,…. Now we ran our initial Entra ID backup and it consumes 1200 points, where I assumed that only the real physical users with the E5 were going to eat a license. All those users fron the external tenants are of the type ‘membe’ in Entra, so this is used to calculate the number of licenses. It becomes even more expensive I think since we need for compiancy reasons also an Entra ID backup from all the subsidary tenants… Anybody any toughts on this ? I don’t see any option to soley backup the member users for which their tenant is their primary main tenant.
