Veeam setup Engine upgrade error 12.1.2 on PostgresSQL

hello everyone,I'm trying to install the update from both executable and ISO always returns this error.- Veeam with PostgresSQL DatabaseInstead if I launch the same executable with a SQL database it works.has it happened to anyone yet? Is there any bug?thx p.s.solved by stopping the following services

what is the best way to backup a 2 node cluster SQL VM

Regarding the backup configuration for a 2-node cluster with SQL Always On: Am i doing the correct process for backup  ?add the cluster in the protection group. Create the backup job as a Failover cluster. Backup entire computer. Enabling guest processing for taking SQL Backup & Log backups. Concerning restoration:What are the types of restores that can be performed ? How to perform the restore the complete failover cluster and the SQL  Application with Always on using Veeam if the failover cluster servers are crashed.

11a P20240304 Upgrade to 12.1.2.172 P20240515 fails with "Version string portion was too short or too long"

I’m running 11a on an Enterprise sub on Server 2016. Initially, I was trying to upgrade 11a (11.0.1.1261 P20230227) to the latest 12.1.2 via ISO, but later I updated to 11.0.1.1261 P20240304 just to see if the 12.1.2 upgrade would work.Everything is fine until after I select my license. At that point, I get the error that “Version string portion was too short or too long. (Parameter 'input')” and the installer crashes out. I’ve got a support case open, but it’s been a week and we aren’t making any progress. I’m wondering if anyone else has come across this? Should I just uninstall everything and then hope the existing DB will update successfully when I install 12.1.2 and point it to the DB?[ERROR] System.ArgumentException: Version string portion was too short or too long. Can you run the AWS Backup Appliance on-prem?

We have Veeam Backup and Rep.  We are currently backing up vSphere VMs and AWS EC2 instances (using Veeam agents).We want to start backing up the AWS EC2 instances without the Veeam agents.  In the deployment guides, it looks like you have to deploy an EC2 instance called “Veeam backup appliance.”We have a site-to-site VPN between our on-prem and AWS tenant.Is there any reason the appliance couldn’t be in vSphere?  Does its existence in AWS allow it some additional access that it can’t get while in vSphere?

Cant install veeam B/R

Trying to install Veeam 12.1.2.172… from a downloaded ISO.   Setup goes to the 2nd screen, to tell me that it needs to be run by an account with Local Admin privs. Same result on 3 machines - 1 physical and 2 VMs.  Two standalones and 1 Domain connected. OS: Windows Server 2025.26227   Any ideas?

I have a different error- Failed to index guest file system. Failed to zip folder 'c:\users\.....Appdata\Local\Temp\GuestIndexData.zip. I am seeing the below warning on backup jobs. We have VEM installed so cannot disable Guest indexing. Backup will complete successfully with this warnings. Using Domain admin account for Guest processing and indexing. Warning :Failed to index guest file system. Failed to zip folder 'C:\Users\tn\AppData\Local\Temp\66ddcb73-b3b1-4fea-8333-ffa67ef9aace' to file 'C:\Users\tn\AppData\Local\Temp\66ddcb73-b3b1-4fea-8333-ffa67ef9aace\GuestIndexData.zip'VBRCatalog is saved in C: drive and have 386 GB free of 599 GBVBR 12.1 version VEM 12.1 Please advise.

How to Mark a Backup to not be deleted

Had a system go down it is backed up with Veeam however I need to ensure that the last backup is not deleted automatically. I inherited this system recently and have not had time to explore it. I am waiting on my support purchase to go through to get assistance but this is critical that I don’t loose this back up file. I found the option to export it and did that. But how to I tell Veeam not to delete it? This seems like it should be a simple Right click mark as don’t delete. Am I missing something. Any help appreciated.

Failed to save Veeam CDP proxy: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it

I’ve been googling and am about to open a support case, but I’m checking here first.  I have just built my first linux proxy servers using Ubuntu 22.04 LTS.  Super easy, works great.  Except I have two more that I’m trying to build as CDP proxy’s.  I can setup as regular VMware Proxy’s, but when I attempt to install the CDP Proxy, I get the below errors.Error    Failed to save Veeam CDP proxy: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it <IP Address>:6182Error    Infrastructure item save failed Error: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it <IP Address>:6182 This is my first time using Linux CDP proxy’s.  I did have Windows Proxy’s in place but was having an issue with starting the CDP service on those machines after upgrading to 12.1 and decided to just remove those VM’s because they were 2012 R2 and are being replaced/retired anyway.  Unfortunately, I’m not super well-versed in Linux so I’m learning here.  T

Community edition commandline option

I am trying to figure out how to use Veeam Community edition from the DOS commandline. The application mentioned in https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/agentforlinux/userguide/backup_job_start_cmd.html?ver=60, so veeamconfig job start --name <job_name>, is however absent on my system.Is this a Community edition limitation?

How to configure proxies for two way DR?

I am trying to understand how to deploy Veeam Backup and Replication in 2 DC’s hosting with VMware Virtual Infra in an active-active environment. Scenario VMs being replicated from DC1 → DC2 and DC2 → DC1 both requiring near-zero and CDP. Number of replicated VMs in each DC is between 20-30 and data size is 6-10TB with average change rate.My thoughts:Deploy a VBR + Backup repo instance in each DC. Deploy backup proxy each in DC1 and DC2. Does Veeam B&R have limitations on the type of Disks used for creating a Backup repo?

I need to deploy a Veeam Repo server, windows based using 20TB HDD (12 X 20TB, RAID6). Would there be a huge impact on backup windows when using this configuration? Are there any limitations or compatibility matrix on what type of disk size or type can be used for a repo server?

Cortex XDR as Antivirus Engine

Is anybody using Cortex XDR along with Veeam? It should be fairly easy to extend the Antivirus definition file, but I can’t find any information about how (or even if) Cortex can be called to scan a specific file.

Immutable impact on sizing

Hi all…. greetings...I am thinking about immutable repo will affect repo sizing or not…In general cases, immutable for 14d or 30d, which is just a part of the retention policy (say 30D 4W 3M 3Y), storage size is just the same no matter when the immutable is on or offAlso, in real sizing task, we usually reserve spaces for annual growthSome occupation on storage spaces will be absorbed by the buffer... What about in extreme scenario, large backup sources and no. of VMs, large delta change, and long immutable period say 3years. Will the sizing different between immutable on and off?

question on guest os processing

been doing backups of our vcenter vms to disk for some time now.  just tried out the application aware processing and several VMs reported erros like “cannot find linux guest credentials” or “unbale to perform guest file system indexing”.am I right to think this means the VM was not backup up to disk, and I need to turn off applicaiton aware processing until I have correct credentials on those VMs?

Agent vs Hyper-V Backup

Hi, I have a Windows 2022 Server with Hyper-V installed and running several Windows VM’s.  I think under B&R, there are two types of backups I can do for these Windows VM’s.  I can install Agent on them and treat them as standalone machines or back them up under Hyper-V.   Would anyone know the pros and cons of each method?  And is there a recommended method?thank you!

Hello, I would like to have your feedback about how to manage S3 backup.I mean, on the service provider S3 Créate access key with correct privilegeThen I need to create a bucket. What name do you choose ? Is there use case where several buckets are needed for end customer ?And for the folder, same question.I mean, it’s more about governance and to be sure to understand correctly the pro and con.Do I need 1 bucket / job ? Do I need 1 bucket for all backup job and an other for backup copy ?Do I need 1 bucket for all jobs type ?Then, for the folder, 1 job per folder ? 1 job per job type ? 1 folder for all ?  I’m totally new to the object storage and would like to understand what are the best practice for this :) Thanks for your answer :)
