Updating Veeam 365 from 8.1.2.180 to 8.3.0.2201

I am preparing to update Veeam for Microsoft 365 from 8.1.2.180 to 8.3.0.2201 and I just want to make sure I am all set in case there are any issue after the update. I don’t believe I have any PostgreSQL or NATS setup that I can recall from when I set this up. I suppose if I do it is all default. It also appears there is no config backup option in this program. We do back up this server, but it does hold both V365 and VBR, so not sure if that complicates things from a restore standpoint if there is a problem with the V365 update.

I’m probably overthinking it, but it is the first time I will be updating V365 and just want to make sure my jobs and repositories don’t break or need adjustments after the update.

The main reason for this update other than the prompt for an update was that we received a one time email last week saying “License update interrupted: License contract has been terminated” even though subscription and user licenses are active as far as we can tell. Possibly a glitch or temporary network issue?

If your VB365 server is a VM, then take a snapshot of it before the upgrade so you can roll back if needed.  You already have backups so you are good there.  If VBR is on the same system (not a good best practice) then ensure you have a configuration backup for that just in case.

the upgrade should be very straightforward, I’ve done several without issue. Like Chris said if a VM take a snapshot and have a good backup.

Let us know how you make out

Nothing much more to add than the above. Just follow the steps via the Guide if you need to:

https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbo365/guide/vbo_upgrading.html?ver=8

For any other issues encountered...pretty much just get ahold of Veeam Support if needed.

Thanks everyone! We do have backups and it is a VM, so I will look into taking a snapshot now before I start the update.

If you want an extra layer of targeted protection just for the VB365 configuration, stop the Veeam 365 services and manually copy the C:\ProgramData\Veeam\Backup365 directory  to a safe location before starting. Restoring those folders is the fastest way to recover the VB365 configuration without rolling back the whole VBR server.
