If I were to create a new copyjob to replace an old one, and I want it to only move over the very latest restore point and none of the previous restore points that are currently in the repository; can this be accomplished by taking a new active full on the source jobs and then running a sync now on the new copyjob and telling it copy over the latest? If not, can this only be accomplished by wiping out all current local and cloud and starting from scratch?
I am more than excited to announce today that I was selected from the raffle as a winner of this amazing prize. Basically I love kicks and this will be my regular henceforth. My enthusiasm go make me to use this shoe almost every day eeehn (Naija pidgin) . Special thanks to @Kseniya and @Rick Vanover for this special opportunity as a Veeam Legend. I am grateful once again. This bring me to the question @Rick Vanover, how can Veeam maximise my sites? I love to even showcase Veeam more and more on my site. I get thousand of visitors and viewers around the world each day, and I want Veeam to leverage on this.
Hey community, can we perform replication job of agent based backups?
We have VMware private cloud, consists of different VMs for different customers, technically is has 1 center. We have a separate infra of backup, with them as a backup solution, different Veeam instances as well for different customers,Now we have ongoing project for backup and provisioned veeam instance1 we will connect to the vcenter of our vmware private cloud and assuming it will be successful, moving forward for veeam instance2 3,4, and so on and we will use as well the existing vcenter for different instances. Is there any problem or error since Veeam instance1 already connected to the existing center? Then definitely we will connect other Veeam instances2, 3,4… Thanks
For those of you who have upgraded to 11a, how are you liking it so far? I upgraded all of my servers last week and so far I can 100% see a big difference in performance. I am happy with it so far. I also updated our Service Provider Console to v6.
I run Veeam B&R 11 on a Windows server but at the moment it is just making some physical backups of a number of critical Windows hosts and a few EXT4 volumes on Linux hosts. The majority of our data (give or take 125TB) is hosted on a SAN (mirrored) exposed as EXT4 volumes via iSCSI on a Linux server. As an extra level of backup, I want to start backing up this data on a regular basis with Veeam B&R 11 onto a new suitable storage server with sufficient Direct-Attached Storage or some kind of NAS unit, preferably with this storage configured as a hardened Linux repository in Veeam. This storage server would be in a different location to the SAN, but connected over a 10GBE link.Has anyone got some advice on what would be a good hardware solution for this Linux-based hardened repo?Should I be looking at one of the larger Synology NAS units with sufficient capacity (not sure if this can be used with Veeam as a Linux repo or would a dedicated server full of storage be a better option.
Hi everyone, Today VMware have announced the 7.0 U3 release for VMware vSphere and Update 3 for vSAN 7.Announcing vSphere 7 Update 3 - VMware vSphere BlogAnnouncing vSAN 7 Update 3 | VMware Virtual Blocks Just to remind everyone that v11a is going to be the minimum required version for this as per the release notes:VMware vSphere 7.0 U3 readiness based on the pre-release build. The official support will require full regression testing of the GA build when it becomes available. This article will be updated with a support statement afterwards. This doesn’t mean that Veeam actively support this, once Veeam confirm compatibility we’ll know if v11a has full support or whether a later CU will be required to be in a supported state.UPDATE 05/10/2021ESXi 7.0U3 is now GA: https://customerconnect.vmware.com/downloads/details?downloadGroup=ESXI70U3&productId=974&rPId=74484As is vCenter 7.0U3 of course: https://customerconnect.vmware.com/downloads/details?downloadGroup=VC70U3&productId=
Hi everyone, i’ve been having this problem for a while now…Email notifications after backup completion are not being sent anymore to the specified email address, but when i test the credentials the email arrives successfully to my email account. I’m using the Veeam Agent 5.0 on a windows server 2012 r2. No veeam B&R is implied, just the agent making backups to a local disk.Additional informations:i recently changed the email server for the email account, before changing it everything was fine and the backup emails arrived, so at a first glance it seemed a problem with the email server; but i made a clean installation of veeam agent 5.0 on another server, using the same credentials, and the emails for the backup job are arriving regularly; so this excludes the fact that it may be a problem of the new email server(and also the fact that the email tests arrive without any problem). So i thought this may be a problem related to some veeam files regarding the old installation, so here’s
Hello Techies,We use Veeam Backup as our backup solution, and I am planning to configure Veeam as follows to make sure that our data are safe during a primary site unrecoverable disaster.Regularly backup configuration and keep it external storage source ( One Drive, external HDD ..etc ) At the end of each backup, I will configure a copy job to secondary storage The secondary storage will be mapped from the DR site using the site-to-site link. So, after each job, a copy will be placed into secondary storage and the secondary store will be on the DR site. In the event of primary site unrecoverable disaster, I will perform as follows 1- Install fresh Veeam software 2- Restore configuration3- Map secondary storage backup LUN / Volume 4- Restore from secondary storage Am I missing something? any suggestion?
While creating backups in a Hyper-V environment, you need several permissions to be able to properly snapshot and process a VM. What are the permissions are not necessary for on-host backups, if used?Full Access permission on the targetfolder and share access given.
Hi guys One of our customer hosts VBO on a Azure VM with managed disk as backup repository. Not the best practice and most cost efficient, but customer started with VBO v2 :)To the problem: Customer tries to restore a sharepoint site of 50GB with many files. The restore performance is quite bad around 3MB/s with bottleneck shown as source. Are we hitting against Microsoft limitation? CPU and disk on VBO VM is low during the hole restore time. Also tried with SSD as managed disk without any effect. SincerelyDaniel
hi team can any you explain me where the veeam Credentials is store? if it's store in the sql database is the Credentials is encrypted? is it possible to recover Credentials from sql database?

Production Environment is a four Node VXRail VSAN Cluster. Backup Server is separated on a Physical Machine with local Storage and Backup Jobs are running fine.Want to use SureBackup to proof that my Virtual Machines are could be recovered after been backed up. Setup everything what is needed for SureBackup but the Job went wrong. At the End i figured out that something goes wrong on the vPower NFS which uses Port 1063 and Port 2049. But even i change the Port 1063 to 1058 there is no success.Have someone a clue what ports are needed for VXRail to work?

Log-shipping with VBR involves your SQL or Oracle server (VM or agent), optionally a log-shipping server and of course a repo to store the VLBs.With Hyper-V underneath one might even log-ship through the hypervisor by using PowerShell direct. This is nice, as it allows to isolate your DB workloads from the backup network and still leverage log-shipping.During the process Veeam creates temp files of the logs to be shipped first on the DB server and then the log-shipping server. Finally, after a LZ4 compression, those are driven to the repo and deleted on those temp locations. On the DB server the temp path for logs is defined in the registry and defaults to the largest disk the server has (since 9.5U4a). The path can be changed: https://www.veeam.com/kb2642On the log-shipping server the process is always using the %TEMP% path to store the data.Problem is, VBR does not seem to check both pathes before it copies the raw transaction logs during each cycle. So, a large transaction log to be
In these two weeks, updates have been released for two of the most used operating systems in the world, I’m talking about Windows 11 and Ubuntu 21.10.Windows 11 comes with all-secured new OS (and relative limitations too, es. TMP 2.0 and 3-years CPU), new design and sounds, new start, heavely power-up of multitasking, optimized and reduced uptades, integrated teams and widget, new Xbox funtionality, store and Android app support ( this one will come very soon). And if you have an AMD, tomorrow will get fix for that issue onb L3 cache and performance too.Ubuntu intead comes with new features, but this release’s not a LTS so only around 5% of installations will get new update (long live to LTS), Linux kernel 5.13, Gnome 40 (and not 41), PulseAudio 15 for better bluetooth support, and more integration for desktop app and settings. This is not a topic for which OS is better (please, not OS war), but to talk about which OS you use and for what reasons.I’ll go first. I use both. Windows supp
Veeam has just released the RHV backup in Beta if anyone is interested. Find details here -KB4221: Release Information for Veeam Backup for Red Hat Virtualization 1.0
Evening all!Seeing reports of Windows Update pushing a bad driver for VMware PVSCSI to Windows Server 2012/2012 R2 VMs, it shows as “VMware, Inc. - SCSI Adapter - 1.3.18.0”. Hopefully Microsoft will pull it, just be careful of any patching windows or you may be fishing for old drivers through your backups… or if you’re using SureBackup/SureReplica, if you’ve got a pending Windows Update reboot and it’s a ticking time bomb, you’ll soon know when those VMs fail to boot! Good luck out there!
Additionally, for users with tape installations (for file to tape jobs processing more than 1,000,000 files):1.5 GB RAM for file to tape backup for each 1,000,000 files 2.6 GB RAM for file restore for each 1,000,000 files 1.3 GB RAM for catalog jobs for each 1,000,000 files Please anyone expation what its means?
As many of you may have seen from your email Veeam has recently released a VMCE 2021 Fast Track package for any v9, 2020 certificate holders or people who have taken the v10 class but not passed the exam. I’ve written a blog on the subject but TL;DR it’s definitely worth checking out.
Veeam has extended its Azure Stack HCI OS support in v11a. See the following KB - KB4047: Veeam Support for Azure Stack HCI
