Hello,I would like to know if we can process the emails sent from Veeam once a day (once the backup window has finished) and ensure we have 2 success emails for each job (one for the main backup job and one for the replication job stating the backup jobs and its status). I would like to get an email daily that will mention all back jobs have been completed and its status (Successful, Warning or Critical). EX. I have 12 jobs and from those 12 jobs I want 2 emails stating those 12 jobs (One for main backup and for the replication) and saying that those jobs have been completed successfully, have warnings or some critical. this is for the backup and replication jobs.job 1 = back successfuly completed or warning or criticaljob 2 = back successfuly completed or warning or criticaljob 3 = back successfuly completed or warning or criticaljob 4 = back successfuly completed or warning or criticaljob 5 = back successfuly completed or warning or criticaljob 6 = back successfuly completed or warn
Hey guys,If I want to initiate oracle RMAN backup in veeam by running the backup from database, backup will run in veeam repo, but what about the schedule settings for that? where can I edit that?
I know this might be a superfluous post, but I write it anyway because I know that someone will do a google search about it.Windows 11 is out today (and if you are an IT you doesn’t install it today definitely in some production device, aren’t you?)Anyway Veeam Agent for Windows 5.0.0.4301 has issue with it, and it’s not supported.So.Please.Wait.As @MicoolPaul said:You want v11a which currently has “Windows 11 readiness” based on pre-release, still not officially supported of course! But v11a includes 5.0.1 KB4215: Release Information for Veeam Backup & Replication 11a
Can anyone tell the difference between Static IP mapping and IP masquerading? Both are trying to access VM in virtual lab, so what is the difference?
Is there a way for teams to automatically remove objects from backups, i.e. team objeckts that could not be found anymore, but also to automatically include objects, with a certain prefix, in backups? Thanks so far!
Hey everyone, I was working on reviving my decade old MacBook Pro yesterday, I didn’t want to put MacOS on it again because the only versions it supports are end of life, so inevitably I went down the Linux route. I prepped my USB, installed my distribution of choice (Ubuntu) and set it up as I needed (my dedicated GPU is dead so I needed a fair few tweaks to force the integrated one). As I was installing Ubuntu, it occurred to me, I gave ZERO thought to deploying anything other than Ubuntu, it’s just MY default go-to when I need a Linux OS. So, what’s your go-to? Why is it your go-to? Was it a feature, a security/compliance requirement? Was it the support? Or was it the first one you just *clicked* with? For me, I first started using Ubuntu on the 10.x release. I used Debian and Centos, but Ubuntu just felt nicer to use, helping me learn more about Linux and getting me comfortable enough to go headless on a Linux server (which would make me more confident when Windows started doing Cor

Quantum announced a new feature in their Library-portfolio: Scalar Ransom Block.https://blocksandfiles.com/2021/11/02/quantum-eject-eject-eject-well-partially-eject-tape-to-block-ransomware/The idea behind is extremely simple: A magazine in the library is partially ejected, so that the robot cannot access these tapes any more! But the ejection is just a few millimeters so the barcode-scanner is still able to see the codes. Ejection can be controlled remotely but to insert the magazine again, a physical manual task is necessary! In my opinion it is a super simple and effective method to protect tapes from attackers that would otherwise be unprotected if tapes would stay in library. But – for sure – it is no protection in the sense of the 3-2-1 rule. And what do you think when comparing to Libraries Mail Slots?
i have on going PoC for Veeam VBR. customer want to take a Physical Machine back up(Dell Server) and want to restore it in another physical server(HPE server). is it possible or not.
While backing up SQL workloads, the job returned an error saying “Unable to truncate Microsoft SQL Server transaction logs. Details: Failed to process 'TruncateSQLLog' command. Failed to truncate SQL server transaction logs for instances: . See guest helper log. .” what could be the reason for this?In the sql settings, I enabled “backups logs periodically” and specified retention period. does these settings have something to do with the error?
Requirement with Deduplication in windows where if you restore OS files it will not work and throws the error “The revision level is unknown”. Seems to be with the mount server OS versus the backed up VM OS along with having the deduplication turned on.Check this article for more information - KB2776: Guest OS File restore fails with ‘The revision level is unknown’ (veeam.com)
I performed a backup with exchange workload, but the job returned with a “nothing to process” error.what could be the reason for this?
Hello folks, I got a question for you.I inherited an ESXi-based structure with vCenter and backupped via Veeam Backup and Replication 9.5.4.2866.Without deleting the job and redoing a new one (the size of the vm is very consistent), is there a way to understand if when the job was created choosing vcenter and not directly VMs?My fear is that if the job was created by choosing the vcenter, if it goes down I can't restore the structure. And I have no experience about it.
Hello,as management finally has approved the founds we will upgrade our fileserver and backup structure both in hardware and software. Delivery and configuration is foreseen in ~ 2 weeks. The main server to be backed up will hold our fileserver with ~ 8TB and several smaller VMs (linux and windows). The B&R server will be on a seperate machine and inside a VM. The Hyper-V core is planned with Server 2022. Is there a risk of using Server 2022 for the B&R VM (after v11a release of course)? Is ReFS the best choice for the filesystem? BRFrank
Hey guys, I have another query. If I create a backup let’s say full backup on Monday, retention policy is 7 days and synthetic backup on saturday. On saturday once the full backup is created, will the previous backups merge to this full backup and get deleted once retention policy is expired ?Another question: consider the 1st question scenario in the backup settings, now if a customer deletes a backup on tuesday and reports this 20 days later, can he use the synthetic backups to recover the data?
Hey guys, I have a query. If you can see the attached screenshot, if I want to store the backup in secondary destination, will the backup run on both the primary and secondary destination simultaneously on the scheduled time?
If there is anyone that uses the Nutanix AHV Proxy appliance there is a known issue where it may not update to v3. Check the following KB for more information - KB4237: Veeam Backup for Nutanix AHV Proxy Appliance failure to update to v3
Hey community, I want to use VBR 11a and VeeamPluginforSAPHANA to backup my SAP HANA database.Howerver, the test result is not ideal, Processing rate is only 1M/s.In my environment, the bandwidth between the VBR server and the HANA server is 10Gbps, and I have tested it with iperf3, everything is OK. and when I use VBR to backup VMs and NAS, everything is OK too. I also tried to set up different repositories using SapBackintConfigTool, but it doesn't work. What could be the reason? tks.
Anton Gostev has just announced the official support for vSphere 7.0 U3 in his weekly R&D Forums Digest. The only requirement is to run the latest VBR release v11a. And don't forget to update to 7.0 U3a because of the bug with thin-provisioned disks (link at the bottom).Onto the Veeam news next! Our QC has just completed the full testing cycle of VMware vSphere 7.0 Update 3 and we're now ready to declare its official support with the current version of Veeam Backup & Replication 11a. However, be aware that the original U3 build has a regression which can consistently cause PSOD on multiple hosts in cluster. This issue really plagued one of our labs to the point where we had to stop using it for testing completely. Luckily, right when we finally finished our testing on Friday, VMware dropped the new Update 3a build which supposedly addresses this issue. So be sure to download and use this newer vSphere build instead of the original one! As someone just told me, it always pays to
Veeam updated this KB that explains how to protect the VBR server using the Configuration backup and restore process.KB2645: Protecting the Veeam Backup & Replication server
If you are reducing your disks on your VMs be careful as it can cause an error with running Replication. The following KB discusses this and includes a solution -KB4232: Replication job fails with "Cannot replicate disk because its capacity was reduced" (veeam.com)
If the source VMs have virus/infected, technically Veeam can backup that but can Veeam knows that the source is infected with virus/ransomware?
