Hello everyone! Just a silly question here. Look for this datastore on my lab environment: As I remember this datastore is used by Veeam during the Instant VM Recovery process acording with vPower NFS right? However, in this right moment I don’t have any IR job running.Is it correct having this datastore mounted on ESXi everytime? 

I’ve used Veeam Backup & Replication V10 solutino; have File-level-backup jobs, Synthetic full backup, local repo, and use Optimal Data Compression.My issue is, High and Extreme Data Compression does not compress The Backup.my backups took massive sotrage, why is the compression not working?

I have an odd backup setup that I am trying to navigate. We have a VM (VMware) that is being backed up that has a volume listed in the OS as G: drive. This is actually a USB drive attached to the host server and is being fed into VMware via the xHCI USB driver. Veeam is backing up this volume, but is not listing it in the list of backed up drives if I try and create an exclusion. Is there another area to look or another way to exclude just this G: drive from the backup?

I am currently trying to upgrade to version 11 . The first upgrade failed with an error as it could not start the services. I have just tried to run the repair and I am receiving a different error "veeam configuration database is in use by the backup server " I have no idea how to proceed.

Hey guys, I watched this video on WAN accelerator and the instructor has told to not specify C drive as the cache location, but in helpcenter documents they have not specified anything like that. Is not setting cache location on C drive a good recommendation? Please refer the video and for more details of what I described jump to 6:27 of the video  

Hi - just testing with community edition. I ran a test backup to C:\backup but I did not have enough space. I’ve added a new repository which is a Synology NAS. I can see a vbm file is created for 2 of my linux hosts, but thats it. Immediately the backup fails. All I get is “finished with error”. Is there a log somewhere thats a tad more verbose than this?

This week I was investigating some imbalance in size on two (scale out) repositories. Every repository gets the backup of a subset of all VMs and copy these to the second repository. And vice versa. So in theory, both repositories should be very similarly utilized. But when you look at volume properties, this is not the case. We see quite a large difference. So I used PowerShell to query VBR and sum all data of each VM on both repositories (I will post some code snippets next week). And I found out, VBR does not know about a notable amount of data (VBR-query showed much less used data than volume properties did).So there seems to be backup data, VBR is not aware of. I call these files orphaned files. What are your experiences with orphaned files? Do your see them very often or not at all? Or are you not aware of their existence? Hi I use veeam v11 Enterprise plus solution to back-up my environnent. Veeam is installed in all-in-one configuration a local physical server.I bought a google cloud storage in order to get an other copu of my datas on the cloud.I created a SOBR on my backup infrastructure, with a local NAS as performance Tier and GPC bucket as capacity tier with the copy operation.This operation succeeded and i see on GPC administration page a Veeam/Archive folder.Then i created a job to back-up a small folder in order to try it.The job succeeded with a warning regarding to cache serve limited space.In local repository i can find backup files, but on the bucket ther is nothing.I don’t understand why i have no error message but i can’t see backup files on the GPC bucket ?

I wanted to ask this question earlier, sorry . We celebrated the first year of our community. I wonder what means this community to you? What drives you to add content, write comments or just read what’s published?I start with it: When I first read about this new Community Hub, I though this would be just another community platform, like many others. But I registered and began to add posts. And of course I learned a lot from other posts. Because it seemed to be normal in here, I also added lot of comments and questions to posts. For me the start of the Hub was at the perfect time. Subconsciously I was searching for a new focus topic. I did a lot of Veeam stuff before but rather incidentally. With the Hub the theme slipped into the center. What keeps me motivated is mainly the great feedback! At my own blog I just see the number of views as in indicator how popular a post is. Here I get great feedback from peers. That means a lot to me! It is also awesome to see how @Kseniya  and @Rick

Hi, I’m hoping someone can point me in the correct direction. I have Veeam B&R Community edition server running on my Windows 10 workstation. I do backups of the O/S drive daily and monthly, the user data hourly and monthly and the VM drive daily and monthly.I wanted to have bare-metal recovery but it turns out that Veeam’s bare metal recovery only works if the backups are taken by a Veeam Windows agent implementation. I tried this but because I am already backing data using B&R the agent policy fails.How can I get a bare-metal recovery option?I used to use Windows backup but I keep getting issues with other drives getting flagged as required and that blows out the space required for the Windows backup.Thanks in anticipation.Bob   

One of my clients (public sector) has high security requirements for his IT environment – including backup and storage.I found the following statement from VEEAM about the used encryption standards and methods in Veeam Backup and Replication:“Veeam Backup & Replication supports the following encryption standards and methods:Data EncryptionTo encrypt data blocks in backup files and files archived to tape, Veeam Backup & Replication uses the 256-bit AES with a 256-bit key length in the CBC-mode.
