Hello, Can someone share the main difference of veeam replication and CDP, on where scenario best to use them and other details as well 🙂 thanks

Short ver: replication is based on snapshot, CDP is real time.

You only need to use CDP for really short RPO requirements.

And keep in mind, CPD short Term retention is not application consistent. That could an issue with running databases or other open files, when you need to start the CDP replica.

SureReplica Jobs are not possible yet, so zero testing for CPD replicas either.

If you want to replicate only each 30-60 minutes or more, you can use veeam replicas with application aware processing. Your data is consistent and has lower requirements for licensing and network/storage performance. And it can be tested with SureReplica Jobs.

Hello @JustineP, here is a vital link: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/vsphere/cdp_replication.html?ver=110

And to get the opinion of other on the differences already discussed in the forum, see this link: https://forums.veeam.com/vmware-vsphere-f24/cdp-vs-replication-t72369.html

Thank you :)

Very well, if solved @JustineP please close the case.
