Morning!

In the latest “The Word From Gostev”, Anton Gostev has announced that the v11a platform update should be entering early availability this week.

Normally you’d have to engage with Veeam support to receive this as a download but based on what appears to be a lack of engagement with this method (Anton stated they were never happy with the number of downloads yielded via this method), Veeam are looking to release the new updates during EA status via the Veeam R&D forums.

If you’ve been living under a rock and you’re not aware of them, these are at https://forums.veeam.com

To download the update you’ll need to go to the relevant product section of the forum.

I’ll update this post when the EA downloads become available.

Update:

Thanks to @Mildur we know the updates will be available via the normal update threads on the R&D forums. When the downloads are available you’ll be able to find them here:

v11a is nearly here! :grinning:

Thanks @MicoolPaul

The chances are great, that it will be posted here:

>ALL VERSIONS] Current build is 11.0.0.837 P20210525 (May 28, 2021) (veeam.com)

Thanks @Mildur seems likely based on historical updates, as it’s early adopter I’m not 100% it will be, but will update this post in either case :relaxed:

Normally, they will post it there with Links to the KB article. But it’s possible, that for this time, a dedicated Post with all do’s and don'ts will be posted :)

Interesting approach this time to do it publicly instead of via support. Will get many more testing it so should be good.

Nice to know! I’m going to update my lab as soon as it releases.

Same here.  It will also help with my book writing too as it is perfect timing just getting going. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Thank you @MicoolPaul :relaxed::relaxed::relaxed::relaxed:

Would like to give a special thank you to Detective @Mildur for finding this little piece of information:

https://forums.veeam.com/post429806.html#p429806

So the product updates will be in their usual destinations, for easy access I’m going to include the links to the latest version threads on my original post! (Note this doesn’t mean the downloads are available yet)

@MicoolPaul

The R&D forums is my second home :grin::smile:

@Mildur, @MicoolPaul  I love that ‘Detective Mildur’ title :smile:

I’ve added all the links possible, now remember this doesn’t mean there WILL be an update this week for them. Some are highly likely such as GCP due to the upcoming B&R and GCP integration but others such as Backup for O365 got an update the other day and so it’s extremely unlikely they’ll get another in rapid succession.

@Mildur@MicoolPaul  I love that ‘Detective Mildur’ title :smile:

@Kseniya

Can i have a badge for that :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Released

Dang that was fast!! :joy:

Great spot Detective Mildur!

:spy: In lieu of a badge, here’s your very own emoji that I’m sure @Kseniya put into the forum just for you!

Already mentioned that ;)

Damn, scrolling down the posts I thought it was just the place holder. I was too excited when seeing the RSS update, sorry @Mildur :see_no_evil:

No issue. Everything good :D

I will deploy it today to my test server

Thanks @Mildur & @regnor 🙂

I’ve added the release notes next to Veeam B&R!

Note everyone: The list of all fixes is still being collated so if you’ve got a hot fix you can’t yet guarantee it’s been included in v11a, odds are it is but that depends how recently the bug was discovered and fixed. If the bug fix is critical to your environment it’s worth checking with Veeam Support that it was included!

Veeam One V11a is out now too.

Veeam One V11a is out now too.

Added release notes and download link, good work!

Time to get installing both in my lab so I can add anything new to my book. 😁

As you may have read in Sunday’s digest from @Gostev Veeam is taking a new approach to early availability for 11a in that they aren’t going to use support as a barrier of entry. The related KB articles for both VBR 11a and VeeamONE 11a are now publicly posted with download links and early versions of the release notes.

For any of you that may be using VBO on the same server, either in a lab, as a Service Provider, or by going against best practices (RTFM y’all) be aware that 5d is a requirement for 11a. If you have not upgraded to the 5d release yet it WILL break your 11a install. I’ve now seen or heard of this happening twice already.
