Good morning; I have been having some problems with our current setup, I'm ok with smashing my hardware and starting over, but I want something I know will work! I am having issues with a backup copy job moving our backups off-site to another location. We have Veeam installed on a server in our primary data center, this server has 64TB, and all our primary backups are stored here. We have a backup copy job that pushes backups off-site over a VPN to Synology DS416play. At first, we set this up as an NFS share connected to a repository on the Veeam server; doing it, this was very slow, and backups failed. Then we changed this to an SMB share connected to a repository on the Veeam server; again, this was slow, and jobs would never finish. Then we created a LUN and attached the Veeam server with ISCSI creating a drive letter and pointing the repository to this. The ISCSI method increased the speed jobs were flying and working! But over time, we started getting "Stg.CheckMetadataCorrupt" erro

Hi ,Are there any known limitations to backing up a Linux VM with the Linux agent residing on an esxi host with a socket license? Thanks!

Hi all. I have read many threads and howto’s. I am here now because I just cannot find the answer. As mentioned I have 11a Enterprise plus and can create a Backup repository (although it cannot be selected as it is not listed when I try create a backup but I believe this is not the way to do it any way)When I go to External repositories and select Connect to, I can get all the way to completing the Bucket details on the Wizard screen, and just after selecting the folder (which is another magic trick in itself) I get the error “Repository description not found Agent failed to process method {Cloud.GetRepository.Owner} and can go no further. Does anyone have any idea’s or am I missing something obvious? I just want to back up my HyperV machines nightly to Google cloud storage instead of an external drive and the human management of that.

where veeam save in your license file .lic @which directory in server

Running Veeam B&R 11.0.1.1261 (11a? and fairly current)I was advised by our veeam rep to use a backup copy job to accomplish what I was trying to do. Basically:we have a daily backup job to disk with 60 days of restore points, and weekly full backups on Saturdays. I want to move a copy of ONLY the weekly full from this job to a different datastore that’s part of a scale-out repository, most specifically to use the backup copy job’s ability to apply GFS retention to what it’s copying Unfortunately the scheduling options for the periodic backup copy job leave a lot to be desired. The only option you have is “run this job every X days at Y time” - that’s it.Considering that normal backup jobs get a wide variety of scheduling options (most importantly in this case “run on specific day of the week” or  “run after specific backup job”) it seems odd that none of these extremely useful options are available within backup copy jobs.Instead the only option is “run every 7 days” which means I

I signed up for a 30 days trial for the MS365 backup. I am backing up my Exchange server into a local repository. I was wondering if MS365 fails. How do we recover from the files we have in the local repository? In other words is if MS365 one day decided not to function anymore. How do we recover our exchange files from the repository that Veeam back up to?

I am currently using Veeam and Backup and Replication 10.  How do I delete disk backup jobs after I verify the tape backup job has completed successfully.  I’m in the process of ordering more hard drive disk space but my fear is that I delete the wrong stuff that would prevent a restore from completing should I have a need to perform.  Thank you. John N

Veeam 11.0.1.1260Very slow incrémental backup on SMB shares. At the job’ creation , the first backup bandwidth is up to 54 MB, then when the incremental run, we got up to 200kb and takes hours to backup little.

I’m trying to backup Openshift Cluster through kasten but backup doesn’t happen and I’m confused what to do next. [&DeploymentCondition{Type:Available,Status:False,Reason:MinimumReplicasUnavailable,Message:Deployment does not have minimum availability.,LastUpdateTime:2022-07-03 08:28:50 +0000 UTC,LastTransitionTime:2022-07-03 08:28:50 +0000 UTC,} &DeploymentCondition{Type:Progressing,Status:False,Reason:ProgressDeadlineExceeded,Message:ReplicaSet "catalog-svc-5f994799b9" has timed out progressing.,LastUpdateTime:2022-07-03 21:05:58 +0000 UTC,LastTransitionTime:2022-07-03 21:05:58 +0000 UTC,}]

Let's use some Thursday wisdom:"There are two kinds of skills, resources and tools:Ones that get used up as you use them. And ones that get better when you do.Nobody wants there to be a crowd at the ski area on a bluebird powder day–too many people use up the new snow.On the other hand, it’s no fun at all to go dancing when you’re the only one in the club.A painting or a song that’s experienced by more people is worth more. A carpenter increases her skills when she works on new projects (to a point). On the other hand, a sharp knife gets dull if you use it too often…If you’ve got something that benefits from use, from practice and community, use it and share it.'’ (Seth Godin)

Tried looking for this, but does a VM have to have a minimum version for CDP Replication?  Turning up CDP for the first time for two VM’s and getting the below error.  Or am I going about this wrong? 6/27/2022 4:58:31 PM :: VM configuration for the initial sync completed with errors Error: The virtual machine version is not compatible with the version of the host 'esxi02'. Hey Veeam Community… if you are a Service Provider or a consumer of services from providers, I would like to get some quick feedback from you all. Short poll attached to this post is a quick yes/no… feel free to comment if you like.

Hey guys, can I use grafana to connect to veeam rest api ?

Where can I get the import string if I created a policy to export restore points each day and then need to restore any of these restore points in a different K8s cluster?

So our company is growing, and planning for the future we are moving our VEEAM to a new server, and of course decommission the old one. With this move we want to start fresh, but retain access to the old repository. Is there a certain process we can do, so that the old jobs will not be migrated to the new server, thus reducing clutter, and allow us to restore from the old repository? The reason for this is the backup job infrastructure was created, and adapted to a fast growing company so it was sort of a reactionary solution. We now have the storage and plan on moving to the cloud. This will hopefully allow us to move away from our aging tape drive a good bit.Thank you all for your help in this matter.

As many of you know I have written two books on Veeam and they have done well. Since going to VeeamON this year I am actually excited to write a third edition now. So based on what you have tested with the Beta what would you like to see covered?I am waiting for the what's new document so I can plan things out but if there a few topics of interest I will try to incorporate them. 😁

Hi guys,Which one is better for ensuring about our backup files health:Validating backup files by run Backup Validator as a script after backup job is done. Schedule Storage-Level Corruption Guard BRDavoud

Hey guys, this is query related to failover plan. Is failover plan dependent on replication job? When u select failover plan, u can select from replicas or infrastructure. From infrastructure option, can we select the VMs which are not replicated?

Happy Friday from me to you all today! Today’s Fun Friday is a random one. I moved home this week and last night I was putting together my new office and thought to myself, I wonder if everyone else has as much random tech as me? So my question to you all is, what does your workspace/computer space look like?Hasn’t got to be pictures, but just little things like, how many screens? Any servers/lab tech?Favourite gadget in there such as a streamdeck or a ring light etc? For me, my favourite little gadget is my Crash Bandicoot “Cable Guy” that holds my Xbox controller!I’ve got 2x 28” screens and I’m really happy I finally have a long enough wall that both my screens can sit next to each other instead of at a near 90 degree angle! (It’s not good for the spine to twist that much in your chair constantly!) And because of this longer wall I no longer have my server lab under my feet so I can actually STRETCH!!!

Does anyone have experience with data recovery (VMware to Nutanix AHV) with Veeam?

We are beginning to put together a cloud based backup infrastructure, so we want to insure that we are leaving some bandwidth available for our employees, and not hobbling our internal backups. I have been doing some light research, and was wondering if there was a way to throttle only the backups that go up to the cloud, while leaving the on premise back up to disk jobs running at full.  I have seen how to setup the global rules, but they seem to apply to all jobs unless I am mistaken. Thank you in advance for any advise you can give me, or point me in the right direction.

Customer running v10 on 3 existing VBR servers and Enterprise Manager. EM has perpetual socket license.Replaced perpetual socket license on the EM server with new instance license.Opened up all three backup server consoles, and opened up the License dialog. All three showed perpetual licenses still. When Update or Install or Remove were clicked, the warning came up that the licensing was managed by an EM Server, did we want to continue? Cancelled this.Backup Service and Guest Catalog services were restarted: no change.Backup server was restarted: no change.Removed backup server from EM server; opened up license dialog on VBR, removed license so it is now Community Edition. Started Database collection. Closed and reopened dialog box on VBR, no change. Finally just put the new Instance license on the VBR. The other two servers are still showing perpetual, although successive database collections all showed successful connections to the backup servers.1. How should license updates behave wh

I am striking out on my Google-Fu and Forums-Fu ! I can't find a definitive result for what happens to backups when the source VMDK is resized (larger). Can anyone point me to the correct link for a customer to review? I think the backup job runs a new full because the block map changes. But for Replication, a rescan of the disk supposedly prevents resending the whole disk.

Sorry for the repost but my last post doesn’t appear to exist anymore.Trying to install V11 onto a server 2012 R2 but just getting a red crossJMeixner “SQL set up ends with “Process returned exit code: 0x84B30002” Do you have a SQL server installation on this machine already? “There are some SQL installed but I believe this is from the first time I attempted to install VBR as they have the same install date and below is all the apps installed on the first date

Hello Team,Greetings! The option mentioned in below link:https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/vsphere/file_share_backup_job_secondary_target.html?ver=110 Is this only applicable for Veeam backed up VMs and we cannot use the secondary target for having a duplicate copy of replicated VMs correct? Thanks in advance!~ Ravi Kumar S
