Hi, I recently upgraded to the most recent version of B&R community edition and I think as part of that process, one of my Windows PC did not failed to update its Agent properly. Now, that Windows PC always shows up as offline and when I try to reinstall/update Agent from the console, I get “6/22/2024 5:19:43 PM Warning Failed to connect to MyPC Details: Failed to call RPC function 'PckgFind': Unknown property.” I know that PC is on and has network connection. Is there a way for me to manually reinstall the Agent on that PC? If so, where can I find the installation files? Thank you!
Hello everyone,Two weeks ago, I finished delivering the course Veeam Backup & Replication v12.1: Configure, Manage and Recover.During the explanation of the need to back up the configuration database, using the configuration database's own backup mechanism through the main menu, a student said that he only backs up the Veeam Backup Server using the VMware backup job (Image backup) and in fact I have heard this same statement from other students, so I explained to the student that the backup server must be backed up using the configuration database backup, which is available in the main menu.Because of this type of behavior that I have encountered in the classes that I teach, I reinforce here that the backup server backup must be followed according to https://www.veeam.com/kb2645Pya closer attention here:The KB2645 is very easy to follow, it mention how to enable the encryption for the configuration database backup and also, to get one additionl layer of protection using a File COpy

I just need to know which services are required to run Backup & Replication to a Linux Backup Repository. We also use Enterprise Manager. How can we reduce unnecessary services?
Do you guys treat Veeam like the rest of your servers do do things differently?I know a good portion of us have our Veeam servers Non Domain joined, which will require treating it a bit different. I also have extremely long jobs run to tape sometimes so a manual process to reboot and patch is needed for myself. For most of my servers I use a WSUS deployment I have scripted all of my servers to check in weekly and to download the updates at a specified time. I use flags so they won’t download the updates if a reboot is currently pending incase a previous month is missed. I then use VMware to scheduled reboot the hosts as It’s much more consistent this way and easy to disable. I can also generate reports for people to know when their apps will be down. I was thinking about creating a script to preform the staged download of updates for my Veeam infrastructure, but we will see how time permitting my next while is.
When I manually install Windows agent, it installs with GUI, thus I’m able to perform backups from that particular PC. But I need Agent to perform backups from B&R Console installed elsewhere. When I create the backup job from the Console, it makes a rescan of the PC with Agent installed, then does some ‘MSI packet repair’. So the Agent’s GUI disappears and Agent ‘transforms’ to the version compatible with Console. My question here is how can I at once install Agent to be used with Console? Is there some key can be used with MSI packet to directly install Consol-aware version of Agent?
Hi Everyone,I’m looking into using the HPE Apollo 4200 Gen10 Plus as a backup repository for Veeam and had a couple of questions:Has anyone tested this server with Veeam? Does it handle high-performance backup and restore operations well, especially for heavy workloads? What’s the best way to configure it for Veeam? I’m curious about things like usable storage capacity, support for 100 Gb NICs, and whether it’s suitable for high-concurrency environments.I’d love to hear about your experiences, any tips, or links to helpful resources!
Dear Community,Regarding GCP environment, if you have one GCP appliance.it appears that some of the required services for the XYZ project are currently disabled. The impacted services include:cloudbilling.googleapis.comcloudkms.googleapis.comserviceusage.googleapis.comsqladmin.googleapis.comspanner.googleapis.com To resolve this, you'll need to enable these services in the Google Cloud Console. Here's how you can do that: Go to the Google Cloud Console: https://console.cloud.google.com/Navigate to API & Services > Dashboard.Look for each of the listed services and click on "Enable" next to each service. Alternatively, you can enable the services using gcloud commands: gcloud services enable cloudbilling.googleapis.comgcloud services enable cloudkms.googleapis.comgcloud services enable serviceusage.googleapis.comgcloud services enable sqladmin.googleapis.comgcloud services enable spanner.googleapis.com Once these services are enabled, they should be accessible and ready for use.
Hello everyone, I have run into an issue that I can’t seem to figure out. I have my system set up to backup on a daily basis but a backup has not run in the last 12 days. The only change made 12 days ago was a reinstall of Slack on my laptop. I have rebooted my system multiple times since that date along with performing an uninstall and reinstall of the agent. I am including a screenshot of the Windows agent and my system uptime below.I am not sure why there would be a job still running at this point and could really use some help. I am using Veeam B&R 11.5 CE and my laptop is running Windows 11 22H2. I know that my version of Windows technically is not supported until B&R 12 with Windows agent version 6 but they have not been released yet. I do know that the only thing that will not work with my version of Windows is the backup recovery media creation. Everything else should work according to Dimitry Popov in the following post.Dimitry Popov's post
When we enable ‘Guest file system indexing and malware detection’, this mean if the VM source infected by malware then VBR will send alert to us and keeping backup running? If i want to test this, can i testing by simply put eicar file into the source VM?
Are there any other advanced backup storage calculators kind of like the one Veeam has?Calculator - VM (veeam.com)I’m trying to get a good estimation of storage needs. Don’t get me wrong, you can probably never have enough storage 😂 but with that comes budget. The one from Veeam I’m using total amount of space taken by current VMs in the datacenter. It doesn’t take into account growth (additional VMs) or reduction (consolidation/removal of VMs). Our SAN is right around 90TB but remote datacenters have local stroages for VMs at about 3TB and 1.5TB respectively. Do I size based off SAN/local array storage?
Hi everyoneSome days ago I posted this entry:This is a follow up, or part 2.I hope you like it. Expanding our Object First OOTBI Cluster – adding nodes and VBR space We will add an extra node to the «Single Node Cluster» to become a multi-node one.The steps are straightforward, let’s see them via screenshots with comments:First of all, we need to deploy the OOTBI VSA which will be added to the cluster, follow the guide from the previous entry, ending after the deployment (don’t create the Cluster again).Select the Option Join To ClusterConfigure your NICThe VSA will check for updatesUpdates found, let´s update itupdating…After the update, you will be pushed to the initial menu, go over it again, and the data (NIC config) will remain, just go forward and continueNTP / NTSOK, now, add your OOTBI CLUSTER IP ADDRESS,The one we used/created in the previous entry, and the objectfirst user password we created.BOOM!Node Added to the clusterNow you see the first two options blurry, and the clust

Reading Time: 4 minutesI have been using Synolgoy Nas’es for several years now. Currently, there are two in the home lab a DS1621+ and a DS923+. Both are used for various tasks, like regular file shares, iSCSI for VMware, Podman, and so on. In this post I’m focusing on the DS923+ and how to back up data to an external backup that is only on when needed. Thanks again to Synology, who have provided me with both systems! The idea is simple; if the system gets affected, an untouched backup medium is needed to restore the data. If it is live replicated, there is a chance the secondary system will get infected as well. See the 3-2-1 rule. There are different ways of creating immutable backups on Synology, which I have written about (here). But I thought, this solution I’m about to show is a quick and relatively cheap way to have your data backed up to an extra drive. It’s really quite simple. You already might have a drive that is large enough to hold your data. You might even have an older raid
Howdy, I am trying to crack why my application aware backups aren’t working as expected. I am trying to back up MS SQL server including transaction logs. In the statistics → details overview, there’s plenty of these errors: 12/5/2024 2:10:27 PM :: Failed to connect to guest agent via GIP, failing over to guest runtime components through VIX via GIP12/5/2024 2:10:51 PM :: Failed to inject guest runtime components via GIP, failing over to guest agent connection via GIPFor the backup job, on the app aware screen, the “test credentials” works well for both of my database servers (i.e. ends up with green circle with white checkbox), however the T-LOG backup is incredibly slow. The environment is as follows: Veeam server isn’t domain joined, database servers are. The databases in question operate in basic Always ON availability groups The account used to connecting to the servers is both local admin and sysadmin on the SQL server The user profile for the account used by veeam (the domain o

“This is a beta preview of this upcoming Veeam release, this user interface is not finalized and TBDs, icons, etc. will be to the Veeam standard upon GA.”Back on track after 3 weeks of vacations, playing with a new beta is a good way to get back into the swing of things 😄.1. InstallationI bypass the installation step of the Veeam version 12.3, it’s the same step than currently. 2. Tenant ConfigurationIn the inventory tab you will notice a new entry “ Azure Entra ID” First step you have to specify your Tenant ID, is not the Tenant Name .onmicrosoft.com, to help you to find it : https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/entra/fundamentals/how-to-find-tenantOtherwise you will get the following error message during the configuration: You could add an description, currently the region can’t be changed and you could modify the cache repository used only for the audit log backup necessary to keep temporary metadata to track of all objects that have changed between each session. The next step is f
Understanding the ChallengeWhen you're running a hybrid environment using Azure AD Connect to synchronize on-premises Active Directory to the cloud, backing up and restoring Entra ID can become a complex task. The primary concern is the potential for conflicts with AD Sync's delta synchronization process, which can lead to unexpected issues during a restore.Key Considerations and Best PracticesTo mitigate these challenges and ensure a smooth backup and restore process, consider the following:Coordinate with AD Sync: Pause AD Sync: Before initiating a restore, pause AD Sync to prevent conflicts and ensure a clean restore process. Resume AD Sync: Once the restore is complete, resume AD Sync to synchronize any changes that may have occurred during the downtime. Leverage Azure AD Backup Solutions: Veeam Backup for Microsoft Entra ID is a solution developed for protection and disaster recovery tasks for Microsoft Entra ID. Test Restores Regularly: Conduct regular test restores to veri

vCLS appliance showed up in one of our backup jobs. This caused the backup job to show as failed. To workaround the issue, we excluded the vCLS appliance from the job. For some reason, this should have been in the vCLS folder but it appeared in a the Discovered Virtual Machine folder in vCenter. There are other vCLS appliances in the same volume but since they are all in the vCLS folder, Veeam does not back those up.Our vSphere admins looked at the issue and not sure what is going on in here. I think this should be a question to the vmware experts but wondering if any of you guys have seen this behavior. What do you think is going on in here?
Olá! Meu segundo ano consecutivo na apresentação do VeeamON em São Paulo não poderia ser mais incrível!!Nosso super time em ação @BethSouza @wolff.mateus @wesmrt @joaquim !!!
