Does Veeam also upgrades the database during the upgrade process

Hi All,

Does veeam also upgrades the database version  during the upgrade process? (ms sql or postgres)

Because when upgrading from 12.1 to 12.3, Postgres version was still 15.8,
how do I know if there will be an update? Will vulnerabilities be patched to address them?

Veeam upgrades the database schema but not the version itself.  If you want to do that it is manual process and you can use the MSI package on the ISO.

Only time the latest release of the database is installed is when installing new from scratch.

Hi @nsofl.chen -

Unfortunately, as Chris shared...no...Veeam doesn’t upgrade/patch the DB.

Veeam has a KB you can look at which discusses upgrading and/or patching your Veeam DB:

https://www.veeam.com/kb4386

Let us know if you have further questions.

Best.

Hi @Chris.Childerhose , @coolsport00

Ok, so it's false that it will automatically upgrade.

Yes if you read that it is the database itself not Postgres the application.

@Link State just posted about how to update the PostgreSQL deployment.  I’d recommend looking at the below article.
