I am confused (not an unusual occurrence). I had to do a restore of a VM to a different backup repository from tape, so I could search for some files for a user. Now, I don’t need that restored image. (this repository is a Windows disk drive, and the restored image is 4TB in size). So I’d like that 4TB disk space back, please. :-)Is there a special procedure for cleaning that off the repository? Or do I just delete it from Windows, like any other set of files?  

Hi everyone,recenly i’m doing some test on the veeam backup&replication community edition on my Dell R710 which is running server 2019 standard. And at the first time, i can add a hyper-v server which is running server2019 (standalone) to the backup job, but once i deleted the job, i cannot add any hyper-v again.It always shows :Failed to connect to host 10.178.3.41Access denied or timeout expired. (sometimes is invalid namespace)Check if you have local administrator privileges on computer '10.178.3.41'.Possible reasons:1. Invalid credentials.2. I have a vCenter at a remote datacenter which is serviced by its own storage array and physical proxies for direct san backups. The repository is located in the main campus datacenter and i need to encrypt those backups. I have been using job encryption, but those dont compress/dedupe. Can I use Networo k Traffic encryption for this? The documentation says I can encrypt between “backup infrastructure components”. If I specify the proxy servers at the remote datacenter in the job does that mean I could encrypt from “proxy at remote campus” to “sobr at main campus”?  In the Source IP address range section, specify a range of IP addresses for backup infrastructure components on the source site. In the Target IP address range section, specify a range of IP addresses for backup infrastructure components on the target site.

Hello everybody!I would like to test performance on Linux repositories.The idea is to test read/write performance on disk, IOPS or something like that. I found the KB2014, but I would like to know if some of you have already do this before or if you have some tip or indication for this.  

Dear All,                I have recenty deployed VBR Azure appliance throught the veeam wizard, and after i powered off the azure vm and i changed the size from B2ms to b1ls, and after powered back on and i open the console at Veeam, and it seems doesn’t find the azure anymore, just wonder it is not ok to change the size of the vm ? any help would be appreicated Keith

Hi,We currently do a full backup weekly that is then updated with incramental backups daily that are retained for 7 days.I am concerned about malware going undetected (we have AV, I’m just paranoid). Is a 7 day retention policy for restore points good or should I expand this? Hi, my first experience backing up a volume on my Ubuntu 20.04.6 LTS Linux machine is resulting in a Snapshot overflow error.  I use Veeam B&R Community Edition Build 12.1.2.172.  Here are some details:Veaam R&D machine: Dell PowerEdge R7515 OS: Windows Server 2022 Standard. CPU: AMD EPYC 7232P 8-Core Processr 3.09GHz RAM: 32 GB Backup Disk E: has 65.5 TB capacity with 9 TB free (This disk is the default backup repository) Protected computer: Dell PowerEdge R550 OS: Ubuntu 20.04.1 CPU: Intel Xeon Gold 5317 12-Core Processor 3GHz RAM: 64 GB Backup Mode: Volume level backup Objects: /mnt/data as the only mount point (ext4 with about 7.7 TB of content with total capacity of 65 TB, which means it is 87% free)Multiple backup attempts were made and they all failed with the same Snapshot overflow error. Furthermore, I have studied the protected computer requirem

These days I saw a strange error that makes every backup failed. I thought this would be interesting to share. SituationThere were a few jobs running each day. From a point in time all jobs failed. Error that was shown in console was: [Error Unhandled exception was thrown during licensing process] I checked licensing of course. All hosts were licensed using perpetual licensing. No instances were licensed separately.SolutionIt turned out to be no license problem at all. What happened was, password of the user that was used for connecting to VMware vCenter was changed. After updating the new password in Veeam Manage Credentials too, everything works fine again.

Good morning,Looking for advice on managing storage within an integrated vCenter/Veeam configuration where my backups at backing onto an external storage device. I’m not going to lie I am still timid working in these environments because I have never been to play around in a non production environment so I think it best to get some advice form those of you who are well versed in these products. So the situation is over the years we have created various jobs when issues occurred during backups and now I am wanting to understand the proper way to delete old backups in order to give the NAS some breathing room.  I didn't want to just login to the NAS and literally delete files as I’m pretty certain the VMWare/Veeam setup is aware of all files and folders and don’t want to break the linking.What is the proper way to clean up old backups and have the system correctly identify space and removed items etc. Thank you.

Dear Veeam team, Does anyone have information about an upcoming roadmap regarding Copilot and / or ChatGPT content backup? I have a first customer who is interested in such a solution. To go into detail: The customer wants to backup both “outputs” and “inputs” from and to both tools.The entered command / prompt / question as well as the AI output is to be backed up to provide easy retention and restore management. Can someone provide information? Just wanted to know How Veeam support Openstack and Hypervisor for VMware

I have backed up a Windows 11 PC using Veeam Agent for Windows. I would like to restore that backup to a USB Drive, so then I can just boot Windows up off the USB.I created a Veeam Recovery Media USB, but when I boot up off it and select BMR and select the backup file, my USB drive that I want to restore to, does not come up in the destination drive selection screen, it is not listed at all.I can see the drive if I go to a Command Prompt, but cannot see it in the Veeam BMR Interface.Is there anyway possible to restore the backup to the USB drive.  Could it somehow be done using command line utilities ?Thanks.

I am not sure if this has been posted somewhere before but I thought I would post my experience of setting up Linux proxies for our VMware backups and the one issue I ran into. I deployed a couple of Ubuntu 22.04 VMs, as I will be using hot-add for the VM backups. I added them to the VBR server and created a test backup of one VM. First backup attempt and I got this error:Error: Cannot get service content. Soap fault. Hello Veeam Community,I’m working with Veeam and need clarification on how SLA compliance is calculated in the following scenario:I have an SLA setup with the following settings:RPO (Recovery Point Objective): 8 hoursRTO (Recovery Time Objective): 8 hoursFor a backup job that runs for 24 hours, the results were as follows:20 backup jobs finished within the 8-hour RPO.2 backup jobs took 9 hours to complete (missed the RPO by 1 hour).2 backup jobs failed (no backup completed for these VMs).How does Veeam One calculate RPO compliance in this scenario?

VBR 12.3 had a pretty big payload across our alliance partners. One of those is the NetApp with the ONTAP SnapDiff API. This is a native change file tracking capability built into the ONTAP OS (differencing engine). This will help customers reduce the amount of time it takes for a NAS backup with changes to complete. This improvement was highly requested by our customers. It is easy to enable when you are adding an “Unstructured Data source” in VBR see link and figure 1 below.
