Hi,(Version 12.3.2, install on Bare Metal server - Dell - Windows Server 2022)A few months ago, we changed our antivirus: previously TrendMicro, now Microsoft Defender for Business. Since this change, restoring VMs larger than 2 TB no longer works. When we uninstall Defender, it works. Our first reaction was to open a service request with Microsoft. Unfortunately, this has been dragging on for several weeks! Microsoft can't find where it's blocking us or why, despite a phenomenal number of exclusions (much more than Veeam recommends – article kb1999).Error message :Backup not opened Agent failed to process method {Mount.QueryVolumesOnMountedDevice}Do you have any idea what might be blocking the restoration of VMs larger than 2 TB? Thanks,
After receiving an NFR key from Devolutions I headed over to their website and looked around at the documentation. It may be overwhelming to see how much documentation there is, but after browsing some more I realized it is just due to the fact that this software can do so much, and you can configure everything with extreme granularity. There are also many functions the software suite can do.Today we will look at the Remote Desktop Manager and configure cloud based version to save creating any servers and save some time. First, You create your hub, I decided to go with business, but created a personal one after to see the differences. At this point, you will Download and save your emergency kit. Keep this somewhere safe incase you ever loose your account password.Next click on licenses and apply your key. That was pretty much all you have to do to get started. The next step I recommend is adding account recovery, MFA, and OTP to your account, especially if you add any type of credentia

Hello Community ! I am sharing these steps because, when dealing with SharePoint recovery, I encountered several issues that need to be considered, and the online guide is not very clear.First, you need to consider what permissions are required to use the Veeam Explorer for SharePoint tool:https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/explorers/vesp_permissions.html?ver=120 First, let's start with the necessary environment:VBR: Veeam Server in workgroupVM_MSSQL: Server MSSQL, on AD domain, with the same version of Microsoft SQL Server installed on which SharePoint is hosted and which will act as “staging server”.Server backup jobs must have Application-Aware correctly configured: Install the Veeam console on the VM_MSSQL server of the same version as the one on the VBR.Check the name of the instance on the DB Server running SharePoint and add a registry key on the VBR server and on the VM_MSSQL server. In our example, we have:SRVSHAREPOINT: SharePoint serverSRVDB: MSSQL server with SharePo
One of the great things about AI is that it can be improved in the background, and Veeam Intelligence is no different. I have used AI (namely a GPT) to create a YARA rule, which I’ve found to be easier and servicing quicker than finding some shared online. It is no surprise that Veeam Intelligence is here to help in the same regard. I had a discussion with @kirststoner12 about this and sure enough - Veeam Intelligence was able to do this generative AI task within Veeam. I did a simple prompt:Can you generate a YARA rule to look in backups for credit card numbers stored in plain text? The result was rather quick and created in Veeam intelligence with ease: This is just one quick example of how you can use Veeam Intelligence to have some AI-powered resources right inside of your Veeam Backup & Replication console.
Long-time reader, first-time poster. I thought I’d document my initial experience with Vault from a Veeam Cloud Service Provider (VCSP) perspective, to share the journey with others who may be heading down the same path and to highlight a few gotchas. As with anything new, your mileage may vary and subject to change. We started with a Backup as a Service customer who wanted to use vendor-backed cloud storage. They had spoken to Veeam, were happy with the offering, and it was something we were planning to explore anyway as an alternative to Wasabi. Gotcha #1 – As of writing, VCSPs cannot consume Vault through the VCSP programme and must instead purchase it as a “traditional transaction” through distribution (at least here in New Zealand). What became clearer later in the journey was that there’s a restriction in the VCSP programme requiring the provider to purchase and “own” the storage subscription. This could be an issue depending on the customer type and use case—particularly if they
As you already know, each month, we'll be highlighting a specific Veeam-related registry key to help you better manage and fine-tune your environment. For our post this August, we're diving into a crucial registry setting that can help you avoid potential storage issues: SqlTempLogPath.By default, Veeam chooses the local disk with the most free space to temporarily store SQL log backup files before they're moved to your backup repository. On busy SQL servers, this can quickly consume a lot of disk space. With the SqlTempLogPath registry key, you can manually specify a different location for these temporary files, giving you greater control over your storage. To learn more about how this works and get a step-by-step guide on how to implement it, check out the full blog post here: https://integriservices.blogspot.com/2025/07/regkey-of-month-august.htmlI'd love to hear your thoughts on this key and any other registry settings you'd like us to cover in the future!

Hi,I am kinda new to Veeam Backup. We do have some remote linux hosts without any internal connection to our local infrastructure. Now, to not use the internet directly, I installed Netbird (just like Tailscale) and connected both, the Veeam Server and the Linux Host. That works, all good. Now when I add the Host as Managed Server, the initial SSH Connection works and the Netbird IP is being used but then everything else is trying the WAN IPs which, of course, is not wanted and also blocked. So the Setup never finishes. Does anyone know what I could do here?ThanksAndreas
I wanted to post this for everyone who uses VB365 and PGBouncer with Postgres with the recent upgrade 8.1.2.180.When trying to run this upgrade I ran in to an issue with the following error which was caused by connecting to Postgres via the PBBouncer 6432 port. I had to stop services, modify the XML files back to 5432 (default PG port) and then run the upgrade. Once complete I could then revert back to 6432 for PGBouncer and start up the services again.Error seen during upgrade -
Hi All,I look for confirmation if Veeam B&R supports backups of SQL Encrypted databases on a Always ON environment. This with standard backup (vmware agent less) and via a a job with the windows agent both with application awarness. Thanks,Benny
Hi Not sure if this is the right place I have tried R&D forums.I use Veeam for Windows free backing up endpoints to NAS drives.I have a clients endpoint that's has been running fine for a long time but now gets stuck at 40% and in the end fails with Application Failed. Its stuck in backing up the C driveI have tried all the obvious, updated to latest, reinstalled, deleted job and recreated the database but still seeing the issue. Run chkdsk not issues with diskAnyone seen this before?

I would like to share with you of an upcoming change to how partners will access the Veeam Hands-on Labs through the ProPartner Portal. As part of our ongoing efforts to enhance the partner experience and drive efficiencies across our platform, we are transitioning to a new access model for Hands-on Labs. Moving forward, all partners will be able to access the Global Hands-on Labs Registration page, where the full suite of Veeam Hands-on Labs is available to both Customers and Partners. This unified approach will make it easier for you to explore the complete range of labs offered by Veeam. Additionally, within the ProPartner Portal, you will continue to have access to a reduced, carefully selected set of Hands-on Labs. These labs will focus on areas most relevant to our partners, such as installation and configuration, ensuring that you have quick access to the content that best supports your business and technical needs. We believe this update will bring greater value to our partners

Hi everyone,I'm facing an issue while restoring Jenkins data using Veeam. Specifically, when I try to restore the config-history folder (which contains Jenkins configuration history), the restore fails. However, if I attempt to restore a smaller subset of data, it completes successfully.Details: Veeam version: 12.3.2 Backup type: VM-level Error message/log snippet: a connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond Veeam Support - Case # 07775632Has anyone encountered this before? Could it be related to file size, permissions, or something else? Thanks in advance!

Hi, I was not able to make a comment on the NFR Thread - so I had to create a new. Im a VMUG member and have introduced Veeam to a number of customers and I’m running it in my homelab on NFR licenses. 20 VMs is a challenge as I have over 100 VMs but now I’m protecting the 20 most critical. Just recently i decided to use Veeam for my Fileshare as well as this would allow me to easilly create a cloud backup job (S3) as well as a tape job (I have an LTO-6 FC tape in the lab) However its not clear how Fileshare licenses is done, I assumed one Fileserver was one workload - but after I created one and copied 3TB or so of data I could no longer run any additional jobs. This was strange as my intention was to have a few fileserver backup jobs where secondary jobs would kick in - some fileshares would get an S3 copy, some would land on tape and so on. The license says (500G) and I have 6 instances, does this mean 3TB of data? Thanks.
