Every year the Veeam V100 Summit feels like coming home – only with way more NDAs, swag, and Czech beer. This invitation-only event brings together Veeam Vanguards, Legends, MVPs, and the most active user-group leaders, plus a hefty dose of the product-management team. It’s Veeam’s way of saying “thank you” to the community while giving us an exclusive look behind the curtain. Prague was the perfect host city (again), and the 2025 edition was, without a doubt, one of the best yet.
Day 0 – Monday: SureBackup Deep-Dive & Swag pick-up
The summit kicked off with an optional but highly recommended workshop on SureBackup – hands-down the most underrated feature in Veeam Backup & Replication. Everyone says they love it, yet hardly anyone uses it to its full potential. Tim and Wesley delivered an excellent update on new capabilities and best practices, capped off with a demo.
Afterward? Swag collection time. Pro tip: always fly with an almost-empty suitcase. This year’s haul included USB sticks, flashlights, shorts, jackets, polo’s and drones.
Day 1 – Tuesday: Plenary and Yellow Sessions & the Dalrymple Toast
Tuesday started early in the main hall. We heard about the recent acquisition of Security.ai and got sponsor love from Wasabi and Object First
Then it was breakout time. I jumped into the VDP and VRO tracks – both yellow .
Post-lunch highlights: - AI-Powered Veeam features: a fascinating walkthrough of the engine and real-world use cases. - Hypervisor updates: a red (but incredibly enlightening) session on the Broadcom/VMware landscape and Veeam’s strategic response. The day closed with the traditional Dalrymple Toast. Even though Craig Dalrymple couldn’t join us, the tradition lived on. This year felt especially poignant: we honored the late Brad Jervis (Vanguard) by introducing the Brad Jervis Trophy, awarded for the first time to Jim Jones. A beautiful, emotional moment that reminded us why this community is so special.
The “free” evening turned into dinner and drinks with old friends who are now so much more than just Summit acquaintances – plus a few enthusiastic first-timers who tagged along. That’s the magic of V100: shared passion creates instant bonds.
Day 2 – Wednesday: sessions and Party
Wednesday was packed: - Morning: Application backup plugins + secret projects and Flings (super useful stuff). - Mid-morning: Veeam Platform UX Technology Overview – a brand-new session type for me.Watching the team explain the thought process behind every button and workflow was an absolute eye-opener. Simple on the surface, insanely detailed underneath. - Afternoon: Architecture tools evolution (vHC, sizers, blueprints) +
The formal program ended, as always, with the legendary AMA session. No topic off-limits, no holds barred (and everything deep-red NDA, naturally). Anton Gostev couldn’t make it this year, but the PM team handled the barrage of questions.
Then the real fun began: the closing party at the Pilsner Urquell brewery. Unlimited beer, great food, a very busy photobooth, and the kind of conversations that only happen when you put 100+ data-protection nerds in one room. A smaller crew continued the celebrations at The Dubliner until the “one last beer” rule was thoroughly ignored.
Day 3 - Thursday: Goodbye (for now)
Breakfast and a steady stream of people heading to the airport. Bags heavier (thanks, swag), heads full of new ideas, hearts full of memories. Final Thoughts V100 2025 was – once again – phenomenal. I came home with: - A brain full of new knowledge (some I can talk about, most I can’t… yet) - Fresh inspiration and a long list of things I want to try in the lab - Stronger relationships with like-minded people from all over the world A massive thank you to
