As described in the title, I would like to explain in this blog post why a Veeam Hardened Repo and Object First is a great combination.A Veeam Hardened Repository and an Object First appliance each offer specific advantages for backups and restores, security, etc., but they also have their weaknesses. From a technical and cyber security perspective, combining both approaches offers a significantly stronger, more resilient backup architecture than either concept alone.I work on a lot of Veeam projects for SMEs, SMBs, and enterprise customers. I see the combination of the two products as being more suitable for the SMEs and SMBs sectors. So turns out using Deployment Kit is the easiest way to be able to perform FLR to Windows from a Vsphere backup.Deployment kit by default contains a certificate of validity 1 month. Does the agent (transport service etc.) stop working after that? How do we manage those certs as we generally do not do many agent-based backups but want to be able to do FLR to original destination nevertheless.Thanks!

Version: 12.3.2.Problem: a copy job to a rotation drive (HDD) is running since 3 days. I stopped job and confirmed with yes, but since hours status in dashboard running jobs is “stopping”. I can disable job but not delete. What I did: restart B&R services, reopen console. Restarted whole backup server. no success. Thanks for any advices. 

Turns out that VCSP licensing for Entra for a tenant which is a multi tenant organization can become very expensive very fast… Here’s the situation, a holding with 70 employees. (nice Microsoft E5 licenses) there is a central IT and HR department that shares information to their subisidaries which are connected in multi tenant organization structure to see availability, better collaboration in Teams,…. Now we ran our initial Entra ID backup and it consumes 1200 points, where I assumed that only the real physical users with the E5 were going to eat a license. All those users fron the external tenants are of the type ‘membe’ in Entra, so this is used to calculate the number of licenses. It becomes even more expensive I think since we need for compiancy reasons also an Entra ID backup from all the subsidary tenants… Anybody any toughts on this ? I don’t see any option to soley backup the member users for which their tenant is their primary main tenant.

Veeam Backup and Replication v12.3.2 (Free)VMWare ESXi 8.0 (Free) Hello Community! I’m hoping someone here can help me.I have successfully  backed up a physical Windows server using Veeam agent. Created a recovery media to use for restore into a VM. I have created the VM with similar CPU/RAM/Disk as the physical server. Powered on VM and booted it using the recovery media. During the restoration, the process fails with these error messages (see below). I tried looking for the logs in C:\ProgramData\Veeam\Backup but there were so many in there so I couldn’t which one to look for. If anyone has an idea on how I can resolve this issue, please let me know. Yes, I know, the OS is no longer supported — a redesign project is planned soon. To quickly improve backup security, we set up a Vault. Unfortunately, during the integration I received the following message: I didn’t see any specific prerequisites in the Veeam documentation regarding the operating system for integrating VDC Vault.After going through several pages, I found this in the Help Center: Make sure you have WebView2 Runtime installed on your backup server.Once it was installed, we were able to complete the configuration and create our backup copy job.Cheers !

Hi everyone,I’m studying the v13.0.1 training course in order to delivery its next year, during reading the course material, I found the information that not all functionalities are available on VBR Windows still available on VSA, I’m trying to find a list of those unavailable functionalities, but so far, I couldn’t get a list of them, does anyone know what functionalities are not available on VSA v13?

When we enable MFA, then all users is forced to use MFA. In case we need do execute script by powershell, how we can exclude so the powershell script still can operate normally?

Good afternoon everyone,I'm using the latest version, 13, but after restarting my server, I can no longer connect to the console. It shows an SSL error, "see inner exception," but I haven't been able to find them to get more information. Could you please help me?  

We’re setting up the Veeam Software Appliance (VSA). We got an error when we tried to connect to our storage device, "Failed to get certificate from: https://xxx.xxxxxx.xxx:5392." technical support has advised us to “ensure that the cipher suite 'TLS_RSA_WITH_AES_256_CBC_SHA256' is enabled on the Veeam appliance.”The command “openssl version -d” returns “OPENSSLDIR: "/etc/pki/tls".” When I try to edit openssl.conf in that folder, I get an error, “E45: 'readonly' option is set”. How can I enable the cipher?Thanks for reading.

Hi Community, During Veeam Agent backup, you may see: Collecting recovery media files. Details: Windows recovery image file not found This means Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) is missing or disabled. Solution: Work for me this morning.Run on target VM. reagentc /setreimage /path C:\Windows\System32\Recovery; reagentc /enable!--scriptorendfragment-->!--scriptorstartfragment--> Note: If WinRE files or the recovery partition are missing, you can ignore this warning backup is valid.(See diagram below for quick steps.)   

Hi, I’m running the most recent B&R CE version 13.0.1.180 and trying to create a recovery thumb drive.  I have tried multiple USB sticks and keep getting the same error:  Preparing USB disk Error: The system cannot find the path specified.   I know the USB sticks are good as they are new and I have tried multiple batches.  Anyone else experiencing this?

Hello  Can you connect a Veeam Infrastructure Appliance (VHR) hardened repository to Veeam Backup & Replication (VBR) which [(VBR) is running ver 12.3.2]i'm assuming is via SSH,  My question is three-fold is this at all possible?if possible which user account is recommend?Does this require su if sudo fails current user accounts veeamadmin veeamsvccreate new one? how do make new account sudo if veeamsvc where do you find single use password?Are there any KB or blog on todo do this?I know the simple answer is update VBR to version 13, this is work seamlessly.I’m looking at this from a backwards capability point of view . Thanks
