what is the best option to integrate nimble storage directly with veeam or to present it as disk on veeam servers and configure backup repository.considering backing up physical infra as well..
Hii Guys, I'm trying to find a backup to tape strategy on veeam, our company has the following two backup policies:1. Daily Policy- Backup job runs every day, job schedule starts at 07:00 PM and must be finished before 06:00 AM.- Using the Forever forward incremental method- Backup defragment is done once a week- Backup Health Check is done once a week- Retention policy is set for 30 restore points2. Weekly Policy- Job backup runs once a week, starting at 07:00 PM and must be completed before 06:00 AM.- Using the Forever forward incremental method- Backup defragment is done once a week- Backup Health Check is done once a week- Retention policy is set for 4 restore pointsHere's what I want to achieve:1. Backup is stored on tape for 1 month2. Media pool in one month is divided into 4 media sets3. Use as little tape as possible (Due to the limited number of tapes) Can someone give me some input on how to configure it to reach my target, or can anyone give me better input for my backup str
While presenting our powerful file share protection and recovery capabilities, I often show the Instant File Share Recovery feature. One possible purpose for this feature is scanning the share with an AV solution. For this, I created this script to be able to quickly show it to our customers and partners:https://github.com/yetanothermightytool/powershell/blob/master/vbr/vbr-nas-scanner/More to come....stay tuned
Hi Community, I have configure my secondary backup location as aws-s3 object storage. previously I used virtual tape backup to aws via aws tape gateway. Hello,I have an interrogation, about how Veeam works with Forever forward Incremtal backup job and immuability.I know that’s not possible to use this kind of job with an hardened repository, even if you try to configure it, Veeam will pop up an error message. But how it work with capacity tier with object lock enabled?Veeam doesn’t transfer all data block to the capacity tier but only the new data blocks and metadata from each new backup file. (System similar to ReFS/XFS). I read the documentation about block generation but it’s not really clear in my head.If someone have a schema that would be nice.thanks

Some of you may have noticed a certificate validation error when using the Automatic Update function in the Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 console. The error is due to a certificate expiring (which is needed to validate server updates). There is no cause for concern; the certificate was not compromised, and the option to manually patch the server was not interrupted. This certificate has since been updated, but a manual patch is needed to get the new certificate for validation. For those who want the quick fix, head over to KB4341. The rest of this article will cover some good-to-know information about certificates and some lessons learned. What is PKIWe commonly hear the term “certificates” with applications or websites and understand this is generally associated with security but may not understand what role certificates play. To start, let's talk about what a certificate is. A digital certificate is used to initiate an information exchange in two major parts; first, by saying, “ you

Hello,I'm using Veeam 11 community edition. I'm having trouble booting from the recovery media. First of all the "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD" is displayed in German. When I do press a key the system hangs at a screen with the blue 4 pane window image, a MS Windows image. I also noticed I don't get the option to include drivers when building the image. Please let me know if you have any ideas.Thank you,Frank
So part one of the Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 discusses the shared responsibility model and outlines both Microsoft and Customer responsibilities. I also took at why you need to backup briefly but will dive more into this for part two. You can find resource links and part one here - Part 1 When it comes to backing up your Microsoft 365 data, there are seven reasons why you NEED to back it up -Accidental deletion: This is actually the most common cause of data loss in Microsoft 65. If you delete a user, whether you meant to or not, that deletion will then be replicated across the netw rk. A backup could restore that user, either to on-premises Exchange or Microsoft 365. Retention policy gaps and confusion: Retention policies in Microsoft 365 are designed to help organizations comply with regulations, laws and internal policies that require that they retain or delete content; they are not back ps. But even if you do rely on your retention policy in place of a backup, these retention
It’s that time of the week again! Happy Friday everyone! Following on from last week’s Fun Friday, what’s your favourite tech YouTube channel or TikTok account? It hasn’t got to be related directly to backups, just anything technology related 😊 For me it has to be John Savill’s YouTube channel:https://www.youtube.com/c/NTFAQGuyI’ve used him extensively to help study for exams and expand my knowledge of the Azure platform. What’s yours? 😁

Hello guys! The question is in the title 😄: How do you use Surebackup Job?I ll not remade the speech why it’s important to apply the 3-2-1-1-0 rule and why we have to perform restore tests at recurring intervals. A backup it’s good, a verified backup without errors it’s better !Personally I have two use casesThe first one: Application GroupI create a dedicated job for an application group, when I need to create a sandbox, test specifics roles with vms who must be interconnected or if I need to test only one VM for troubleshoot for example. In the configuration of my surebackup job I select only my Application group. The second : Linked JobIn this case, I want to test all my VMs in backup jobs. Unlike a job in Application Group mode, which starts one vm at a time and if one of the tests on a vm fails, the job fails immediately. With the Linked Job option, Veeam can start several vms in the Datalab environment in parallel, if a test fails on one vm the job continues to perform checks on t
I am attempting Connect to Repository in community edition to my Google Cloud account. I have my access and secret keys and am able to connect to my bucket but do not see any folders listed when I browse so I am unable to complete adding the repository. I made sure the folder was created before I created the secret keys and I have tried several attempts with new/different projects within G-cloud. Any idea why it can see my bucket but not the folder? I have given the service account within G-cloud owner rights. Thanks for any help or suggestions
Hi,we have 4 different backup priorities and vCenter Tags which our VMs are assigned to. Now i would like to implement 3 different vCenter Tags for application-aware processing options. Unfortunatly i can’t remove the Prio4 Tag from aap settings, because it’s used for default. Whats happens if a VM has assigned 2 Tags in aap options? Is there some kind of hierarchy which option will be used? What would be best practise in this case?
UPDATE: Please see Update 3, as the hotfix/workaround needs to be undone because of possible side-effects.Just a quick information.Currently there could be an issue with Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 and Sharepoint. Some sites will be backed up with the following warning:Processing site XYZ finished with warning: Failed to backup list: XYZ. Unknown ErrorI have seen this with 2 different customers and Veeam support is aware of this issue and actively working with Microsoft on it. At the moment I don’t have any further information, but I’ll keep updating this post.Update 1:I just found out that there's already a hotfix available: https://www.veeam.com/kb4326I haven't tested it so far, but will report back next week. Also here's the corresponding R&D forums post: https://forums.veeam.com/veeam-backup-for-microsoft-365-f47/warning-on-my-sharepoint-site-t81314.htmlUpdate 2:It looks like the issue itself is gone since Saturday; perhaps Microsoft did change something on their side. I did

Hi Everyone, When trying to create a post with multiple or one big code box the post does not get created and instead goes back to the green create post button. Is anyone aware of any limitations for code box sizes or code box numbers in relation to post text? Thanks
Hi, I am the end user and currently subscribe to cloud connect from a service provider. I am running into an issue where I have totally crushed my bandwidth limits at my DC location because of backups. I would like to shift my backup traffic to use a different gateway, much like I am able to do with object storage, but I am not seeing an option for the service provider configuration to select a different gateway. Is the only option for my backup copies to go to the cloud connect provider through the Veeam server and not a different gateway?
Hello everybody! I’m doing a restore guest file and I notice this message: Yeah! I’m trying to restore theses files directly on a file share path and I almost sure that it was possible without to mount to console option. What you think about it?
Veeam have today released the long-awaited update to Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 (VB365), v6a.This release has been overshadowed by Microsoft’s controversial changes being made to the Teams backup process, forcing vendors such as Veeam to cease using EWS as a mechanism to backup Teams data, instead insisting on the use of the Teams Graph API. Why is this controversial? Because the Teams Graph API is billable per query. You can read more about this in my full blog post here. There are two key notes I’d like to highlight on this v6a release: Permissions Changelog Veeam are now including a permissions changelog for the Azure AD Application, vs the v6 release. This contains any newly required permissions, changed permissions or removed permissions, as well as describing the usage of these permissions. This is available within the v6a release notes, available here. Alt Text: Image displaying the permissions tables within the release notes Microsoft Teams API will NOT be enabled by default
Hello Everyone, one questions always get asked if it is possible to know “who has touched/restored what and when” to audit for compliance or for any other requirement. For Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365, there is already great information published in the post(s) and blog of Jorge, explaining all in very great detail: https://community.veeam.com/blogs-and-podcasts-57/vb365-restore-audit-the-definitive-guide-2557Possibly, where you need a quick dump of all restore activities (now!), you may also utilize PowerShell interacting with the RESTAPI of VBM365 and list all restore sessions and their events. And the script below is just an “example” to achieve such. You may play with all properties per your needs and create output as you require, even the modified output could even be used to feed into some other applications. (Currently it is only for v6)RestoreSession and RestoreSessionEvent is what we need to use mainly. The script finds the restore sessions, and then iterates through each of
