I’m a user of Veeam B&R Community Build 11.0.1.1261, and I’ve just started experiencing a problem a second time that I thought was fixed. Some time ago (a couple of weeks to a month), I started experiencing an issue with Veeam backups. When it would try backing up, it would quickly error out with the following error:Warning Failed to synchronize [Backup Repository] Details: Failed to call RPC function 'NfsIsExist': Failed to reset previous connection exception: Permission denied. The first time that happened, I assumed it was because I was disabling Veeam services that I thought were unnecessary. Despite re-enabling them, the error persisted. I eventually realized my installation of B&R was out of date, so I installed an updated version and that seemed to fix the issue for the time being.Fast forward to today, and I’m seeing the aforementioned error again when trying to run backups. The repository is a Synology DiskStation, and I can verify that the share is accessible from a

k10toolsTried to use cephfs provisioner: rook-ceph.cephfs.csi.ceph.com by the “k10tools” command and portal. Both the result is failed to create snapshot and backup with PVC and data. May I know if there is any method to use cephfs provisioner with Kasten to backup? And, Since the PVC has to set AccessMode as ReadWriteMany, the rook-ceph.cephfs.csi.ceph.com provisioner can’t be insteaded with rook-ceph.rbd.csi.ceph.com
This week @Madi.Cristil and @Rick Vanover get back into regular recaps! The #100 episode live stream was a great hit, we’re so grateful that many of the community members showed up live to support the Veeam Community. We’re so thankful for each member, given that this is the time of year to be thankful; it’s especially poignant. Thank you Veeam Community. Hey Veeam community. I am starting my New Year’s resolution early and posting my first video on YouTube. It’s a walkthrough of Veeam Backup for Salesforce. I’m planning to post more videos as I find it helps deepen my understanding of various Veeam solutions. I hope to document some parts of Veeam products that I found challenging or hard to implement. I welcome all comments as I know there are a bunch of people here with much more experience at this than I have. Have a great rest of 2022! Cheers!
Hi Folks, This is a good time of year to look back and be grateful for things that we have. I think everyone will agree here that the Veeam Community Hub is a stellar success! I wanted to thank the Veeam folks, past and present who have made this place what it is. @Rick Vanover @Madi.Cristil @NikolaPejkova @Kseniya @safiya work/worked very hard to not only keep this place running but to proactively improve it. Even with such success they remain humble and approachable people. As everyone in IT knows, when things are working well people take it for granted (I had a non IT boss once who rather foolishly 😆 claimed to upper management during a meeting that “these systems just run themselves”) but we know they don’t. In contrast, when things go badly the blame game gets targeted squarely on the humans behind the machines or systems. The same is very true about the Community Hub, “It Just Works” in Marketing jargon, but translated into human dialect “It Just Works because of the efforts of
Hope you got my present everyone ?

Hello fellow Veeamers, I’m hoping someone can provide me some guidance here. Has anyone deployed a solution using Veeam on DellPoweredge server and Dell storage appliances ? I am doing some research to replace my current Veeam setup which is all local storage at the moment running on a big serverwith loval disks. I want to stick with Dell just because we standirized on this platformall around, but I am looking for guidance on backing up local onprem datacente, and what is best approach for ramsonware protection, do I ship off a second set to azure or what about mutable backups on loval prem or cloud? Thank you
One of my roles at Veeam is to work with our Technology Alliance Partners, resellers, and customers assisting them with their object storage related questions. Quite often I need to be able to analyze the S3 API requests that Veeam’s software sends to the object storage repository. One of my favorite tools that I use for this analysis is S3 bucket access logging.By enabling this feature on a bucket, you will be able to capture information on all requests made to that bucket. Requests like PUT, GET, and DELETE are all gathered and stored in a log that you specify when you enable the logging. Please Note: Not all object storage solutions support the S3 bucket access logging, so make sure that you check their documentation and/or support to verify that they support it.You can either use the interface provided by your object storage solution or you can use the AWS CLI. In this article I will use the AWS CLI.The first step is we need a dedicated bucket to store our S3 logs in. It is a
Sometimes, I hate to see the limited information offered in the GUI. This has not changed for quite some time now. Veeam should look into enhancing the way GUI displays the contents. Do you agree?

Hello community! Some customers asked for it and here is it (a little X-mas present for the community):The NAS Hash Comparer. This script launches an Instant File Share Recovery for a specified file share backup job and compares the hash value using the given parameters. More details can be found on my GitHub page: https://github.com/yetanothermightytool/powershell/blob/master/vbr/vbr-nas-hashcompare/README.mdHappy HolidaysSteve
Hi allWhat is the best practice to physically rotate backup drives.I have a remote system that I will go to once a month to change or rotate the drives. So ejecting the drive and connecting the new drive with out effecting the backup repositry.System is a physical Windows 10 Pro with Veeam Backup & Replication not VM. Thanks,
It shouldn’t be news to you that Veeam B&R had 2 critical vulnerabilities (CVSS 9.8/8.8) in March 2022. Patches were released for v10a and v11a at that time. Here’s the corresponding KB article and a post from @Iams3le:Veeam KB4288If you haven’t updated yet, then here’s another good reason.Last week the Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) added both vulnerabilites to their known exploit catalog. This means that attackes are now actively exploiting the vulnerabilities and targeting environments which use Veeam B&R.CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilites Catalog I hope you don’t need more reasons to keep your Veeam installation up-to-date? Please also keep in mind that any other Veeam build below v10 is also affected. But as those are already End of Fix/Support, they didn’t receive any patches.
Hi everyone,I have backup job stored on SOBR(Windows on-prem storage+azure blob). While backup is offloading to azure, it is getting cancelled because backup job runs. Is it possible for both offload goes on and backup runs without cancelling?
Hi everyone, I want to post a step by step guide of a migration from an old Vmware DC to a new one with focus on Migration \ Replication of an Active Directory environment, unfortunately the guide is quite long and over 50000, it is possible to increase it or I have to fragment my post on the blog? Thanks, I look forward to a kind reply.
When it comes to sizing a new Backup environment or just new repository server, one metric that is always asked is the daily change rate. You can also see in the most popular - unofficial - Veeam sizer:https://rps.dewin.me/ https://rps.dewin.me/rpc/ Even with VeeamONE it was not simple to get this information easily for VMs and physical machines. This gap was closed with the version v11a of Veeam ONE. The previous report named VM Change Rate History was replaced by the new Data Change Rate History. Fortunately not just the name changed, it also gets some new features! What's new in report configurationIncludes Agent backups. Now these job-types are supported: VM Backup Replication Agent Backup You can select the base of change rate calculation: Data transferred or read. What's new in the report itselfIncludes a nice graph for change rate history - for VM and agent data. Includes daily change rate. In Summary In detail - per machine This is a great help for siz

There has been a significant focus on how to make Veeam Backup resilient to ransomware. More specifically - how to have Veeam backups available for recovery in case of an incident. In the past few months, I have had discussions with customers who have successfully recovered their production data after a ransomware attack. The common theme among these successful recoveries has been the availability of a secondary off-site copy of their backups to recover from, as their primary backup repository was compromised and destroyed outside of the Veeam software.Veeam ransomware protection should be the customers’ focus, and it is always a priority goal in my architecture designs. Secure by design is also a core design principle of the Veeam Architecture team.Off-site backup copies can provide an additional layer of data security:They are usually behind a VPN with a robust firewall deployment They are typically kept on a different network segment They often use an additional authentication metho
Guys, I've created a script to automatically create SPO and Teams jobs. Main features includeCreate jobs for all currently unprotected SPO sites and teams Build jobs based on a object-limit per job (incl. recurse option to cope with SP subsites) Distribute jobs over different repositories automatically (which includes proxy balancing of course) Add matching teams to the same job as the SP site as per BP Automatic scheduling with delays per job (configurable) All built on the VB365 API - so no M365 application or so required Include & excludes possible Can put objects in a job pointing to a repository which already contains backups of this objectThe script is available on VeeamHub: powershell/VB365-JobManager at master · VeeamHub/powershell (github.com) I already have two larger customers using versions of this script and am looking for more feedback of course.
