But do you know all of those file extensions? Here is a list of the main files: .vbm - backup chain metadata file.vbk - full backup file.vib - incremental backup file.vrb - reverse incremental backup file.bco - configuration backup file.lde - veeam explorer exported file.ldf - Microsoft SQL Server Log file.mdf - Microsoft SQL Server master database file.vsm - Microsoft SQL Server transaction log backup.vom - Oracle database log file.lock - lock file.vblob - file that stores data from the file share (NAS) backup job.vindex - binary metadata file that describes backup files (names and versions) of file share backup job.vslice - binary metadata that describes allocation of data in VBLOB backup files Have you in mind any other kind of file extension that are associated with Veeam?Put here on the comments that I will add to this list.

VEEAM 100 SUMMIT IN PRAGUE Last week I had the great pleasure to attend the Veeam 100 Summit in Prague Czech Republic.This event is the highlight of the year for the Veeam Community and the atmosphere and energy it creates is enough to keep one fueled with IT enthusiasm until the next summit.So what is the Veeam 100? I’d like to first thank Rick Vanover, Madalina Cristil, Nikola Pejková, and everyone at Veeam for their efforts and support leading into my second Veeam 100 Summit. It’s a HUGE undertaking that requires many levels of coordination. This was my second time attending the event in person. In addition to bringing new cybersecurity features, one of the focuses is improving the ability to protect data stored in Object Storage.It is a critical demand for organizations to store data related to modern applications or any unstructured data related to the business.It will be possible to take data from object storage and store it in backup repositories of any type: block, file, object storage, or even tape.There will be flexible recoveries in restoring the entire buckets, including permissions, attributes, and tags.You will perform granular recoveries on individual objects and restore specific object versions. Of course, the immutability, the ability to define object version, object archive, and Backup Copy will be supported.This is all based on the NAS backup technology of Veeam Backup & Replication. When the job ran, no files and only a few folders had been processed. When I browsed the backup, the folders I was critically aiming to protect were all missing.Upon further investigation of the share, the folders weren’t “actual” folders, but were instead unsupported symlinks. I discovered this because I attempted to change the scope of the backup job to a particular subfolder to confirm access. When I tried this, I received the following error message:Unable to backup root folder <Folder Name>: folder is unavailable. Invalid root item type: a file or a symlink is detected when a folder is required. Path: [Path [<Path>], RootId [ffffffffffffffff]]Well, that’s not good! Hey guys! Recently I write a blog post about restoring backups to AWS. I normally write in brazilian portuguese but I thought will be a good content to translate and send here too. Like a say, I will detail all the pre-requisites and scenarios to restore backups to AWS using Veeam.This can be useful in three scenarios:Restore your on-premises environment directly to EC2 machines on Amazon. Migrate your on-premises environment to AWS. Create a test environment of your on-premises infrastructure on AWS to validate patching, for example. Pre-requisites As always it is important that we understand the prerequisites of the solution. And in this case we are still involving a solution external to Veeam, which is AWS. Supported backup types  First, we have the supported Veeam backup types for restoring to AWS. Are they: Backups of vSphere or vCoud Director VMs created by Veeam Backup & Replication. This error happened to one of our clients. The backup chains’ status is good without any issues.VBR v12 guest file restore---happen error message is as below:Secondary GPT header LBA 209715199 exceeds the size of the disk (86401630720)Agent failed to process method {Mount.GenericMount)  I tried to change the mount server of the repository, but I still had no luck.This VM has only one virtual disk (C:) with 9GB of free space. I cannot restore files from any existing restore points. (actually, I cannot mount any restore point to the mount server).I tried to create a new test backup job to back up the VM and tried to restore the guest file from the first restore point (full backup chain) but got the same error. So, I expend the C drive to add 10GB more storage space to it, then rerun the backup job.Now, I can mount the incremental restore point, but I still cannot mount the full backup restore point.This issue is solved, but all the existing restore points cannot be mounted before expandi

If the backup jobs fail and show an error message is “Unable to allocate processing resources. Error: Unable to find Hyper-V hosts where VM 'xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx' is registered: Failed to connect to Hyper-V Integration Service on host, port 6163”. I tried to review the settings, and all of them look fine, but the backup jobs failed always. I have run into these issues sometimes, it’s easy to solve, you just need to reboot the Veeam management server or restart the Veeam services of the Veeam management server.
