I’m lucky enough to have been a Veeam Vanguard since 2021, and this was the first time the summit happened in Berlin.  Being my second Summit, I was more prepared traveling half way around the world this time, and excited to see everyone I previously met in Prague and Miami.   DAY 1On Day 1 I received my swag and checked in. The trophy was such a awesome surprise! My nephews wanted to play with it but I had to explain it’s on my desk because it isn’t a toy. The jacket fits perfect and I’ve already put the screwdriver to use. Due to passport issues I had to book my travel last minute and couldn’t get a spot in the VRO workshop. I didn’t bring a laptop but would in the future as spots do open up. As I’m looking at a quote for VRO right now it would have been a great workshop.  

This year marked the 5th year being priviledged enough to attend the Veeam100 Summit. Since my 1st attendance in 2018, the venue has normally been held in Prague, CZ. The Product Strategy Team decided to change things up a bit and hold this year’s event in Berlin, DE; that would be Deutschland , or Germany, for those who use Duolingo 🙂 . With the event being held in a new city, and getting a preview of some of the content decided upon to be shared, I was really looking forward to the event this year!The Summit was held the last week of October. I connected a new SAN and 2 servers that will be used for Veeam. These are just some “Hero numbers” of reads and intend to do a writeup of design with proper benchmarks in the future.  When you have an environment with a large quantity of data, you still need to be able to restore it quickly or run instant restores while you migrate to production.   For a preliminary test I connected 2 servers to a single SAN and created a few volumes to run IOMeter.  23.9k MBPS = 23.9GBps =191.2 Gbps.  with sub millisecond latency @ 240k IOPS I am very happy. There is always a bottle neck to account for in design.
