VBR 12.1.1 Backup Configuration Warning Failed to connect to Red Hat Virtualization plug-in.....

Hello,I got the same issue today after 11 → 12.1I can confirm after restarting service “Veeam RHV service” and execute again a backup configuration the error is gone.After this, I reboot the server, try it again and no error anymore.

I guess my question is how big are we talking here. Sounds pretty sizable. I would certainly look at specifying with dynamic groups. I’d probably have one job per domain unless you were going to break things down to one type (Exchange Online/Teams/OneDrive/Sharepoint Online) per job, but the recommendation of splitting that out should be going away with new versions (I don’t think the latest version made that recommendations obsolete yet). For me, really, it comes down to what makes the most sense from a data management perspective. Splitting it up too much makes it harder to manage and perhaps harder to run restores, but obviously one lump repository and job seems like it may not be sufficient for a larger org or orgs as well. For my individual smaller clients, I have on repo and one backup job per Organization. It works, though for my internal organization, it is pretty sizable and may benefit from breaking things up a little in backup run time and perhaps breaking up the sou

Issue to update postgre SQL on hardened VBR

That’s interessting because part of Best Practice Analyzer is to disable the windows script host. Also the script provided here will set this value to 0. https://www.veeam.com/kb4525 Regards Matze Yes, I mentioned it here ^^ :This happens because I follow the Veeam recommendation about hardening the server -> Disable VBS. But on the other way, Veeam canot manage how third party app works…. And when you have to install/update PostgreSQL at start, there is a VBS script running to check is prerequesites are met.I totally ignore how PostgreSQL work, I just face an issue on this morning and tried to find why it hapened.

Je suis désolé j’ai lu un peu trop vite la problématique. En effet, cela ne semble pas être la bonne piste et je dois avouer que je n’ai pas d’autres idées si jamais cela fonctionne en utilisant une autre clé USB…Les 2 problèmes que j’ai pu rencontrer sont : -Boot sur la clé USB non configuré dans le BIOS-SecureBootPeut être que quelqu’un aura de nouvelles pistes, sinon ne pas hésiter à ouvrir un ticket au support Veeam.

Bonjour, Une des cause possible est l’état du secureboot qui diffère entre ta machine en Windows 11 et celle en Windows 10.Pour cela, tu peux vérifier sous windows en exécutant la commande : msinfo32 Tu as une nouvelle fenêtre qui va s’ouvrir, tu peux vérifier la valeur du champ : Etat du démarrage sécurisé.Si jamais mon hypothèse est la bonne, tu dois avoir la valeur désactivé sur le W10 et activé sur le W11.Pour modifier ce paramètre, il faut aller dans le BIOS de la machine Windows 11 et désactiver le secureboot, réaliser ton opération de restauration puis réactiver le secureboot.

Hello @DavideAbrigo , If “hacker” get switch management password with your option because the password is stored in a keepass and someone get the password of the keepass => game over. In a proper configuration, all management devices should be accessible only on a separate VLAN. So a game over is caused by wrong network segmentation, not by credential harvesting :) I totally agree with you, IMM is a dedicated VLAN. However, you just need to have access to a workstation allowed to connect to this remote management and…. In big company, different people will manage network and backup but in smallest, it will often be the same people. I agree 100% about network segmentation but it’s just not enough to think it’s secured because you have VLAN and you can plug in the cable. Yeah, if we’re talking about internal threat, I absolutely agree!

Hello @DavideAbrigo ,It’s one option but will never be the best… Physically disconnect it is the only way to be sure no one can remotely connect to the server. He needs to physically connect the IMM first.If “hacker” get switch management password with your option because the password is stored in a keepass and someone get the password of the keepass => game over. It’s your choice to “accept” this risk or not.

Unable to run backup job in phisical UBUNTU server 22.0

Hello @isalinas What is your VBR version ?How did you install the agent ? Do you have several NIC card on the Ubuntu or a bound ? Try to keep it simple first to be sure it’s working fine.Do you opened the networks ports on the firewall ?On my side, I had no issue to install it but if you have secure boot enabled, you will have some to execute the job after this issue is solved

Hello,I just try the first lab with VCSP / Cloud connect and there is an issue with licence. I click on Update now and it works fine for VBR but for VCSP I always have the message your license key has expired… => I restarted all VCSP services + clear web cache and it’s working again.
