Since upgrading our backup server to Windows 2025, on Veeam the WD devices are showing as unavailable and we are unable to rejoin them to active directory. This has only happened since upgrading to windows server 2025
Not new to the software but new to setting up a backup system. I will be “promoted” to Backup Administrator and as part of the training I need to set up my own system. Currently, I have VEEAM B&R 12 installed on a desktop and running two tests - one successful, the other is a failure.Test One is creating a simple job - VEEAM to back up a directory on the same desktop which is my “server”. The job works fine, understand the setup and job tasks.Test TWO is creating a simple job to an endpoint (my laptop). I managed to set up the job and laptop has windows agent installed.VEEAM cannot:2025-05-28 1:42:45 PM Failed Failed to send backup job configuration to <laptop> Error: Failed to update backup job Managed by agent job ID: 04100ad7-e66a-4b4d-8221-74baf1c52987. Hi all,Relatively new to the community; been working with Veeam a while now, though! After finally sorting some bits out, I’ve built out a home lab to play with Veeam, but also use my own data as a way to gather experience about day-to-day use of Veeam (I am an architect, so naturally, I never touch the product in anger 🙄 - hoping to fixing that!)I’m loosely aware that the Veeam for Mac agent is relatively new, so while I understand there will be bugs, my current experience has been fairly frustrating (I don't want to treat this as a support-request post, so wont go into specifics). What is your experience of using the Mac agent so far?
I wanted to ask here in the community if anyone has developed a Veeam Tape report mainly for size reporting that they can share? I am looking in to VONE but the reports there are not sufficient enough for our reporting. We have a service that clients send to VCC then it tapes out for long term offline storage. So each month we need to automate reporting on size for each tenant of consumed data on tape.I am also asking in the Vanguard slack too about this so some of you may see this there as well. Also doing my Googling too. 😋
Hi Team,Got a VM running on a ESXi host. Need to add additional disk space to C: drive. However, couldn’t increase it any further using the VM properties under storage. The provisioned disk capacity is 230GB and the total disk utilization is closer to 230GB as well. The machine is thin provisioned. The connected SAN storage got free available space too. Just wondering the best option to add more disk capacity to C: drive please?Appreciate your feedback.kind regards,Andrew
Veeam 100 show is back! We took a pause in May, but we are back this month discussing how to tackle disaster recovery with Veeam Recovery Orchestrator. Hear from Veeam Vanguard, Justin to learn about his strategies for RTO/RPO, how VRO simplifies recovery on Azure and Hyper-V, and see real-world use cases showcasing VRO's orchestration and reporting capabilities. And stay tuned to see Justin give a live demo of VRO. Thanks @Faruge @benyoung for joining us this month! Happy Tuesday everyone! It seems like we have a clear winner this month, congratulations @Dynamic ! 👏
oracle linux virtualization manager is now supported in Veeam B&R and we have just started using it last week. Are there any plans to support it in Veeam One?
Hello, what are the minimum permissions that linux user needs to have to be able to do file level restore using Veeam?Setup is as it follows:I have Rocky Linux 9.5 OS VM and I have Win Server host where Veeam is located. The goal is to be able to do file level restore from that Linux server. The thing is I need user for it.What I would like to do, I only want the user to be able to do restore from one specific directory, I don’t want him to be able to see anything else or do anything else, except the restore part, what is the best way to achieve this?
We would like to clarify a few points about offloading backups to Azure Storage.1. Does the Veeam application support Azure Entra ID for offloading backups to Azure Storage?2. Can Azure Entra ID be used as an alternative to Shared Key access for connecting to Azure Blob Storage?3. Are there any limitations or challenges associated with integrating Azure Entra ID? If so, is there a roadmap for addressing these in future Veeam releases?
Hey There!I shared few days ago on the VMCA Study Hall Community some news regarding VMCA.After many successful years, we are bidding farewell to the Veeam Backup & Replication: Architecture and Design (VMCA) certification, with the training officially retiring on July 31st. If you have already completed your training, you can still take the certification, however hurry up as the VMCA exam will be retired on November 30th 😱 do not wait until the last minute, no exceptions will be done!As one era ends, another begins. Stay tuned for the new (very) exciting certification opportunities coming soon!
Hello,we have VMs on VMware platform.During VM restore they are removed from affinity rule from cluster level like host rule “should run” or “separate VM”. So in case A side is down is switched into side B and like proxy servers they cannot be 2 on the same esx host, so there is rule separate. As far as i know, only vSphere tags are restore. Is there any option how to restore these rules as well?thank you
I’m trying to investigate the levels of Veeam dedup/compression thats typically seen when using a non deduplication appliance. Is it really between 2:1 and 3:1? Again I’m thinking about typical VM workloads. Also if using XFS and fast clone it works in a similar fashion to dedup.Be interested if anyone has any data on data reduction thats “real world”thanks
Since WindowsServerBackup does not support backups of drives over 16TB, I thought I give Veeam Backup Agent for Windows. Unfortunately it only works for some days and then fails. But let’s start from the beginning. Host is Windows Server 2025 Bare metal File level backup to an external 3.5” HDD set to run dailyNow, let’s look at what happened: 9 days ago we created the job. This worked well until 5 days ago For some reasons, nothing happened 5 days ago 4 days ago, I got this error: this is rather starnge, since I was able to look at the drive E: that hosts the disk. I clicked manually to run another backup. This worked and created the succesful backup 4 days ago 3 days ago it also worked 2 and 1 day ago, again nothing happened. when I hover over Veeam, I see this error: any ideas what is happening here?
I just setup a new Windows 2025 Standard server and tried to install VeeamAgentWindows_6.3.1.1074. Unfortunately after accepting EULA the installation starts, shows “migrating previous configuration” (which is a little bit strange, since this is a new Windows machine) and is then stuck at "Installing Veeam agent for Microsoft Windows". C:\ProgramData\Veeam\Endpoint\DatabaseMigrationLog shows: [27.04.2025 22:25:03] <01> Info [Migration] SQL CONFIGURATION PARAMETERS:[27.04.2025 22:25:03] <01> Info [Migration] > Server=(local)[27.04.2025 22:25:03] <01> Info [Migration] > ServerInstanceName=VeeamEndPoint[27.04.2025 22:25:03] <01> Info [Migration] > ServerInstancePipeName=[27.04.2025 22:25:03] <01> Info [Migration] > ServerInstancePort=-1[27.04.2025 22:25:03] <01> Info [Migration] > DatabaseName=VeeamBackup[27.04.2025 22:25:03] <01> Info [Migration] > User=current[27.04.2025 22:25:03] <01> Info
We need to analyze why the error message is appearing during the backup window. The alerts are being triggered due to the replication process between the T and O servers. Specifically, these alerts occur during the backup window of the T server, which runs from 9:00 PM to 10:00 PM PST. During this period, replication from T to O is paused, resulting in theError 9036: "Paused for backup or restore."However, the alerts are only seen on alternate days, not consistently every day, which requires further investigation. T Server – File1 O Server – File2 Primary Concern:The question raised is why the production server experiences impact—such as replication delays or user access issues—during the backup window. While domain controller replication is standard across all servers, it appears only the file server is affected during its backup schedule.Currently, the file server is backed up using an Application-Aware Processing policy.Veeam’s Application-Aware Processing ensures backup consiste
We are getting an application that runs on MySQL and I need to know if & how Veeam can backup MySQL. So far I’ve found documentation on how to do this in Linux but not Windows. Im running VBR 12.3
How can I add new transactions to a DB without doing a full DB restore? Our DBA are trying to restore a DB to a new server. The DB is huge and the restore process takes several hours. Within those hours, there are new transactions coming in and being backed up using transaction logging. How can we add or restore those new transactions on top of the previously restored DB without doing another full restore using Veeam SQL Explorer? I tried several options but I always end up with the message below. Thanks again for your suggestions.
Hi All, I am trying to configure backup alerts for the Nutanix backups same as VMware in the Nutanix proxies using Azure by creating the App registration process, we have configured everting as per Veeam article but now while sending test email we are getting some SSL error also it is showing not authorized with Microsoft even though it is showing authorized during configuration. In Azure app registration for the same we have selected platform as single page application only, is that correct or we need to select platform as web? please help to resolve this issue as I am not getting much support from Veeam support. Need your help and advice for the same as for Mail configuration we are using Microsoft with modern authentication using port 587.
I need to migrate a bunch of Hyper-V VMs to a new Windows server for the first time. While researching different options I have seen some info online that Veeam can do this, but I can’t find clear instructions for VBR. Does anyone have any info or links on a guide? Or does this require additional Veeam software? I see various methods are available, but I’m getting into VBR and VBO and want to see what other tasks I can do with Veeam. Plus it seems like it may be an easy task with Veeam since we are already backing these up with VBR.
Hi, In a customer’s VBR 12.3.1.1139 server (free license) we are having some trouble achieving reliable backup times. It’s a big deduplicated file server (11TB of disks total) running on a Hyper-V VM. The software is installed on the host (WS 2022) and it backs up both host and vms. The backup repository is a QNAP NAS with 30TB of space connected via NFS with 10GB/s network. We tried having a job with periodic synthetic fulls and sometimes it took “only” 10 hours, but more often than not it would take more than 2 days. When this happens it seems to get “stuck” at a certain percentage so we cancel the job to leave room for it to continue making its daily backups.Same when merging backups in a forever incremental situation, sometimes it merges data in 3 hours, sometimes it takes 30, for the (presumably) same reason. The console says bottleneck is Target, but the NAS is pretty much new and it’s DEDICATED to backups only, there is nothing else there, the CPU does not work hard and the disk
升级到 veeam v12.3.1.113,但此客户端更新界面无法关闭。我该怎么办?
When updating a vcenter server appliance, part of the process is to replace the old vcenter VM with a new VM that has the same name. The problem I encounter is that the Veeam backup job fails because it seems like it’s trying to continue to backup the old VM which was deleted.…Processing vcenter Error: Cannot find Linux guest credentialsUnable to connect to guest OS for guest processing. Cannot find Linux guest credentialsError: Cannot find Linux guest credentials …Keep in mind that this VM was previously excluded from guest processing and indexing. I even removed the vcenter exclusions and re-added them to the job but when you run the guest credentials test, vcenter is listed twice and fails the tests even though its excluded. That VM shouldn’t even be tested since guest processing and indexing are disabled for Windows and Linux.Below are the errors from the guest credentials test:…6/5/2025 5:03:47 AM Failed Photon OS guest OS requires Linux credentials or a transport service installed
I have veeam latest version v12.3 and an existing redhat 9.3 server which I want to convert to a hardened repo. I know there are steps to setup a new server but this is an existing OS with the storage mounted already. I need to add all the STIG hardening etc so can someone share these steps before I add it as a hardened repo.thanks.
