Hello everyone, I'm trying to figure out the answer to a question which seems like it should be simple enough, and which I believe has been asked before in various forms, but which I've never seen really answered: How can we restore the Veeam server if the Veeam server itself is down, meaning that we can't run the Veeam software to perform a restore?I've seen several posts suggesting that the answer is in the extractor tool, but when I use the extractor tool, I get two files, both without any extensions: One very large file that seems to have some kind of serial number or GUID as a filename, and one file that begins with "digest". I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do with these two files, but if we have a server that won't boot, it seems logical to me that we would need some kind of boot media so that the server can boot before we do anything else, so I don't see how having two files would help without a way to boot the server itself.It seems to me, then, that we'd nee

We need to enable Data Compression in offsite location. right now our data domain (backup target) utilization is 95+%. so it is possible to do to compression?If yes then what is the risk factors & any impact?

I upgraded from 12.0 to 12.3.0.310. No other change.VBR runs fine, but now I cannot logon from my local console using the machine’s domain name; i can, however, using its IP address.I’ve tried:Remove the VBR server machine from the domain, then rejoin it - no change Ping the server with success NsLookup the server name with success Flush the DNS with IpConfig - no change Tried to rerun the VBR installer, but it can’t repair, only suggests to remove(!) VBRNothing about this in the release notes.Anything else to attempt? Or, has some bug been introduced with VBR 12.3 or its installer?  

Hello, We have noticed lately that the VSPC “Active Alarms” page is very noisy and hard to work in. All of the errors from both our VBR host servers and our Veeam Agent for Windows workstations all end up in the “Active Alarms” tab and it makes the page far too hectic to easily manage. I’d like to request the ability to separate the alarms by what service/agent is throwing the alarm. This would make it much easier for us to deal with the alarms coming in and allow us to more easily manage and resolve the alarms. Thank you,

We have veeam backup job running and retention period is 14 days. However I see there is data for the backup job for over 20 days. What file is missing from the backup file list that is causing this issues. Anything you can see that is missing?

Hello,I was working on setting up VB365 for our smaller company and had some questions about setting up the NATS server. We are using a single proxy server that is set up on the same server that the VB365 console is running on. We will mainly be backing up M365 mailboxes to object storage for a handful of users.I read here, “The NATS server ensures communication between backup proxy servers that you group into a backup proxy pool.” Since we aren’t using a proxy pool, and just a single proxy server, is NATS still relevant? I ask because I noticed that in the installation instructions here that it reads, “Important: By default, the NATS server that you deploy along with Veeam Back

Let me start by saying that I made a mistake. I upgraded a physical Dell R730XD from Server 2019 to Server 2025. It technically only supports up to Server 2019 but I didn’t find this out after having issues and doing research. The install went fine and Veeam ran perfectly for about 5 days. Then the server was locked up. I could only move the mouse and the CPU was pegged at 100%. I rebooted and it worked for a few days and locked up again. I noticed that after being on for about 15 minutes the CPU would quickly ramp up to 100% utilized and there was nothing I could do about it, even in Safe Mode with nothing running. Eventually after many reboots and testing sessions the OS will no longer boot.My only option was to install Server 2019 again on the original C: and restore Veeam with the backed up configuration file.I did this and reattached the compellent storage through iSCSI. Both the local server storage and compellent storage were recognized by Storage Manager

I’ve been reading examples of backing up VMs and OS where the Veeam WAN accelerators are beneficial. But what about agent based backups of SQL server, Files, Exchange etc. Does it offer any benefit when used to send such backup data to offsite ?

hi, I restored a vm in other location than the original and I found the configuration files of the vm duplicated : one created at the restore start and one to the end of the it. It’s correct? why the 1° is not deleted? it's safe to delete the first given that the second (and last) is the configuration file vm used?thank you.

I have a few questions concerning tape backups and marking an expired tape as free.  I have marked 2 months of tapes free, but the Postgres SQL database hasn’t reduced in size.  What other cleanup do I need to do on the Postgres side?VBR ver 12.2What happens when you mark a tape as free What happens in the postgres database Does Veeam remove all indexing data related to the backups when a tape is marked as free ? Hi Guys,I’m rolling Veeam SQL plugin out across lots of different SQL servers in my org. Is there a protection group equivalent ? If not, how does Veeam help me to keep on top of where they are installed, and more importantly auto upgrade them when Veeam is upgraded ? Hi all im new to veeam and i have been testing the software. to put it simply, i have the following testing envrionemnet and i want to achieve the following test env1 x Veeam backup server1 x Hyper-V cluster (2 Hyper-V host)1 x VM runnin on the Hyper-V Cluster1 x iSCSI Volume for hyper-v that is running on NetApp Storage (ONTAP) what i want to achieve is to integrate netapp to veeam so that it can leverage ONTAPs snapshot technology to backup the hyper-v vm in a faster manner. i have following numerous diffrent sources on the internet to integrate netapp to veeam but the volume just doesnt appear, only if i include the option for VMware, it shows the volumes on the storage infrastructure section. if there is any official document regarding veeam x netapp x hyper-v integration, it would be more than appreicated if anyone can point me to the right source. if anyone has achieved what im tr

I am new to Veeam, so I apologise if this is a stupid question.I have a number of remote sites that each have a Proxmox server. Each of these servers is connected to my home using a TailScale network. There is a Linux VM acting as a subnet router.I am trying to use the latest version 12.3 of Veeam to backup the VM’s on the remote sites to a small NAS installed in each site. Basically, I want to manage the backups from a central location, but the backups actually take place at the remote sites.I can register the remote Proxmox servers centrally, but when I run the test on the worker created at each site, it looks like it will run OK; it starts the worker, connects to it, but then always fails on the connect to core services, and occasionally fails on failed to obtain IP address.As a test, I have disabled the firewall on the central backup server and the worker VM. We have installed Veeam in a Standalone Hyper V host, and we can perform backups of all virtual machines in this Hyper V host. All the VMs are in drive D of the Hyper-V host.  Is there a way that I can do a backup of the C Drive of the Hyper V host so that we can restore the server and then restore the Virtual machines in case the Hyper-V Host fails? Do I need to install a Windows agent in the Hyper V host?  What is the best approach?
