I have been using the free version of the Agent to back up a Windows 11 PC for some time. At some point recently - unfortunately I’m not sure exactly when - it stopped working with the following being displayed:I have triedupdating to the latest version of the agent Checking both the source and destination disks for errors reformatting the destination disk and re-registering it.Nothing seems to work and there is nothing in the way of an error log to indicate where the problem lies. Any ideas?

Hi all, I am trying to get support with Veeam but they are giving me the run around (we have a valid license but apparently its not assigned correctly and our account manager is away until the 18th) so I thought id ask here. But I am a bit disappointed Veeam has always been great with support and regardless always tried to help :( Veeam ticket is Case # 07501120 I am getting the following error Error: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond This Repo has been working for over a month, no blip or issues. However, just today it started having an issue. The only thing that has changed is I am using a proxy now rather than the backup server direct. I rebooted the immutable repo and Veeam was happy again. However, logged on this afternoon and it says disconnected again. Now I have reinstalled the components onto it again, hopefully it stays - has a

Hi everyone! For those of you using storage servers with local direct attached storage, I would love to know which RAID level you are using? It would be good to learn more about your setup, such as:Are you using HDD or SSD? How many disks do you use? One big RAID or multiples? Finally, why did you choose this RAID level?
Recon Scanner for Veeam Data Platform. This innovative tool is designed to proactively identify and mitigate cyber threats before they can cause damage. Developed by Coveware by Veeam, the Recon Scanner leverages extensive experience from handling thousands of ransomware incidents to provide advanced threat assessment capabilities. The Recon Scanner continuously scans environments to detect suspicious activities and adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs). This proactive approach allows organizations to take preventive actions and mitigate risks in real-time, enhancing their overall data resilience. The link below to the Veeam blog highlights the importance of proactive threat assessment in today's digital landscape, where cyberattacks are increasingly common and sophisticated. Good morning,I am using Veeam B&R CE, and use to backup my Proxmox VMs.My Homeassistant VM after a restore is able to start, but it goes directly in restore mode so it in unaccessible.Someone else experience the problem? Thanks a lot,A.
Yesterday, Veeam released the Community Preview of the Hardened Repository ISO (Build 0.1.15).The ISO respectively the project was presented at the Veeam ON in Fort Lauderdale this year. I have been eagerly awaiting this installation ISO since the information was published. What is this Managed Hardened Repository ISO by Veeam? The Managed Hardened Repository ISO is an installation ISO to correctly install a Veeam Hardened Repository with Veeam’s best practices and a full hardening.Inside the installer you have to specify some settings, but everything else is predefined, so that after the guide guided installation you have a DISA STIG hardened repository. The whole thing without any further necessary adjustments. Benefits of the ISOThe biggest benefit of the ISO is that you don’t have to make any further customizations or run any scripts (the system is already hardened through the customized installer). There is no root user. Due to the use of Rocky Linux as the base, you have 10 years
Hi everyone, I'm using Veeam for quite a while now but recently we added some NetApp ONTAP devices to the storage infrastructure. And for each also a NAS Filer object under unstructured data. I can select a NAS Filer and create a file backup job easily. But I want to automate this if possible.I can use Get-NetAppHost to get the ONTAP device and then use Get-VBRUnstructuredServer combined with Get-VBRNASServerPath but I can't link it all together… Also, when I look at an already configured job I cannot reverse engineer this to usable PS code. Can someone point me in the right direction to create a file backup job of a share on a NAS filer with PowerShell?

Dear All,Have a nice day. I found a different on veeam backup version on my test environment 11 vs 12.2 on file save name. In the early version it’s saved as a job name single file but now it’s saved as multiple .vm name file, no jobs name. One job is created and this job has 10 VM, there will be 10 backup files showing. It's looking odds lot of files.I want to show it as the previous one in a single file. Is it possible? pls check the image. Thanks,Biplob

I am working on a Veeam DR doc. I would like to be able to bring up the DR environment in a controlled manner to the point of only enabling the jobs I want to enable. I know it can be easily done by simply right clicking and disabling the jobs or by PowerShell script. My concern is jobs kicking off as soon as the DR instance is up and not being able to disable them before they start failing. Because before anything we need to validate the environment, proxies, repositories, etc. Simply failing over the prod system will mean ALL the services and processes will start when the system boots. The feedback I received from support is to stop the Veeam Backup Service. However, from what I understand I do not have the ability to disable jobs while the Veeam Backup Service is offline. Is there a scheduler service that can be stopped? Ideally, at least for the DR test, we would like to keep jobs from running yet be able to restore systems. While an actual failover is something that should occur
The malware detection consistently flags the same files with known malware extensions as suspicious. Despite marking the servers clean multiple times, the detections persist. Is this behavior intended or possibly a bug?
I have a device that has Veeam for Windows installed. I can’t upgrade it as it fails and if I try to uninstall it from control panel it fails saying it can’t find the MSI. Is there an uninstall tool for Veeam?
Hello -To start with a short breakdown of our environment:We have three separate Veeam “instances” across our org. It works like this: Branch AVMWare instance with 8-10 servers both Windows and LinuxWindows server running Veeam B&RWindows server serving as proxyWindows server serving as repositoryRepo contains backups of the machines here Branch BVMWare instance with 15-20 servers both Windows and LinuxWindows server running Veeam B&R(3) Linux server serving as proxy(1) Linux server serving as repositoryRepo contains backups of the machines here Branch CVMWare instance with 4-6 servers both Windows and LinuxWindows server running Veeam B&RWindows server serving as proxy for Branch ALinux server serving as proxy for Branch BWindows server serving as repositoryRepo contains backup copies and replicas of VMs from Branch A and B On to the problem. Our third-party vulnerability scan started to flag all our proxies and repositories and Branch A and B as needing Linux OS updates
VMware is a leader in virtualization, but knowing about alternative costs can help organizations optimize their IT strategies while maintaining essential capabilities. This post takes a deep dive into the financial aspects of VMware and its competitors, offering insights that can help you make informed decisions about your virtualization investments. Whether you're assessing VMware's pricing or looking for more budget-friendly options, understanding the total cost of ownership (TCO) and potential return on investment (ROI) will be key in shaping your strategy. This is a bit of a different tone here in the Veeam Community, but I’m collecting a bunch of resources that have been shared, as well as some of the latest information from VMware. Overview of Virtualization Costs Virtualization technologies bring versatility and efficiency but also come with various associated costs that include:Licensing Fees: These are the upfront costs for acquiring the virtualization software, potentially in
Hi community, Case number: 07501750After upgrading to Veeam BR 12.2.0.334 (I was on v11 before) my Surebackup Job stopped working with error:“Error: Value cannot be null. Parameter name: destination”I’m using “Advanced single-host” with two production networks and I have “Application Group” with single VM.I’ve tried recreating Virtual Lab, Application Group but the error still persists, it looks like it has problems with adding route? Value cannot be null.Parameter name: destination (System.ArgumentNullException)at Veeam.Backup.Common.CRouteUtilityItem..ctor(String destination, String netmask, String gateway) But routes are appearing when I put “route print” on windows cmd.Is this a bug or am I missing something in V12?
Congratulations @MatzeB , you are Blog of the Month September 2024 winner! 🐈🏆🎉Best, Madi
Hi all,I’m looking at the following guide I was recommended on one of my previous posts (great guide btw).Does anyone know the logic behind the assignment of the masquerade IP? I can’t seem to understand where Veeam pulls this from nor find any explanation as to the logic behind it.Many thanks in advance.
I'm trying to set up backup job retries in Veeam Backup & Replication to automatically retry failed jobs a specific number of times. Could anyone guide me on how to configure this and suggest best practices for retry intervals?
Backup job is set to 2 restore point and it has backup job (.vib) file created everyday. There is shortage of space and need to reduce backup jobs. If I choose the restore point it is picking up restore point for a month. Is there is a way to reduce the number of days of backup?
INTRODUCTION As you know, the latest version of Veeam Backup & Replication, that is 12.1.2.172, was released last May 21.Among the various new features and security patches, the aspect I would like to elaborate on is this:Security & Compliance AnalyzerA new backup infrastructure check was added to ensure that the PostgreSQL instance hosting the configuration database has been configured with the recommended settings. These settings can be applied with the Set-VBRPSQLDatabaseServerLimits cmdlet. This new check just verifies that the recommended settings for PosgreSQL are actually applied to our backup server. But what does it mean in detail? INFRASTRUCTURE CHECK DETAILSWe know that since version 12 of VBR, the database that is installed by default is PostgreSQL and no longer the Microsoft SQL Express. So when installing the product, if you choose to keep the default DB and have it installed during the wizard, Veeam will install PostgreSQL on the same VBR server.During this operatio
