I was running the Community Edition ver. 8.2.0.2202 on my Windows Server 2025 when a notice appeared to install the latest update for Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 8.3. (Community Edition)I did that upgrade but it jacked up my system. I got an "Installation Failure" with no useful information in the log. After much searching, I found this https://forums.veeam.com/veeam-backup-for-microsoft-365-f47/unable-to-install-vbo365-on-a-fresh-windows-11-system-t101611.htmlI used some of the suggestions there and I finally got 8.3.0.2201 installed. But now I get the "No connection could be made b/c the target machine refused it." I briefly saw something about a installation issue with multi-homed servers, but I cannot find that page again.
Happy Wednesday, Community! Some good news came from the Veeam KB Support team yesterday. There will now be the ability to change log location for all of the Veeam Software Appliances → VSA, VIA, VHR. I know there have been some posts on here for those early in testing out VDP v13 where space has become an issue on the VSA. This change allows VDP users to modify the log location to a more robust storage location on the the Appliances to hopefully mitigate encountered space issues. But keep in mind...if you do indeed modify the log location on your Appliances, there is a caveat as noted at the top of the KB -“Automated log collection tools built into both the Veeam Backup & Replication Web UI of the Veeam Software Appliance and the "Create support bundle" function within the Host Management Console collect logs only from the default log location, /var/log/VeeamBackup/ . As such, Diagnostic logging stored in a different folder, as documented in this KB, will not be collected automatica
Dear Veeam team,I am trying to uninstall VBR 13 but get stuck the issue below. I have checked both services: Veeam Backup Update Service and Veeam Backup Service. There is no Veeam Backup Service anymore. Please advise me for this case
Last Friday was officially rolled out Veeam One training in Veeam University Pro.If you are interested in VMCE+ certification, this is the right way how to achieve it. Are still not decided? I am starting it right now and let you know about the training!
I’m unable to connect VSPC to Cloud Connect. When I try to add the Cloud Connect server from Configuration → Catalog → Veeam Cloud Connect, it fails with “Failed to connect to the deployment service.” I’ve already tried disabling Windows Firewall and antivirus, but the issue persists. I can install the agent manually on the Cloud Connect server without any errors; however, after installation, the server only appears under Discovery in VSPC and does not show up under Catalog → Cloud Connect → Veeam Cloud Connect Integration. Both servers are on the same subnet with no firewall in between.
Backup for vmsrv0 on hyper v host1 worked always before, but for hyper v host1 i forgot that i turned off vmsrv0 vm LOL, so veeam was backing up a turned off vm. I went into host1 and switched from vmsrv0 to vmsrv1 running the same/replica (OS-Suse Linux Enterprise 12), did not continue backup chain, i just created a new backup to drive. Now i get vmsrv1 Processing vmsrv1 Error: Error: The requested operation could not be completed due to a file system limitation Asynchronous request operation has failed. ProxyPool Swapper for Veeam Backup for M365If you regularly onboard new tenants in Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365, chances are this scenario sounds very familiar.A repository gets assigned to a proxy pool, and at some point you want to move it—quickly and without hassle. A common approach is to use a dedicated onboarding proxy pool for the initial full backups of new tenants, and a separate, permanently assigned pool for ongoing operations. Once those initial backups are complete, only incremental, day-to-day changes remain. These smaller, predictable workloads can then be handled by a proxy pool that’s specifically designed and sized for daily processing. From an architectural perspective, this makes perfect sense. From an operational perspective… it can get a bit tedious.Another use case I frequently run into is the need to quickly access logs for a specific job or repository. To do this, I assign the repository to a local Windows proxy, which gives me easy access to the proxy logs.
The new HPE StoreOnce 7700 and 5720 Gen5 are now officially a Veeam Ready Repository certified as Primary Target Repository, passing all compatibility/functional tests, as well as extensive performance tests for both backup and restore operations with Veeam Backup & Replication 13.Part of the qualification test is random IOPS on a backup target to simulate Secure Restore (a virus-scanning process) executed within the Veeam Instant VM Recovery context.Certification Test Settings:Caching used: Yes Read/write caching: StoreOnce uses explicit application prefetch/caching/buffering in RAM. Also leverages Linux page cache (filesystem read/write caching), and the RAID cards have their own battery-backed read/write cache. Multipathing/link aggregation used: No (but supported in StoreOnce systems). Array deduplication used in testing: Yes Array compression used in testing: Yes HPE StoreOnce 7700The all-flash HPE StoreOnce 7700 is engineered to deliver high-performance backup and recovery
Now we can create the actual backup job. Let’s go back to Home–>Jobs and add a CDP PolicyAdd the computer we created in the protection group.Next we choose our Datastore, Host, and Resource Pool. Under Policy settings we can choose our replica suffix. Note this has to be unique, I had the job fail during testing because it already existed. Finally, we can set our RPOs and retention. After I deployed the policy the first time I was very excited, only to see error messages coming in that after the initial sync the io driver on the hosts failed. Lesson learned, you must reboot the host after deploying the driver! The next run was successful! Looks great. What is the amazing part, let’s say that server died, and we have to recover from Veeam, or restore files from it. We can go to replica and failover to a point in time. You can scroll through the timeline or use the latest point of time. This is pretty sweet in my book! This concludes this post. We now have CDP running and can restore any w
I was surprised when I started looking at Scale to discover that they have been around since 2012, announcing their HC3 appliance powered by HyperCore. Then in 2019 8.2 released with major updates and security mitigations, and the key piece for what I think their use case fits was announced in 2022 Scale Fleet Manager. More on that in a bit. The Scale HyperCore has self-healing capabilities and is very simple. The simple interface is easy to use and manage and would be a small learning curve for any VMware administrator. Their Fleet Manager web-based portal allows customers and MSPs to manage, deploy, and monitor distributed infrastructure. This makes it easy to manage edge computing or small ROBO locations.Veeam support for Scale was just released in 2025 with version 12.3.2 to include backup and restore of Scale VMs into Scale, or from other platforms into Scale, and recovery of Scale into other Veeam supported platforms. Based on the Fleet Manager I think the use case for Scale is t
Greetings, friends! I want to share with you the new Grafana Dashboard for Veeam Backup & Replication, no Enterprise Manager is needed, and it uses 100% VBR API.Small note: For those familiar with the data protection scene, you might recall that we’ve already got a Grafana Dashboard dedicated to the Veeam Enterprise Manager API since 2020. Grafana Dashboard for Veeam Backup & Replication API When you finish this article, if you follow all the steps, you should have something similar to this. It might be different according to your environment, number of days you select, protected workloads, jobs, etc.Dashboard – SummaryJob Historical Information – The very first graph. The most important one in my opinion. Grouped by 24 hours, get to know the status of your policies per day, on a range in time. Job Historical Information Table – Very similar to the previous panel, but this time with more details about job name, status, date, etc. Job Historical Information Duration – Very simil
The general availability (GA) of Red Hat OpenShift 4.18, 4.19, and 4.20 on VMware Cloud Foundation 9 and VMware vSphere Foundation 9 represents more than just expanded platform support. It marks a natural evolution for organizations modernizing their VMware-based infrastructure while continuing to run Kubernetes at enterprise scale. 🔄With the introduction of VCF9, Broadcom delivers a more integrated and standardized VMware platform. Red Hat aligns with this architecture by offering certified OpenShift deployments that preserve the operational model customers already trust. Organizations running OpenShift on vSphere 8 or VCF 5 can therefore move to VCF9 without rethinking how clusters are deployed or operated. ✅From a networking standpoint, OpenShift on VCF9 follows a clear and validated design. VMware NSX provides the infrastructure networking layer, while OVN-Kubernetes delivers the OpenShift-native overlay network. For customers leveraging NSX Container Network Interface (CNI) integ

I am using /api/query?type=’BackupJobSession’ to retrieve all backup job sessions. Does anybody know if this query will retrieve sessions for ‘Backup to Tape’ jobs as well? I don’t have the ability to setup such jobs in my lab and I can not test it. Alternatively is there a different query to retrieve sessions for such jobs?
Hi Everyone,@JonahMay and I sat down (remotely 😀) and I asked him all those burning questions about AI that we are all asking. Jonah has been doing a lot with AI so has some create stories to tell. He also offers his predictions on what we as data protection experts need to be thinking about. So Jonah will I be digging ditches in a few years? Hello. As part of our Physical Infrastructure in VB&R12, we have a Physical Windows Server that has storage attached by fibre channel. The Veeam agent is installed on this server and the service uses the Local System account. I am attempting a "Managed by agent" backup of this server, but when this runs, I get the error message "Volume G:\ does not exist" for files from the FC-attached storage. Outside of Veeam, I checked that the server's local SYSTEM account has access to G: and it could read the files there just fine. Why can't the backup job see that volume? Thank you.
After Part q, 2 and 3, lets finish with creating the VPN account and setup the client. Now, let's create a VPN user, to be able to set it up into our phone / laptop, and start using our WireGuard VPN.Connect to your new deployed server via sshNow, lets execute the command: pivpn addlets create the accounti didnt add any ip, just hit enter, and continue, and give it a namevpn user created, now, lets see the QR code for setupexecute the command pippin -qr, and select the the user config you want to configureopen you wireguard client app and follow the screenshotsDone!now, you have your VPN fully configure.anua time you want to connect, simply open the app and switch the VPN to on (green)all traffic will be back and forth the VPN.cheers.
Since this step is similar to the below, I will not be dropping the entire content here. Kindly take a look at the following guide for more information “Building VIHR: Ransomware-Proof Repository with Veeam JeOS”.The article walks through the steps on how to deploy a Veeam Infrastructure Hardened Repository (VIHR) using the new Veeam JeOS (Just Enough OS). It is aimed at improving ransomware resilience for backup infrastructure. It highlights that modern threats increasingly target both production workloads and backup storage, making immutability essential. This blog post covers practical steps for building a lab environment in Proxmox VE or XCP-ng as well and installing the JeOS-based Veeam Hardened Repository ISO, and configuring the repository server with hostname, static networking, and accounts. After installation, the guide shows how to access the Host Management UI, create user roles and enable MFA, and then proceed to add the VIHR to Veeam Backup & Replication. Going forward
When I try to connect on Veeam B&R Console after upgrade to version 13 it returns following message“Failed to connect to the backup server: Access to the registry key ‘HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Veeam\Veeam Backup abd Replication\Plugins\13.0.0\Console’ is denied”I checked the registry and there is no values under 13.0.0\Console redistrib and 13.0.0\Platform Service, while under 12.0.0 I can see values like AWS, Azure, etc.Could plugins installation fail?Veeam B&R seems onlne, I can see backup job logs under 13 version. When I run the .iso (upgrade file VeeamBackupReplication_13.0.1.1071_20251217) it says Veeam is already updated and does not permit me do anything.
Nutanix announced Acropolis in June 2015 that is based on Linux KVM. Along with that, they added Prism to simplify management of their hyperconverged infrastructure and VMs. For a long time Nutanix was only built as hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI). This makes it hard to justify replacing VMware if you just made a capital expense purchase in servers or storage. However, as of December 2025, Dell PowerFlex and Pure Storage have been added as supported storage integration, this was a great move to open those that have made a recent storage investment to be able to consider Nutanix for workloads. They also have some server alliance partnerships to run their hypervisor on other supported compute platforms. Nutanix is a publicly traded company with over 7,000 employees globally. From a use case perspective, I feel it fits for small remote offices and large enterprise or IaaS hosting environments. Nutanix also has multi-tenant isolation capabilities built in including self-service VM, App,
Hi all,Having major issues with the RAID controller on one of our production computer’s motherboards. I’m trying to test a non-RAID setup to see if that fixes all the crashes we’re experiencing. Are there any special considerations when restoring a backup that was set up on a RAID array to a newly setup non-RAID hard drive? Appreciate any help, thanks!
In this guide, we will discuss the steps “Upgrade legacy VHR to Veeam Infrastructure Hardened Repository”. According to Rick’s naming convention of VHR generation one (1). This blog post aims to demonstrate the “steps to upgrade legacy VHR to Veeam Infrastructure Hardened Repository“.Upgrade Veeam Hardened Repository v2 to VIHRTo do this, please download the VIA ISO from here. Below is the remote console of my VHR.Upon landing on the page, please scroll down. For a detailed blogpost, see “how to Upgrade legacy VHR to Veeam Infrastructure Hardened Repository”.Under the Additional Downloads, click on the download button as shown below.Boot Veeam Hardened RepositoryWhen the ISO boots up, as shown on the splash screen above. Yes, this task was no longer straightforward, as the usual workflow for deleting or removing backup jobs tied to the repository, and for deleting the repositoy itself when it is no longer needed before removing the managed server. For some of the steps not discussed n this guide, please see, “Unable to Remove Orphaned VHR Repository v2 from VBR v13”.What happens when you no longer have the VHR v2 Server due to the reinstallation of VIHR? Note: The root issue here is that the transport service continues to run under the context of the veeamsvc. This means that the account must remain present on the Linux server. Please, see how to deploy and integrate VHR with VBR. Veeam only requires the credentials during the initial deployment of the transport service. This is why single-use credentials are used. But as we see, due to updates and upgrades. We have to regenerate the single-use credential as discussed here “Veeam Host Components: Unable to reinstall Deploy Service SSH“. This method was
hi, im using VBR 12.3 deploy on GCE on GCP, I have succesfully backup and storing on GCS and i want to restore into GCE, and finnally failed, i consider VBR using Cloud Build to atomate restoring. the same log from VBR log and Cloud Build History. I think GCP not using GC, now using Artifact Registry, and i checked the image import link, its totally empty. any suggest in this case? the same case i using VBR 13.
