Is there any ready tool to calculate how many proxy do I need in my backup environment?

Not to be a negative nelly, but don’t we already have github.com/veeamhub as a repository that is purpose built for this type of content, managed by people who know code? Can we not push community script additions there rather than turning them into effectively forum posts?

Hello Community,Pretty much every week I have the same question, or comment, regarding how to create a Data Protection system that scales, it is flexible in terms of adding workloads, and dynamic so every business owner can add workloads without any difficulty.If we look at the diagram of what I just described, it could look like this, where a few Proxies are protecting an specific SLA, another three are protecting another a bit more aggressive SLA, and finally a physical Proxy is protecting the tier1 workloads using storage snapshots and SAN Backup Mode.We will make use of the flexibility and integration with VMware vSphere Tags, so we will need to create all of them under VMware, under one, or more categories, like this:On Veeam Backup & Replication they will look like this, so create a job with a name, then we add the desired tag:Selecting the Proxies we want, with the retention we want as well:And the schedule of course:Until you have something similar to this:Now, back to VMwa

Just though about 2 feature request, I would forward to my local Veeam account manager. Would be interested in your opinions. Or maybe there is already a practicable workaround.Change transport mode per backup/replication jobs This would make it easier to use a more suitable mode for selected VMs. For example it can result in better duration time when a lot of small VMs are backed up by NBD. Pre-View of selected VMs When selecting Folder/Tags/[new in v11]Tag Combination as backup source, it would be very useful to see all VMs that would be included at the press of a button.What do you think?

Recently I had problems by upgrading Veeam from 9.5U4 to v10. Upgrade process failed after a while. We found out, directory C:\Program Files\Veeam\Backup and Replication\Backup lost its permissions. We had no change any more to enter this directory. Short answer: Antivirus software causes the problem. After disabling real-time scan, upgrade run without further issues. Antivirus software was configured according Veeam best practices.

I’d like to spread the word about this new program among my team and my larger network.     I used to use Veeam since late 2014, I always try to find some ways to enhance my usage. Here are some features I thought might be interested if added in the future releases:1- SureBackup: SureBackup is one of the features made me choose Veeam in the first place. But while configuring it, I found that I need to choose specific VM to work on specific host. I thought that it will be good if SureBackup went cluster-aware to choose VM and host randomly every time it runs.2- Proxies:Once I started to backup VMs located on vSAN storage, I was told to use proxy server to work as a virtual appliance in order to complete a successful backup job without "doubling" the size. However, I needed to create a proxy on each and every host on my cluster. Now Veeam supports linux proxies but the problem with me that the number of proxies on my cluster as my environment expands.Is there any way in the future to use a single or couple of proxies to work with all cluster? 

This is going to be a quick post on how to backup a single OneDrive folder with Veeam Backup for Office 365.One of my customers developed an internal policy regarding the usage of OneDrive for Business.The policy is, that each user has a specific “Work” folder (root folder) which gets backed up with Veeam Backup for Office 365. All other folders are not backed up and the users do know that. So in this scenario we needed a OneDrive backup job, which backs up the whole organization with the OneDrive object and only includes that work folder.By the way, you are also able to exclude specific OneDrive folders by using the “-ExcludedOneDriveFolders” variable.However, in my case here it makes more sense to only include that specific folder.The scenarioI recreated that scenario with my own Office 365 Tenant, whereby I selected to only backup my webhosting folder. Is there any future vision to automate the remediation workflow right from VeeamOne?

 Throughout these years, I have been to many talks and events of Veeam, I have given many VMCE courses, and a lot has happened to me on this side in South America, the customers did not use Surebackup or Surereplica, they have told me that they did not know that they could use it, among other answers. And I think it is one of the most important features that Veeam has . Has it happened to you? I would like to read them  … 

I just read @Gostev ‘s R&D Forums Digest. He talks about LTO9 support in Veeam and new tape-features in v11 like tape cloning.So I thought it could be interesting to read about the changed/adjusted LTO roadmap:https://blocksandfiles.com/2020/09/10/lto-changes-tape-roadmap-strategy-cuts-capacity-to-build-air-gapped-ransomware-defence-storage/For short: LTO does not provide double-sizing its capacity from generation to generation any more. Also speed does not scale that much from now on.
