I'm trying to recover files in my backup using console -> Restore guest files -> Microsoft Windows...and it is giving the following message:- Connection Problems: No connections can be made because the target machine has actively refused them.and then another window opens with the following error:- Mount wasn't foundUntil last month it was working normally. What can it be?

Interesting Scenario here.  I have a VERY isolated environment separate from my production environment.  The SAN is the only thing that shared between environments. No networking at all. Is there any license wizards in here who could tell me if this is supported, or if the following would be against the Veeam license rules?  In this isolated environment we don’t have Veeam.  We are in the process migrating all of those servers to our production environment , but I’d like to archive one to tape before hand to free up 50TBIf I were to do a storage snapshot of the VM’s volume from within Veeam (Same SAN) , I could then run an instant recovery to our production environment. While its running from the Storage Snapshot in our production environment, I’d like to do a VeeamZip, then export it to tape from the VeeamZip. It should be no different than exporting to OVF and importing it into production from vCenter which wouldn’t be against any license rules and it does save me moving 50TB 2 times

Cut all the costs that you can find. The support contract for the backup server was due for renewal, this server was already 5 years old and with their financial forecast, a replacement was not on the table. We tried to be price sensitive and offered third party Next Business Day support, was as cheap as we could get. Customer asked if there was anything cheaper, we told them there wasn’t. On my esxi 7.0 cluster I’ve added a couple of VMs for testing. Having had B&R configured to backup entire hosts (with some VM exceptions) it obviously backed up these test VMs. I did not notice this change, since I’ve configured Veeam to not email me on successful backups.Over the next days I removed these VMs. By doing so, Veeam completed to produce successful backups but today by accident I’ve noticed that it adds a single line message of the form “XXXX is no longer processed by this job. Make sure this change is intentional.”Two questions:These last jobs were still successful. Therefore I’ve received no e-mail for them (even if I did, I’d tend to overlook content for jobs that ran without hitches). Would it be better to have this type of a job end with a warning exit code, instead of a success one? How can I avoid having this message in the next backups? Should I edit the job and, if so, edit it how exactly?

I have a 9.5 B&R isntallation out of support. (but it was working untill now)I have installed the software in a new windows server  virtual machine with the same installer of the first time.Then I try to install the licence with the .lic file we received when it was bought.Then, Veeam answers : invalid licenseHow can it be solved ?

I’m testing restore process from azure blob storage to azure vm. Here is my current configuration: VBR11 installed from market place : Standard_F4s_v2Azure proxy VM :Standard_F4s_v2Azure blob storage where backup of vm sits: PremiumI restore vm to another Standard_F4s_v2 and maximum speed what I get is… 150MB/s Am I missing some configuration or is it an azure limitation?

Microsoft has announced, that they are disabling basic auth on October 1st, 2022 for all tenants. It doesn‘t matter if you use it now or not. Have a new Veeam server for a client. Got everything setup and ready to go, but ended up needing to change the hostname for the server itself. No worries. I’ve done that many a time. Business as usual...except afterward, the Veeam Backup Service refused to start not matter what I did. Rebooted the server, tried manually starting it, ran Windows update, change to Auto Start without delay. Nothing worked. My gut was telling me the hostname change was the cause of this, but I just wasn’t sure.Then I found this magical article by our very own, MicoolPaul, and it was exactly what I needed. The hostname change was indeed the issue. Veeam was trying to connect to a SQL database using a hostname that no longer existed...because we changed it! I manually changed the hostname prefix for the SQL DB using the Veeam Configuration Data Connection Settings tool, and this seems to have done the trick! Thank you so much @MicoolPaul! You are wonderful!

Bit OT with regard to Veeam itself. I was wondering how you handle lots and lots of passwords and other sensitive information. I’m primarily interested in whether you use/consider safe for use low-cost and/or “small” solutions like password keepers (bitwarden seems nice enough). Assume a single user in an organization that has to protect data like this.On one hand these apps look nice. But on the other, security-wise they are not PGP replacements at all, trading ease of use for security.

I wanted to ask the community on here to get a discussion going about whether using VMs for Veeam is good, bad or indifferent?  It is based on a question from the forum here - VM as repo - Veeam R&D ForumsI added my thoughts to this post as I disagree with some of the comments about having to use physical servers as the BP site mentions both physical and virtual.  I also work at an MSP and everything we build is virtual for Veeam other than a few tape servers we have which are physical boxes since they perform better this way with direct connect to the FC fabric.Anyway just wanted to see the communities opinions here and not to put one or the other down just thoughts and what everyone is doing now.And go…….  🤣
