Hello, I’m learning for the VMCE Exam. There’s a question with this correct answer: Question: An infrastructure with 50 VMs has a power outage. After the VMware cluster hast booted up again, three large VMs seem to be stuck in a boot loop. Assuming only the OS is installed on the VM OS disk, which method would require the least amount of backup data transferred to allow the VMs to boot? Correct answer: Perform a Virtual Disk Restore with the quick rollback feature disabled. Why it’s not with the quick rollback feature enabled?

Powershell - OneDrive for Business File Scanner

Hello Community! It's been two years since I published a script for a OneDrive for Business file check in this community. And even back then I had the code ready that also checks recovered files for possible malware. Of course, Microsoft 365 also has certain mechanisms, which are documented here. Trust is good, control is better I have now taken up my idea again and packed it into a new script. The script restores files from the lastest OneDrive for Business restore point and scans them for threats using Windows Defender. A single file can also be restored and scanned. There is a "beautiful" listing when the scan has detected something. Please read the README document on my GitHub for more details on how to use the script. ⛔Important!⛔ Make sure that there is sufficient disk space in the directory where the files are to be restored. Repository Rescan Failing

Hi, I have recently inherited a site using Veeam Backup & Replication V12 One of the components of a Backup Copy Job is failing with the following error Cannot proceed with the job: existing backup meta file 'XXX-XXX-DC01_764B4.vbm' on repository 'XXX-XXX-BK02 - VMs' is not synchronized with the DB. To resolve this, run repository rescan When I run the “repository rescan” I get the warning below Failed to import backup path /|drs-vms|backups|XXX-XXX-BK02 VM Copy|Cluster Windows VM Dailys|AIR-PIC-DC01_764B4.vbm Details: Root element is missing.387164 The repository is offsite and it is a Ubuntu System Any advice would be appreciated Thank You

How to upgrade dev kernel on Linux

Unable to see DB backups from Enterprise Manager or VBR when using Veeam's SQL plugin for SSMS. Not sure if this is by design to allow DBA full control of their backup and restore processes or I’m just missing something here. Thanks again for all your inputs.

Veeam 100 Berlin experience: revisiting history

Hi! I would like to share an additional aspect that I was able to experience during the Veeam 100 Summit in Berlin. In addition to Summit's fantastic agenda, already brilliantly described in posts by colleagues in the community (congrats, ​@alrasheed) and by ​@NikolaPejkova ​, this contact with history was a very constructive and rewarding experience for me! I had the rare opportunity to visit symbols that marked my youth and have always fascinated me. One of the things that impacted me the most during my adolescence was the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, which I watched on TV. This event celebrated its 35th anniversary six days ago (!). 👏🏻👏🏻 The fall represented a symbolic victory for freedom and determination for the entire world, still caught in the Cold War. It is worth visiting the Berlin Wall Memorial, the Wall Museum near Checkpoint Charlie, and the DDR Museum. Error: All backup proxies are offline or outdated -- How to Fix this Error

Someone on the Community reported the error of this post - “All backup proxies are offline or outdated” here - https://community.veeam.com/topic/show?tid=6645&fid=66 I ran in to this issue in my HomeLab and opened a ticket with Veeam Support about it. I was able to figure out the issue myself and wanted to post the fix steps here so that if you run in to this issue you can take the steps needed to address it yourself. This error does not seem to report anything in the log files which was the first thing I checked. So, the steps to fix it are as follows - Remove the Proxy from the Veeam console using Delete. Remove the server from Managed Servers section - this will uninstall the components from the server. Log in to the Proxy server to ensure all components for Veeam are gone - if not remove them in the Control Panel Reboot the Proxy server Add the server back in to the Veeam Console as a Proxy server which will reinstall the components again. Validate your failed jobs by running them

Adding a server as vmware Proxy error: Transport service is unavailable

Hi everyone, I have 2 servers with VBR and I’m trying to connect one of those as a backup proxy of the other, so i can manage backups from a single backup server and disable the other one. adding the server as general purpose and CDP proxy works just fine but when I try to add it as vmware proxy it shows me an error message “Transport service is unavailable”. I checked, the service is online and correctly listens on the default port (matter of fact it works as general purpose and cdp proxy, as stated above). The server runs on the very esxi host I’m trying to backup, same hypervisor this server backups daily with no trouble. I updated and rebooted the server with no success. I cannot understand the problem. Can it be because they are slightly different versions? The server that has the problem is version 12.1.1.56 while the server I’m trying configure the proxy in has version 12.1.0.2131. Never encountered this, please help, I read some documentation and the system requirements are fin

Veeam Agent failing to back up disk

I have been using the free version of the Agent to back up a Windows 11 PC for some time. At some point recently - unfortunately I’m not sure exactly when - it stopped working with the following being displayed: I have tried updating to the latest version of the agent Checking both the source and destination disks for errors reformatting the destination disk and re-registering it. Nothing seems to work and there is nothing in the way of an error log to indicate where the problem lies. Any ideas?

Immutable Repo - host has failed to respond

Hi all, I am trying to get support with Veeam but they are giving me the run around (we have a valid license but apparently its not assigned correctly and our account manager is away until the 18th) so I thought id ask here. But I am a bit disappointed Veeam has always been great with support and regardless always tried to help :( Veeam ticket is Case # 07501120 I am getting the following error Error: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond This Repo has been working for over a month, no blip or issues. However, just today it started having an issue. The only thing that has changed is I am using a proxy now rather than the backup server direct. I rebooted the immutable repo and Veeam was happy again. However, logged on this afternoon and it says disconnected again. Now I have reinstalled the components onto it again, hopefully it stays - has any

Good morning, I am using Veeam B&R CE, and use to backup my Proxmox VMs. My Homeassistant VM after a restore is able to start, but it goes directly in restore mode so it in unaccessible. Someone else experience the problem? Thanks a lot, A.

Create NAS backup job with PowerShell

Hi everyone, I'm using Veeam for quite a while now but recently we added some NetApp ONTAP devices to the storage infrastructure. And for each also a NAS Filer object under unstructured data. I can select a NAS Filer and create a file backup job easily. But I want to automate this if possible. I can use Get-NetAppHost to get the ONTAP device and then use Get-VBRUnstructuredServer combined with Get-VBRNASServerPath but I can't link it all together… Also, when I look at an already configured job I cannot reverse engineer this to usable PS code. Can someone point me in the right direction to create a file backup job of a share on a NAS filer with PowerShell?
