How to get a copy of your M365 VDC back-up on-prem?

To me, the only way I can think of would be export to PST for the mailboxes to get it on-prem.  This is a backwards look at things but would work.  Other than that, unsure as I don’t use VDC much but there are others here that will have more input.

HI ​@GerhardGibbs the only option i found is to export data via the restore explorers to an onsite location. As far as i know there is no option to add another s3 bucket to do an backup-copy-job to another repository. 

But i might be wrong here even though i did not find any relating article regarding this option.

Hi. I’m one of the VDC SE’s for Veeam. This isn’t a supported flow. Sure you can export individual mailboxes but that isn’t an entire backup level export of everything from every point in time etc. Veeam has an exit strategy so if you left VDC you could still have your backups, this is a one time exit copy however and isn’t something you can do on a periodic basis however.

​@MicoolPaul I have been searching the Partner Portal and know I have seen the “keep your data if you want to exit” strategy - but cannot seem to find any official documentation about it? Do you maybe have any at hand or can point me where to get it please?

Specifically section 8 it contains details around this. This was recently updated to include the ability to request an assisted data export even mid-contract, which would be billable based on data extracted.
