I’ve been a long-time critic of Veeam’s lack of functionality and overall clunkiness compared to other software, mainly Acronis, but I am always looking for what situations any product might be best suited for, so I’m curious what everyone’s favorite things about Veeam are, especially if you migrated an environment to using Veeam from any other product, what product was it and what made Veeam the better choice?

Hi  I am looking for some guidance for the backup data export sizing with Kasten. Let’s say, my case has 10TB production data, daily backup with 30 restore points, 5% delta change daily. I assume the compression and deduplication will save up 50%. Does it mean that I need to have at least 10TBx30x50% =150TB for my backup repository ?I do see in a lab that the second backup is much smaller than the first backup. Is there any incremental backup / global deduplication in the backup data export behind the scene ?  Chris

Our current VM farm is backed to a local Linux Immutable Repo and then BCJ to another Linux Immutable Repo in DR site. Both site are L2 connected with metro cluster formed on storage level.VBR server is installed on VM farm. What if: the production site is down, my VBR server is rebooted on DR site; while my primary backup repo and production VM farm is gone. During this period, I will leverage of resources on DR site and backup is still required before failback to production. I have to stop all existing backup policy and create new backup policy because backup path is changed? The initial backup during that moment will be incremental or full? (wondering because all backup file are there, but there are no LUN level replication before)Will the map backup function can help?

We need to have the earliest restore points, how can I safely delete the old restore points so that we can retain the last x restore points? Where can I have the old restore points automatically deleted? For backup jobFor Replication job

Hi everyone,I have two Veeam proxy servers that max out their RAM (20GB) once or twice a week for about an hour. I’m trying to find out which jobs are running on the proxy at the time of the spike. I know the affected VM's name but need to identify the specific job running when memory usage is high.Proxy details:VMware VM With 20GB RAM (recently added 4GB, but still seeing spike)OS WindowsMax concurrent tasks: 16Is there a way to track this from the proxy server or within Veeam Backup & Replication? Any insights would be appreciated

I'm in the process of migrating our hosts and VMs from vCenter 7 to 8, maintaining the same EVC and cluster layout. During this migration, I understand there is a risk of breaking the backup chains due to potential new MOREF IDs. Is there a way to preserve the backup chains? Our jobs are mapped using vSphere Tags.I will be carrying out this migration without powering off any VMs or hosts, and I want to ensure the backup chains continue without issues. If I go to each job and remap or re-browse the VM objects by tags, will this preserve the backup chain and retention? If the backup chain isn't preserved and a new full backup is required, will the retention policy continue from where it left off?

We've experienced backup corruption due to an unforeseen circumstance. I'm familiar with the scheduled health check and its flexibility, and I perform daily checks. The backup is not file share one.As I understand it, the health check is a diagnostic tool, not a repair function. My question is: Do we have any repair capabilities to recover from corrupted backups and interruptions? Are there any repair utilities for addressing unique error messages?

Hello Veeam Community, there is a problem to connect to our SP Console. When i use the URL we configured with our Cloud-Gateways vcc.xxxx.de and i validate the Certificate from the SP i get the Error: Connection to Cloud Provider cannot be established.Has anyone some ideas to solve this Problem? Thanks for help!

Hello dear community. I hope you are all well and can support me if necessary.I want to add my Proxmox HOST with the new version 12.2.0.334 and always get the following error message, which gives me no information at all about what is wrong.Error message:An unknown Proxmox VE Error has occured - screenshot attachedDo I need to configure anything else on my Proxmox host so that I have the option of adding the HOST to VBR?I would be very grateful for your support!

I’ve registered for VeeamOn 2025 and paid, trying to sign up for sessions but cannot figure it out. I can get a list of sessions but don’t see an option to register. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

We observed our monthly back ups were deleted earlier than the 3 month retention set in the jobs . Short term retention is 35 restore pointsGFS is 3 months Repo is SOBR extents - Exagrid GFS Policy: Enabled, monthly backups kept for 3 months. Active full backup: Scheduled last monday of every month. Transform to synthetic full: Scheduled first sunday of every month. VSS settings: Application aware processing is enabled.  We need to understand why the retention policy is not working as expected. Could you please provide a checklist of items to investigate, and explain whether the current settings would result in this behavior?

I migrate Redhat VM from vmware to Hyper-v using VBR and the redhat can’t boot and stuck in dracut. Anyone know how to fix this?

Sorry for the simple question, that’s no doubt been asked and answered before…Today we have VCC for our off-site cloud backups, and the immutability is provided by the “Insider protection” which in short means we pay for the privilege but we do not need to worry about disk space consumption over and above our actual backups. For lower cost we’re considering object storage, probably Wasabi, and we’ll want immutability there also. The thing I need to be sure of, is the disk space required. I am not sure if the copy jobs would have a specific backup mode, but with incremental, if they’re immutable, you’re previously overwritten backups are kept for longer? Disk space could be double what you have before? Thanks in advance for any insight on real world disk space requirements. Today, 27TB approx. is our VCC repo and as I say, the immutable data is retained at a fixed additional cost so we don’t know the size of that.

We would like to upgrade the Veeam 12.3.1 but we could not find the Veeam one 12.3.1 Version .Could you please suggest us, If we upgrade VBR 12.3.1  then Veeam one will allow to monitor the jobs ?

I am trying to clean up my Veeam Backup environment. Since they launched the Malware detection many of my backup sets are marked as containing files that Veeam thinks are malware. Most file extensions are not and some are files that have been created from our internal Applications Development team. I am either deleting non-relevant files or adding the extension to the Trusted Objects list. One extension that Veeam marked as Malware is *.kill . It found 2 files on our file server with this extension. Confusingly, I have not been able to find these files when I search the file server.  Can anyone point me to an application or process that could locate these files?

I have a backup copy job for OneDrive that has been running for over 60 hrs. and I am attempting to stop the job.  I stopped it in the GUI however the job still shows running with a status of “Queued” and the details show “Operation pending”.  The job status has not changed for 30-60 minutes.   I have also attempted to stop the copy job with the Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 Powershell Toolkit but I am running into syntax errors.

Does the Veeam Media Creation tool depend on the host OS when creating the bootable ISO or does the Veeam Media Creation tool contain everything it needs?None of the ISO’s that are created on Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 24H2 PC’s can connect to the Veeam backup server to perform a Bare Metal Recovery but they can ping the server’s name and IP when using Tools → Command Prompt.I posted detailed info, with the errors, here:https://forums.veeam.com/veeam-agent-for-windows-f33/recovery-media-does-not-work-v6-3-t97990.htmlI’m wondering if the IoT edition of Windows (or maybe version 24H2 in general) doesn’t come with something, that other Windows editions/versions do come with, that’s required during the media creation process.Has anyone else ran into this issue or know how to troubleshoot to find out specifically why the connection to the B&R server is not being made? Below is an image which shows and odd build number of Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 24H2: Below is an image which s

Hello, Thanks, How can i use VBR to backup a VM on windows 11?https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/hyperv/system_requirements.html?ver=120

Hello, I am currently in a battle with VBV - Veeam Backup ValidatorAs has been my experience, the health check of an agent backup job is done by the machine running agent. That, for some reason, the VBR itself cannot perform this function; even though the agent is managed by the VBR and the VBR has full access to the backup repositories. As I run my veeam over tailscale, when my laptop is outside the home LAN, the health check takes many time longer than the backup job itself. So I am try to come up with a workaround. using VBV, to offload the health check to a machine inside the LAN.So far, very frustrating, I cannot seem to use /backup flag on a backup job that does not contain a VM.I did tried to set /vmname to the name of machine running agent, but never worked. Is that correct?"C:\Program Files\Veeam\Backup and Replication\Backup\Veeam.Backup.Validator.exe" /backup:abp_theen10_falconerPolicy selected, provide one vmname you want to check. So far, the workaround seems to be hardcoding t

I don't get it.I have backup and replication Enterprise.I backup my VMware servers to a local storage and then I want to backup copy them to Azure storage blob (Hot). All I can see in backup and replication is the option to connect to an exsisting backup in Azure. If I try to create a new storage with folders, Veeam cannot see the folder.I read somwhere that I must deplot an enterprise app in Azure to create this folder. Is this really true? Can someone please give me some direction?

I’ve encountered a couple of issues with B&R and I’d like to start from scratch. I’m contemplating renaming my old B&R server VM and creating a new VM with a freash OS and Veeam B&R install since my current B&R server has been updated many times and was switched from Microsoft SQL to PostgreSQL.Is there a way to export/import only the Credintails & Passwords? I want to manually add all of the other info into the B&R server because one of the issues I’m encountering seems to be database related.Issues:I replaced a physical workstation that uses Windows Agent. I reinstalled the old SSD into the new computer. I renamed the PC. Everything works, including Veeam Agent backups but I noticed that email alerts and Malware scan related errors still reference the old computer name even though the new pc name is displayed in the B&R control panel. Since enabling Veeam Threat Hunter, I get the following email alerts:   [Error] Malware analysis session has failed unex

Boa tarde, tudo bem?
