Problem with Hyper-V restore: Failed to restore vm. Name: [Server] ChannelError: ConnectionReset (Veeam.Backup.Common.CAppException)
Hello!I am trying to play with restoring one Hyper-V VM onto another Hyper-V server just to know what to expect in the future. So I created the Backup job which backed up this VM to the Backup repository which in turn resides in the shared folder of the second Hyper-V physical machine, i.e. is the part of the second server. After back up is done (very fast!) I started Restore job of the Entire VM, and it fails. I tried all possible scenarios : restore entire VM, immediate restore with the following migration, I tried even importing this backup and restoring VM from imported file - ALL FAILED with the same symptoms: restoration starts very optimistically and energetically, going to the point of 45-46 GB of vhdx restoration, stops, nothing seems to be happening, only process timer shows it is still alive and ticking, and this frozen state continues for 5 to 8 hours just to get this ChannelError: ConnectionReset. Thank you!
I have what I hope is a simple question. What’s the best practice for the a high availabilty SQL server for the VSPC or Veeam ONE configuration database. I see in https://www.veeam.com/kb2301 how to deploy SQL AOAG for VBR and VEM. I’m not sure if this applies to VSPC or Veeam ONE.
Hey guys!I just wanted to show my love for VEEAM - I have brought them with me from company to company over my nearly 20 year career and the product only gets better over time - I know it has some flaws as does every solution but I am happy to be implementing a new VEEAM environment and finally getting rid of the atrocious Rubrik chaos I have been a VEEAM champion for a while now - and I have brought my VEEAM team with me from company to company and with any luck, one of these days, I will find out how to earn the “VEEAM Legend” title
To back up data from M365 one can pre-create an app within AzureAD and connect via a certificate from VBM. Then no additional login to M365 is necessary:Step 5. Register or Select Azure AD Application - Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 GuideKeep in mind that you do not need to select this check box if you have granted the required permissions to the specified Azure AD application beforehand and already registered its certificate in Azure Active Directory. If the Grant this application required permissions and register its certificate in Azure AD check box is not selected, Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 skips the Log in to Microsoft 365 step and proceeds to Finish Working With Wizard. But once you want to restore back to M365 things change: From within Exchange Explorer, you are prompted to do the device flow login with e.g. an Exchange admin to restore mail objects.Though while deploying the AzureAD-App an impersonation user was already specified. Is there a way to pre-define rights to th

Hi Everyone, Always check the latest patch information and save yourselves some time troubleshooting :) I had a tenant run into this error on the health checks during health checks. Turns out it is a known issue and is resolved in the latest patch: https://www.veeam.com/kb4420?ad=in-text-link#:~:text=Cannot%20find%20previous%20full%20backup%20to%20calculate%20incremental%20backups%20estimate
My final Veeam Update. The aftermath! It did not take long for my swag to disappear. This time Alfred the Legend Cat and the Veeam Teddy bear I found with their new friend Carlos. Carlos is highly trained in DH, “Dealing with Humans” so he always opens his eyes slightly when people approach, just in case, the old trust but check thing :) If you look closely below in his den you will also see the Cloudian Ninja hanging out as well. I'm running Server 2022 Definitely in 64 bit (Do they make 32 bit even????) and whenever I try to create a VMWare proxy or any other proxy I get the error "VMware backup proxy requires 64-bit operating system" I have no idea why, and I haven't found anywhere leading me to anyone else having this exact issue either. Any idea what might cause it?

I have got the following error for 4 different VMs server’s backup jobs . this is happening for thre consecutive day now6/15/2023 11:34:55 PM :: Task failed. Failed to expand object RDS09. Error: The RPC server is unavailable. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800706BA) any solution , suggestion? I really appreciate your help and Thanks in advance.
One thing I really miss from other backup products I have managed, more detail displayed about what an active job is doing. For example, a running Backup for 365 is taking a really long time. The whole job summary says how many objects it has processed, number of items processed and the data transferred. But it does not show the same details in the actions. It only shows the name of the item and how long it is taking. It would be really handy to know how many items and how much data has been transferred at the object level. Would help me understand what is going on and would allow me to investigate what changed to prompt a difference in backup times.
Hi, My last 2 cases are not going smooth with the Veeam support. My first case was regarding this topic and I did finally solved it myself. Then I get respons with the question how I did solved it!My new case posted 1st of aug is still in status new. Is it really because of the holidays, or are there under-staffed? I know, the severity is low, as it is not urgent, but normally I get a respons faster. The question I did ask them:My Veeam server is on a seperated VLAN, other than my ESXi servers. My storage is DirectSAN accessible. Only If I use Instant Recovery or SureBackup, the NFS mount to backup repository (local storage on server) is going over the Firewall, and I want to prevent that. So I did create on my ESXi another kernel adapter in the same lan of Veeam and yes, the connection with NFS running trough that kernel and the mount is successfully, I can even browse, but Veeam referring in the job to the NFS via FQDN what is on another IP and therefore fails as the ESXi is communicat
Hi Veeam Community! We are looking to migrate our backups from a standard repository to an SOBR in order to utilise Wasabi storage for capacity tier. We current have backups jobs storing to local storage repository with 30 day retention, with copy jobs to a another backup repository at one of our other sites for offsite/archival backup purposes. Local repository is around 30TB and ‘offsite/archive’ repository is around 100TB. Ideally we would like to move the primary repository to performance tier of an SOBR and remote repository to capacity tier. Is this a supported migration, or will the backup copy job part cause us issues? Ideally we would prefer not to have to create new jobs, and maintain backup history. We are running B&R V12. Any insight or tips on how to achieve the above would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!Cameron
My new technical paper “Cyber Resilience for the Modern Data Center” will available on Dell Education Website this Friday. You can download it for reference.https://education.dell.com/content/emc/en-us/home/certification-overview/knowledge-sharing.htmlThis technical paper provides information on multi-tier Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCDR). We will consider how to plan and design the cyber-resilient architecture for data recovery across three separate locations; will discuss the high-level and low-level design of this data recovery solution. This cyber-resilient architecture includes software-defined storage (SDS), unified backup and recovery software and backup hardware appliance. Veeam Data Platform is one of core components in this solution. Please stay tuned.
“Restore of OneNote notebooks from backups of Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft OneDrive for Business and Microsoft Teams data for organizations with modern app-only authentication is not supported.”...and both other connection options require EWS, which is no longer supported. Therefore restoration is not possible? I know you can restore to a zip and do a copy later. If that’s correct, is there a solution in the works? Thanks. https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbo365/guide/vbo_considerations.html?zoom_highlight=onenote&ver=70https://www.veeam.com/kb4365
Hi there, I run an MSP and have just started to get get familiar with Veeam products. The community editions are fantastic.I’ve setup some Sharepoint jobs which are now working, but get a 404 error on a sharepoint file which highlights the job with a warning. https://xxx.sharepoint.com/All Users Shared/_catalogs/masterpage/v4.master A few questions if you don’t mind. How can I exclude the path / file or supress the error When SP backups are running - (Physical machine with CPU i7 4.0, 32Gb) spikes and holds 100% for long periods of time - is this normal? e.g. SP has about 30k objects Memory can go to 5Gb-15Gb - will it use as much as it can? I had some 429 or throttling issues, but adding more applications fixed it issueThank you very much,DP
