I have been working with VONE 13 since it dropped yesterday and after upgrading my homelab server I found a bug within the Alarms Overview dashboard in the WebUI.  After checking with Jorge in the forums it was noted that if you assign a location to any components this causes the bug.  You need to have no locations and this will be addressed in the next release.Forum Post - (3) Possible Bug - VONE - Alarms Overview screen - R&D ForumsBug -VONE Bug on Alarms Overview screen when Locations assigned Fixed when no locations set -

Recently, I migrated our SAP HANA environment to use the Veeam backup plugin, replacing the old Commvault plugin. The process had a few challenges that I want to share for anyone doing something similar. The ProblemAfter uninstalling the Commvault plugin, I noticed that some old configurations were still on the system. Well some good news for those that are fans of my previous three books, today I was able to get my hands on something that will allow me to start the outline and process for the fourth book on v13.  Looking forward to delivering a fresh new take of Veeam v13 with the new appliance model and the JeOS ISO servers.I will also be covering the AI pieces as well that have been put in to the latest releases along with the new VONE v13.  I will see about the Windows version upgrade path and depending how long that takes might skip it from the book and just go with the appliance since this to me is the future.So hold on to your hats and hopefully I can aim to get this out early 2026.  If there are specific topics anyone wants to see covered feel free to post them here or DM me if you like. 😎

Recently I had to configure a backup on a physical Linux server that stores over half a petabyte of traffic fine images collected from speed cameras on federal highways in Brazil.   The catch: this server runs critical client applications, and any migration to another server is extremely sensitive and requires careful planning before taking action. At the moment, a full migration wasn’t feasible.Due to the urgency of the demand, it was necessary to implement a backup solution immediately, but the server cannot go down for even one minute. Any downtime would mean fines not being recorded, resulting in immediate financial loss.  The Challenge of Backing Up a Mission-Critical Environment

 Upgrading from 12.3.0.310 to 12.3.2.3617 stopped at the database check with “Failed to connect to PostgreSQL server localhost:5432.” The fix was to map the exact Windows identity that launched setup in pg_ident.conf, restart PostgreSQL, and rerun the installer. The Task at Hand, or the problem to solveAs a service provider that is actively growing our BaaS offering, one major source or growth is Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365.  While it’s relatively easy to understand rental license consumption when backing up VM’s (number of projected workloads * points per license utilized), figuring out how many licenses consumed in VB365 is much more difficult on the surface because, depending on how you’ve selected your objects to be backed up from Microsoft 365 such as selection via groups, you clearly can protect many more objects than you’ve manually selected and consume more licenses.  And some objects don’t consume licenses.  If you have a dedicated VB365 server for each Organization, perhaps this would be easier.  But in my case, we have a single VB365 server orchestrating backups for multiple organizations/tenants.  But I need to know how many licenses I’m consuming per Org so that I know how much to bill them, or to make sure they’re

In this short guide, I will highlight the steps to upgrade Veeam Backup and Replication v12.3.x to 12.3.2. This update for 12.3.2 (Build 12.3.2.3617) was released June 17, 2024). Upgrading to the latest version of Veeam Backup & Replication ensures you stay protected with critical security fixes, gain access to new features, and benefit from improved stability and performance. Below are some of the vulnerabilities that the 12.3.2 addresses. I will recommend taking a look at this KB article to see the vulnerabilities resolved in Veeam Backup & Replication 12.3.2. There are no pre-requisites per se’ before performing the steps listed below, except for the HA enable configuration steps I shared in my Part 1 post. Many of my customers (luckily) are using Sure Backups. Some of the subnets are also quite small (i.e., smaller than /24). When configuring the network settings in the Virtual Lab wizard, there is a little problem which can easily be handled. Veeam automatically inserts the appropriate letters for masking in the masquerading network.For example, if you configure a /24 network, the wizard inserts a “D” in the fourth octet. This is correct and must be done this way. The situation is different if the subnet is smaller. For example, if you have a /25 network and enter it in the wizard, the fourth octet of the masquerading network no longer displays a letter, but the number of the subnet mask.

When you try to install or upgrade the Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager 12.1, it might fail to create a website, and the error code is 0x80070020.  You can follow the instructions to open the logs folder and try to check the cause of the issues.
