Grafana will no longer be included in the Veeam Kasten installation process from the upcoming release 7.5.0. Upon upgrading to this version, the integrated version of Grafana will be removed. VolumeSnapshot and VolumeSnapshotContent not deleted using rook-ceph

Hi, I’m currently using K10 in a “no-local, all S3” policy, meaning that every local snapshot made for backups has to be immediatley deleted once it has been exported to S3, as seen here : I have no problems with backups whatsoever, but I do have a pile (1700+) of VolumeSnapshots that are not deleted. ExportAction to S3 fails for no clear reason

K10 7.5.4 kubernetes version v1.29.8-eks-47985ba I’m interested in moving my velero backups over to Kasten, but so far its been quite unreliable and very inconsistent experience for me, debugging has been a huge hussle due to the fact that the logs almost never points at an issue properly, but i’m fully open to the possibility that this is a skill issue on my side… so please enlighten me. Additionally the kubernetes is using a private cloud environment that is similar to AWS itself. I have a local pypi server, with 25gb of data in total, a local object storage (aws s3 like) that seem to be consistent in being able to back up so far, compressed to 14gb after upload all good… even restore worked once. as part of my effort to migrate into kasten i tried to backup to s3 too in addition to my local object storage. i made two attempts in total, both resulted in the following errors : kubectl get --raw /apis/actions.kio.kasten.io/v1alpha1/namespaces/tlv-infra/exportactions/scheduled-sdzjhs8vx

Restore to the new namespace fails

Hello,We are testing functionalities of the Kasten K10 7.5.2 and Kasten fails to restore the app/namespace to the different one in the same cluster. Unable to Backup stateful application

Hi Team, We are currently testing backup for a stateful application, and we have deployed WordPress and SQL Server. For the backup process, we are using a blueprint. We created a blueprint for SQL Server and bound it to the SQL Server namespace. However, when attempting the backup, we encounter the following error: Job Execution Failed Failed to prime the snapshot sessionFailed to prepare Kopia backup sessionFailed to initialize Kopia API serverTwo errors occurredError Details: Failure during the snapshot cleanup phase. Snapshots might be orphaned.Currently, there is no CSI driver available for Azure Arc AKS, so we are trying to perform the backup using the Kanister blueprint instead. Please have a look and let us know if there are any suggestions or solutions.

jobs-svc pod does not start

jobs-svc pod does not start, failing with these messages in the logs: msg: no profile buffers configured and panic: invalid freelist page, 2 page type is leaf I don’t know if they’re related to each other. Kasten K10 7.5.2 DR failing - "Prior policy run ist still in progress"

I have tried disabling and re-enabling Kasten Dr but no matter what I do, it still skips with: “Prior policy run is still in progress”. Meanwhile nothing is backed-up to the AWS S3 bucket. Any idea why this is happening? -Mark

Problem with postgresql backup via blueprint

Hello, I’m not able to backup my postgres database via blueprint anymore. I already did a complete new installation of k10 (with current 5.0.7 release), but I still have the following problem. In the Kanister-job that makes the DB dump, everything looks fine. I can see the logical size and also the kopiaOutput JSON being created. restore bug: kasten restore pvc in itself namespace then move to workload namespace, this will make pvc metadata lost

When Kasten restores a PVC from a snapshot, it clones a PVC from the snapshot in the Kasten namespace. After the backend storage prepares the PV, the PVC in the Kasten namespace is deleted， then delete workload’s namespace pvc, finally, a new PVC is created in the workload's namespace and bound to the prepared PV. This behavior disrupts a functional feature of the CSI interface, as detailed in this link (https://github.com/kubernetes-csi/external-provisioner/pull/399). In summary, the consequence is that from the perspective of the backend, all PVs appear to belong to the Kasten namespace. This can lead to unpredictable outcomes during backend cluster synchronization, mirroring, migration, and disaster recovery.

error snapshot timeout

Hi all, my Kasten was working fine for over 1 year. For a few days I can't take snapshots anymore (they time out). The problem also occurs during the simple validation of the storage class. error with kasten backup of Openshift ImageStreams

Hi guys, I’m deploying Kasten on a client’s Redhat openshift infrastructure and a question has risen, as far as we are concerned, Kasten can protect ImageStreams but this client uses Quay and when we try to configurethis option in the backup policy we get an error saying “creds are missing for an image repository" trying to test this on a local lab (not using quay) throws the same error. We opened a support case and were told that kasten cannot backup images from quay. Documentation doesn´t say anything about it, neither about prerequisites nor limitations so we’re kinda lost. Has anyone configured kasten on a similar scenario? Thanks in advance

Kasten 7.0.14 not respecting new parameters?

You can review my journey upgrading form 7.06 to 7.0.14 in this post. I have a 200Gi PVC that is 155GB written of tiny little index files. It does take quite a bit of time to clone the snapshot, and Kasten would time out after 15min of waiting. I fixed it by increasing kanister.backupTimeout (KanisterBackupTimeout) parameter from 45min to 150min, and the kanister.podReadyWaitTimeout (KanisterPodReadyWaitTimeout) from 15min to 45min. During my upgrade journey to 7.0.14, I saw that these parameters were depreciated and replaced by timeout.blueprintBackup and timeout.workerPodReady respectively. So naturally I added them to my helm update command and they were added to my k10-config ConfigMap. My ConfigMap now has both old and new parameters for the Worker Pod Timeout (copy-data-xxxxx pod) set to 45min but I am now getting timeout errors that my “Pod did not transition into running state. Timeout:15m0s” I have tried without the old values in the ConfigMap as well and no change. I have als
