Hello. I create backup job with RMAN plugin. When I started backup it is running normal and taking backup. I also selected in configuration to delete archive logs after completing backup. Backup completed successfully but not delete archive logs from DB. Can you please help me to solve this problem ? Thanks in advance
Good day all,Need some great specs suggestions for creating a suitable VM to run my new backup software. My boss said VM only, nor Bare metal. What specs are you running in your environment? not the default Veaam sys req online, that is too general. I just need some workable ideas
Hello everybody, First, thank you for your input; I appreciate your help! I wonder when is the Linux Veeam Backup Appliance will be released ?Because yesterday we are impacted with the CrowdStrike Falcon incident which caused the Backup server and the Backup Proxy to be encrypted. Only the Immutable Repo is not impacted with this incident.
I’m just learning this software and I was wondering what were to happen if my backup server computer was destroyed or something went wrong and how I would be able to access the backup from a new computers server?I saw this article: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/vsphere/importing_backups.html?ver=120But it mentions:The server from which you plan to import backups must be added to the backup infrastructure. Otherwise, you will not be able to access backup files. So I am wondering - how can I add that server to a new computers server if the original server is gone? Would this mean those backups are never able to be recovered?
Hello,I cannot add an esxi host on veeam with each operation I get the error No connection could be established because the target computer expressly refused it.NB: I can connect to my esxi host via web using the default port. Thanks
Hello,Next year i will buy dedicated BareMetal server for VBR, tape drive and Azure HCI node for hypervisor.Currently i propose install VBR on BareMetal server and use local hdd as repository and as tape server also. Also i have another thought to install linux on the BareMetal and install VBR on the VM inside Azure HCI. But with this scenario, can i use that linux server as tape server also?Which two scenario above is best and whether anyone here have another best scenario also?
Hopefully someone here can help me:I have two Windows Clusters, one in Site A and one in Site B. Inside these windows clusters are two Windows File Server Clusters as guest clusters consisting of three nodes in Site A (FS_CLUSA) and two nodes in Site B (FS_CLUSB) . Each fileserver cluster is using a shared vhdx file as the storage volume.Ideally I would like to replicate FS_CLUSA → FS_CLUSB however Veeam does not support replication of virtual machines with shared VHDX or CSV volumes. We settled on the idea of simply doing a volume level backup of FS_CLUSA and restoring it to FS_CLUSB to keep the two clusters up to date (give or take a few hours). I have been able to restore the volume from FS_CLUSA to FS_CLUSB via the console no problem, because I can specify a different target to the host. However reading the veeam powershell documentation to start to automate this process, leads me to the command Start-VBRComputerVolumeRestore (which only supports restoration to the original locati
Hello everyone,I am doing VBR migration, and the configuration restoration stucked in “rescanning tape server”, actually, I am not sure how much should it takes or what should I do if it is still stucking
Hi all, I want to keep my backups for a year.Storage disks are expensive, so I can't keep this daily, and I gonna use GFS. If I want to keep 1 recovery point per week for 1 year, should I set it to “48 weeks” (4 weeks * 12 months) in the 'Configure GFS' wizard?? Does it make sense to assign a Monthly GFS flag if I assign a 48 Weekly GFS flags?I'm still not sure of the best practice on how to use GFS ! ; ( Please, any advice would be appreciated.Thank you.
One of our customers is currently using VBR 12.1. Customer is replication some VMs form Primary site to Secondary site. Customer is planning to run a script for installing some package during the replication job is running. When the VMs failback to secondary to primary customer wants run again script for uninstall the package. Is it possible to run this script during failback? If not possible what can we do in this case?Any idea? Thanks is advamce
hi all,a crwod strike update causes a BSOD loop of Windows systems.CrowdStrike update causing blue screen error for systems running Microsoft Windows: report (local12.com) Boot Windows into Safe Mode or the Windows Recovery Environment Navigate to the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\CrowdStrike directory Locate the file matching “C-00000291*.sys”, and delete it. Boot the host normally.
My Veeam is set to wake, backup, and sleep at around 4am. When I later wake my computer during the day a pop up comes up saying “Veeam completed backup and will sleep in:” and then a 60 second timer before it autosleeps. I assume this is the same timer that is used at 4am to autosleep my computer, but for some reason that dialog stays active after sleep and I need to cancel it. I will try to get a screenshot the next time it comes up tomorrow.
Hi there, we run a relatively small Backup Environment with Veeam Backup & Replication 12. I have several File Backup Jobs of unstructured Data from our Server. The Jobs use a local NAS as Onsite Repository, a Remote NAS as Offsite Repository (secondary Target) and a local StoreOnce VSA as an Archive Repository. It works as it should. But i cannot get my head around how i can access the contents of this very Archive, that is created alongside the File Backup Job. Is there a way to access this Archive directly? There’s also no Backup Mapping available on that Page. What happens if i loose access to that Archive; say - Veeam Backup System dies and i have to reassign everything in a fresh install again. How can i get access to that Archive again? Many thanks in advance for your help.Steffen
Hello everyone! Help me to remember: On v12 shouldn't I be able to run an active full separately by VM?I right click on VM but nothing happens. Obs.: My repository is setup per machine backup files.
Hi folks, I need to understand a little bit about NAS backup using NDMP protocol. I have read this article https://www.veeam.com/blog/nas-data-protection-best-practices.html written by Matt Crape. In particular I want discuss about third modelThree-way model: In this model, backup data flows from NAS to the backup server, which then sends that data to the backup device. This model requires three-way communication between NAS, the backup server and the backup device. Some advantages of this model are that it allows for better control over the backup process and greater scalability. However, this option may also introduce additional load on your network. If I understood VBR Server manage backup, after connecting with NAS, and write on a primary repository. HAve you experience in this model backup? I will try to push the customer to use classic file backup starting from here https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/hyperv/file_share_support.html?ver=120 But if our client want use NDMP I n
Hi, I am testing with Veeam to find out if it suits our needs. My first backup job though already fails under the rescan. Running the guest credentials test gives me this error in the log:‘RPC client failed to call method [GetSvcVersion]’.I like to backup a Windows 11 VirtualBox VM. The Windows firewall is switched off on that machine. VirtualBox and Veeam B&R are running on the same machine. The VM is connected via bridged networking. The RPC services are running on the VM and the Veeam installer service on the Veeam B&R machine. Thanks for any help or hints.
The recent CrowdStrike outage in the news highlights the importance of Data Protection in recovering systems. Robust data protection measures, such as regular backups and encryption, can expedite the recovery process. By backing up data, organizations can restore systems to a previously operational state quickly and ensure data integrity.Data protection plays a crucial role in minimizing downtime, maintaining customer trust, and reducing disruption during outages. Given the global reach of this incident, I came across a blog post by Brad Linch (Veeam Ent SE Manager) that may be of interest to the community. This blog describes how Veeam Data Platform users can take advantage of the features to seamlessly restore operations for Windows:Instant VM Restore Quick Rollback File-Level Restore Cross-Platform Recovery Cloud Platforms Replication and CDP Failover Orchestration At-ScaleThe blog is a 5 minute read and you can find the page below:https://www.veeam.com/blog/data-resilience-in-the-w
This has got to be one of my most longstanding favorite features from VEEAM!! I’ve had so many customers over the years that have small to mid-sized environments and no dev lab! They have complicated applications or scenarios that need testing and before this they were literally testing in production. VEEAM FTW with making this possible with vPower technology to mount the image to an ESXi host directly from a backup file!! 😁 If you’ve not done this, go check it out! It’s the same as configuring the SureBackup job, but keeping the VMs running by selecting the checkbox in the screenshot below allows you to remote into them once they’re all up and running. Make sure that checkbox is checked to keep the SureBackup job runningFrom there, do your testing and see the results! My earliest time using this was in 2013 a customer had needed to update a SharePoint 2010 farm with a data connection to a separate SQL server and email routing of files. The customer hadn’t updated the solution since it

I’m experiencing an identical issue to this post on the latest version of Veeam B&R and Veeam Agent for Windows. I’m creating a new post to learn if there is another option besides simply disabling the CBT driver.Veeam B&R Version: 12.1.2.172Veeam Agent for Windows Version: 6.1.2.134Windows Version: Windows 10 Pro 22H2 19045.4713Problematic Device: Amazon Kindle Paperwhite 5Error: SYSTEM THREAD EXCEPTION NOT HANDLEDFailed: VeeamVolumeCT.sysIn contrast to the original post, I cannot bypass this issue by leaving the device connected during boot. Windows immediately returns the BSOD - or GSOD in my case - and experiences a boot loop.Uninstalling the CBT driver from Veeam B&R removes the issue but the implications of this solution are less than ideal as the Veeam CBT driver should be in use.
This is a reproducible BSOD caused by a veeam software driverI know this is strange, but, so far, this happens on two machines in my home lab.1. windows 11 laptop - running VAgent - 6.0.2.10902. windows server 2022 - running VBR - 12.0.0.1420 P20230718Every time I plugged in my Kindle into the USB port, Windows does a BSODTo be honest, I am very dependent on my Kindle. My old model died, just got the new one and every time I plug it in, my machine hard crashes with BSOD, on every machine I have at home. What does the .sys file do, Is there a way to disable that .sys driver, is there a temporary workaround, anything? Please Help, David
I have an install of Enterprise Manager that is still referencing an old vcenter server that does not exist any longer. Of course, I can’t just right click it and remove it, since it doesn’t exist anymore, so I was wondering what procedure I can follow to remove this stale vcenter server from my Enterprise Manager. Thank you
Hi:During some time, a Solaris agent backup worked well, but some day ago failed with the error "Incorrect zpool state value: SUSPENDED"The first day with the error was July 17, but on July 15 the same backup worked OK.Also, we reviewed zpool that the job use in Solaris ([/RMAN_FULL_DIARIO_PACSELD] is a ZFS file system. Associated with zpool [RMAN_FULL_DIARIO_PACSELD].), but the state of this zpool is ONLINEThe only detail in this Solaris server is that exist ANOTHER zpool that WE NOT USE IN THE BACKUP with SUSPENDED state.Support case: 07347488 Any idea?
