Anyone had experience of using Veritas 5250/5x50 appliances with Veeam? I believe the appliances can support SMB/NFS so as long as that is available then yes….

if anyone has any thoughts or experiences please let me know.

I never used, but I would avoid SMB if possible. It’s never very good for a repository.

thanks. What issues are there with SMB apart from potential security based on a common protocol. We could go with NFS v4

I worry about performance. SMB it’s not very good, but you can test to see if the performance is good for your enviroment.

Never dealt with those appliances but I would set up two tests - SMB and NFS.  You will find that NFS will work much better especially v4 of it as you can do multithreading.  Never use SMB anymore.

Let us know how it goes as it will definitely help out others.

I would be concerned about bi-directional supportability given the nature of Veeam and the provider of the disk system. Officially speaking, the device is not a Veeam Ready - Repository qualified device Veeam Alliance Partner Technical Programs
