Morning!In the latest “The Word From Gostev”, Anton Gostev has announced that the v11a platform update should be entering early availability this week. Normally you’d have to engage with Veeam support to receive this as a download but based on what appears to be a lack of engagement with this method (Anton stated they were never happy with the number of downloads yielded via this method), Veeam are looking to release the new updates during EA status via the Veeam R&D forums. If you’ve been living under a rock and you’re not aware of them, these are at https://forums.veeam.com To download the update you’ll need to go to the relevant product section of the forum.I’ll update this post when the EA downloads become available.Update:Thanks to @Mildur we know the updates will be

I just got all of our systems upgraded to v12.  With that said, I have two clients using hardened repo’s and two different people set them up, neither of them were me, and the system I’m working on now - the engineer that set that up left the company and moved on a couple months ago.  I planned on dipping into these a while ago but never had the time and am now thrust into it.  And my linux skills are still fairly basic, maybe intermediate at best.So here’s what I have:The configuration, not that I think it matters, but is a Ubuntu VM running on a Synology NAS with a virtual disk mounted to the VM.  I upgraded from v11 to v12 but the repository became unavailable during this process.  Single-use credentials are in place and I think I’ve mostly got around the learning curve on this, but can’t quite make connections on things.There are two accounts, I’ll call them “repouser” and “admin”.  Repouser is the account that should have permissions to the repo at /mnt/vee

I was waiting and waiting for the shoes I won. All it took was for @Kseniya to pickup the phone during the Legends call last week and boom! they are here :) Minus 20 outside with snow, plus lockdown so no strutting in the clubs but at home!!! All I will wear now :) Thanks  

Hello,what are the minimum permissions that linux user needs to have to be able to do file level restore using Veeam?Setup is as it follows:I have Rocky Linux 9.5 OS VM and I have Win Server host where Veeam is located. The goal is to be able to do file level restore from that Linux server. The thing is I need user for it.What I would like to do, I only want the user to be able to do restore from one specific directory, I don’t want him to be able to see anything else or do anything else, except the restore part, what is the best way to achieve this?

I built a Hardened Repository using the ISO provided here many months ago.  Very happy with it, until I decided to upgrade Veeam to 12.1.  Now it wants to update components on the Hardened Repository end or it will no longer be usable, which it can’t.  Is there a workflow to deal with this or do I have to start all over again on the Hardened Repository side?

Happy New Year Community!Has anyone who’s upgraded VBR to v12.1… have there been any notable issues reported? I know with the upgrade, which supports upgrade of vSphere to 8U2, there is a CBT bug within vSphere when upgrading VM disks. That isn’t a Veeam issue though...rather a VMware issue. Simple fix for that is simply don’t upgrade vSphere to 8U2. 🙂 Other than that, has there been anything discussed ‘in the wild’ as it were on upgrade issues I have not yet heard about? I’d like to upgrade, but want to make sure there’s no egregious bugs before doing so. Cheers all.

I wanted to ask the community on here to get a discussion going about whether using VMs for Veeam is good, bad or indifferent?  It is based on a question from the forum here - VM as repo - Veeam R&D ForumsI added my thoughts to this post as I disagree with some of the comments about having to use physical servers as the BP site mentions both physical and virtual.  I also work at an MSP and everything we build is virtual for Veeam other than a few tape servers we have which are physical boxes since they perform better this way with direct connect to the FC fabric.Anyway just wanted to see the communities opinions here and not to put one or the other down just thoughts and what everyone is doing now.And go…….  🤣

Was talking to @Kseniya about this the other day, those of you that don’t have your real name as your username, what’s the reason behind your name? 

Hi all.  There is the possibility that this weekend I might need to restore all of our domain controllers in our domain (hopefully this does not come to pass).  It is not a very active AD domain so hopefully but I might have to go back about 3 weeks to get around a problem.Can someone point me to documentation as to how to do this from within Veeam with all the DCs down?  This would mean that no dns resolution will be happening (do I have to create a hosts file on the Veeam server to get around this?).Another hiccup is that for one of the DCs, I notice now that application aware processing has not been turned on so it is going to be restored as just a member server without any special processing for the AD database.Thanks.

Hi,  We’ve just upgraded our Veeam Backup and Replication server to v12.1.0.213.  All went very smoothly.  I also upgraded the Backup and Replication Console, which sits on another server, to the same version. We usually use this for access to Veeam.  Again, the upgrade went well with nothing untoward being apparent.  However, now my Veeam console will not log in to the Veeam Server. I get a message saying “Failed to connect VeeamBackup & Replication server: The logon attempt failed.”On investigation, I found that this occurred when I was using the server name (as the field was auto-populated with this info from before the upgrade).  However, if I use the IP of the Veeam server, the console connects as expected.  I tested this using the full FQDN of the Veeam server, but still did not connect - it only seems to connect using the IP. Has anyone got any suggestions of how I can connect using server name again?Thanks.

The roadmap for LTO tape has been extended up to generation 14 which is projected to store up to 576TB of uncompressed data and a unbelievable amount of 1440TB of compressed data on one tape.It will be interesting to see if this can be realized and the capacity be doubled with each of the coming generations...See more here:https://www.lto.org/2022/09/lto-program-announces-extension-to-the-lto-tape-technology-roadmap-to-generation-14/ 

Hey VEEA-ers, I finally got VEEAM installed and running and configured and I am starting to kick off jobs, but my speeds are slow (100mbps) or when writing I have a full 10gb backbone and a dedicated NIMBLE specifically for my VEEAM data and I have a physical server with 4x 10gb NICs on it (2 for management and 2 for data) any ideas as to why it could be slow? I am doing some troubleshooting, but was curious if anyone had any thoughts before I went down a rabbit hole thanks guys

I learned a lot during the last few weeks about Veeam and I am kind of exited about this software. I resolved almost all problems, but there is still one issue I cant get a grip on. Ich have several backup jobs in a chain. No parallel Jobs. I have a lightning fast proxy (Veeam suggests a maximum of 24 parallel jobs).My persisting promlem is, that jobs get stuck absolutly randomly. Sure, after hours the stuck job fails, goes into retry1 and finishes successfull. But thats not satisfying… Is there anything I missed about jobs getting stuck? Just for your information: Jobs launch and run. They get stuck somewhere after 20%, 50% or 90%. So abolutly random… I recognized that the “veeam backup service” gets completly frozen. This service cant be stopped by anything else than a server restart.

Hi, I recently upgraded to the most recent version of B&R community edition and I think as part of that process, one of my Windows PC did not failed to update its Agent properly.  Now, that Windows PC always shows up as offline and when I try to reinstall/update Agent from the console, I get “6/22/2024 5:19:43 PM Warning Failed to connect to MyPC Details: Failed to call RPC function 'PckgFind': Unknown property.” I know that PC is on and has network connection.  Is there a way for me to manually reinstall the Agent on that PC?  If so, where can I find the installation files?   Thank you!

Hi everyone,recenly i’m doing some test on the veeam backup&replication community edition on my Dell R710 which is running server 2019 standard. And at the first time, i can add a hyper-v server which is running server2019 (standalone) to the backup job, but once i deleted the job, i cannot add any hyper-v again.It always shows :Failed to connect to host 10.178.3.41Access denied or timeout expired. (sometimes is invalid namespace)Check if you have local administrator privileges on computer '10.178.3.41'.Possible reasons:1. Invalid credentials.2.
