Since majority of us use Windows for our day to day operations, in this guide, you will learn about Windows update expiration policy.By expiring older, redundant packages, you will get better performance, shorter scan times, a faster user experience, and a reduced risk of deploying older updates that have been superseded with newer, more secure ones.Note: This policy only applies to Windows updates. Updates for other Microsoft software or firmware may have different policies and should be considered separately. An expired package will not appear in Windows Update scan results thereby reducing internet data usage.Kindly visit this link to learn more.
In this demo I illustrate how you too can utilize the Pure Storage platform to provide rapid recovery and near-zero replication for your Veeam repositories. This lab consists of 2 Pure arrays, 2 vSphere clusters and a single VCenter. Though in this lab we could use other means to provide recovery, say through vSphere, this setup up was used to simply illustrate an easy to use and efficient DR strategy from Production to a DR cluster. Utilizing, Veeam. In this lab I built 2 Veeam servers. The first holds the Veeam Backup Server, proxy, and primary repository. The second runs the Veeam Disaster Recovery (VDRO) server and is the remote repository. In this lab – I do not utilize VDRO for recovery – that will come in a later post.Normally, in a Veeam scenario like this there would be 2 Veeam jobs providing restores and the local and remote sites. The first would be the primary backup job to the repository local to the production site. The second, would be what is called a backup copy job from
Today’s #VMCE2020 #DailyQuiz walkthrough is ready. Are you running SureBackup tests on your production hosts? or did you decide to repurpose older hosts for this? If yes, what happens if there is insufficient CPU or memory on those hosts? What about custom roles? Did you create any? If yes, for which applications?Try this question and more at https://rasmushaslund.com/vmce-practice-exam/

Hi! Thinking about Polish M365 users i prepared short article about Veeam Backup for MS365. https://inleo.pl/blog/veeam-backup-for-ms365-czyli-gdzie-zaczyna-sie-twoja-odpowiedzialnosc/Here is English summary. Microsoft’s Shared Responsibility Model, in the simplest words, says “Your data – your matter.”Many people aren’t aware of that and think they are protected against data loss. They are partially right, but only in case of internal Microsoft infrastructure failures. Microsoft replicates its regions between each other to maintain the continuity of the services. But replication and backup are different things. If your file gets damaged, it will be replicated in its current state, and you will not be able to restore it. If you delete a file accidentally, and 93 days are left (the time of MS Data retention), you will not be able to restore it. So how do you cope with it?The solution is Veeam Backup for M365, a great tool that allows you to protect data stored in M365, Hybrid, or On-Pre
I case you haven’t seen. There are currently two ongoing surveys from Veeam; one about the Help Center and the documentations, the other one about the livestreams (Industry Insights, TechBytes). Hi Everyone, More and more of us are spending our days wandering around various CLIs. There are times when you need to jump out into a file explorer in the precise location where your pwd command locates you.on windows simply type start .on a Mac doopen .and on Linux (I will demo this since I am in my basement on one of my stashed Linux machines hidden away :) xdg-open .So here I am in my Pictures directory I would like to see the thumbnails quickly so here it goes and Voila! If the xdg-open command is too long for you go ahead and create an alias in your .bashrc file
Hi Folks, As always in the world of $$ money people will stretch meanings and at times outright make false statements. There is no point in going after them time and time again. Instead just make sure to read and understand the guidelines provided by the source. Veeam have created a great white paper on Zero Trust in Data Protection. They have spelled things out to make it easy for everyone to understand. You can read it here: https://www.veeam.com/whitepapers/pragmatic-approach-to-implementing-zero-trust_wp.pdfAt the end of the day the goal is to defeat ransomware. So approaches that don’t follow what Veeam have stated means that you are taking more risk. Be very careful as I have seen advertising using the terminology of Zero Trust but describing something that is doing the exact opposite of Zero Trust. Again people can sell what they like, just don’t label something chewing gum if it is in fact asphalt.
Today’s #VMCE2020 #DailyQuiz walkthrough is ready. Are you using virtual labs? What about virtual labs in a different site than your backup server? How did you handle it?Try this question and more at https://rasmushaslund.com/vmce-practice-exam/
Hi Folks, One topic that I don’t think has been addressed or discussed is VeeamON in relation to all of our many duties and responsibilities. How do you fit it in? How do you deal with the extra stress levels? VeeamON was a success and thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended but we would be kidding ourselves if we thought that it did not add extra pressures in our daily lives. First of all some of us might have to convince the bosses of this world that a trip to VeeamON is not, as the British would say just a “Jolly” i.e. vacation have fun only party. Yes we have fun but there is a lot of intense activity and knowledge transfer back and forth. I personally come out of VeeamON with my head exploding with new ideas and initiatives that I have gained from the sessions but even more from simple in person one on one conversations. Then there is the fact that no one is taking away the day job. Some of the folks there were having to simultaneously work during the conference or after hours. I
I was doing a production backup chains upgrade, and we saw an alert for Microsoft Defender Cloud. It was because the blobs were being rescanned and upgraded by Veeam during the backup chains upgrade. All was fine. It's just a triggered alert that could be documented internally as nothing to worry about.
Hi everyone, For a possible upcoming project on the Veeam Community Hub I am looking for someone who has a feeling with Automation. While I cannot share much about the project just yet, I am looking for someone that would have time to assist me and probably someone else in organizing events, blogs, content etc. Please reach out to me with an DM if you are interested
Today’s #VMCE2020 #DailyQuiz walkthrough is ready. Have you used the Veeam Extract utility? GUI? Command line? Windows or linux? Can it extract from VBK? VRB? VIB? How did you get the files back to your hypervisor environment?Try this question and more at https://rasmushaslund.com/vmce-practice-exam/
Another possible topic for a future VMCE study group 😃.We are not robots, although sometimes on a Monday morning I sure do to feel like one. I think that there are very few of us out there you can claim that our performance is always consistent. There are some people who I would term are forever 1 + 1 = 2. However, I know for a fact that I can be 1 + 1 =20 on a certain days, and before I quit drinking beer you could have stuck a random number generator in that equation for all my consistency was worth. We often hear about great athletes, artists and others talking about being in the “zone”. As I understand it this is a state where things are just flowing, complications become easy and performance is optimal. Whatever you want to call such a state we can probably all agree that there are times when we feel that we are getting the best out of ourselves and times when we are not. In other words there are situations when we are not performing to or even near our maximum capabilities. This
Hi Folks, It will be a great honour and huge pleasure to have a chat with Mumshad Mannambeth from Kodekloud. I found all the Kubernetes certifications to be very challenging exams. Kodekloud’s courses are excellent and the practice exams prepared me for what was going to come. All of the Linux Foundation exams (except for the entry level KCNA) are hands on from the command line. There are time restraints and you have to solve real problems that can occur in production. The experience was like dealing with multiple priority 1 emergencies one after the other. The key is learning the material but also putting the kubectl commands to muscle memory. Of course keeping your cool is a huge priority. I hope to find out a lot of interesting details from Mumshad about how he created Kodekloud but also get some tips on what is coming and what are the hot topics in the Devops education world.
Hi Folks,If anyone is preparing for the CKA certification feel free to share or ask me any questions. My 3 years is up and I need to redo the exam as well. I am very lucky to have been asked to lead with fellow Kodekloud Ambassador Nitish Kumar https://www.linkedin.com/in/nitishkumar06/ a closed CKA study group over the next few Months on Kodekloud but am more than happy to try and help folks here as well. Group study makes everyone stronger! So much for taking a bit of rest in the summer. Other upcoming events and tasks, I got talked into taking part in the Tanzu hackathon which hopefully won’t be too embarrassing since I don’t feel I know Tanzu well enough to hack it :). On August 31 I will be taking part in an online panel discussion with about Kubernetes and Tanzu data protection. The Veeam contingent there is going to be very strong as also present will be @michaelcade and @HunterLAFR . In fact if I am not mistaken @HunterLAFR is the organizer even!! As for videos I hopefully wi
