While attending the VeeamON conference in Las Vegas back in May, Veeam announced they will be releasing Veeam Backup & Replication (VBR) v12 later in the year, and gave several sessions presenting what some of those features will be in the new release. I thought I’d do a write-up of what v12 features I’m looking forward to most, as well as provide a few extra lines of other notable features coming.Security-Veeam is upping its security game by implementing Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and Group Managed Service Accounts (gMSA). MFA is self-explanatory. From the VBR Menu > Users and Roles option, a Security window opens for you to select MFA for your Veeam user accounts (see figure below). But what about the gMSA? gMSA is a fantastic concept as it allows Veeam to use Active Directory service accounts while not storing the password locally on the Veeam server (i.e. when using for AAIP). Hi, we just upgraded to the latest VB365 v7 and configure new backup job for whole organization sharepoint sites ( around 550 users) at first full we had a lot error 429, but now its still same with incremental jobs.any experience with these error ? :) tomas

Vulnerability in Veeam Backup & Replication - March 2023

Veeam has just informed it’s customers about an existing vulnerability in Veeam Backup & Replication. Unauthorized users may be able to request encrypted credentials from the VBR service, and therefore get access to the backup infrastructure. The KB articles haven’t received updates so far, but the vulnerability did get a CVSSv3 score of 7.5.EDIT: The KB article has just been published: KB4424It’s recommended to patch VBR as soon as possible!SolutionPatches have been released for VBR V11 and V12. Please keep in mind that older releases are also affected, but no longer get fixes. Applications opened up for the 2023 year, and this time, it was all based on your application, whereas in previous years, you could have others nominate you. I have remained active with the Veeam space promoting the product, blogging, Twitter, Paper.li E-Newspaper, and even wrote a third edition of my book for Packt Publishing - Mastering Veeam Backup & Replication v12So I filled out the application with examples of all my activities throughout the year in the hopes I would be accepted. Hello Everyone, After renaming the server, Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager did not change the target patch, so when I click on the shortcut, it tries to open a web address through my old hostname, can I change my host without deleting anything? It should be like this https://hostname:9443 I changed the IIS site bindings, but this did not change the shortcut, when I type the correct link, I can open it on the web

Changing vCenter Name on Veeam

How can we see here, vCenter IP/FQDN is not possible to change inside of Veeam B&R. In my case I put the IP of vCenter server on Veeam Backup & Replication and now I’d like to change it to a hostname accordingly the DNS server name. So, first of all we need to open the Console / PowerShell on burger menu of Veeam B&R. So, at this moment we need type the command:$Servers = Get-VBRServer -name "old-name-or-ip"On my case the IP of my vCenter server is 192.168.10.100. After that we just need type the following command:$Servers.SetName("new-name-or-ip")On my scenario it is ROM2SRVVLVC01. And now, with this two only commands we can see that the vCenter name was changed on Veeam Backup & Replication: To finish I just rescan the vCenter server again to see all the set up is ok.

With v12 it will be supported to use group Managed Service Account (gMSA) for user credentials.For my understanding of gMSA it will be necessary to have VBR server in a domain. Because it will still not be recommended to join this server the production domain, a special resource or management domain could be needed. Greetings everyone, as you know I have been working on Grafana Dashboards across all Veeam RESTful APIs (the only one pending is VBA GCP), but as the time has passed, the releases and core products I was using have evolved as well…I am talking about the time-series I am using to store all the recollected data from the APIs. I was using InfluxDB v1.x (latest stable release is v1.8), but InfluxData is about to deprecate it and consider it end-of-life at the end of 2021. VMware vCenter Appliance: image backup is deprecated since 7.0

I had the discussion two times last week, so I think it is worth sharing here.You may have noticed, VMware deprecated image level backup of its vCenter Appliance (VCSA) with vSphere 7. What does this mean? Basically, it is still supported to do image level backup and restore with VCSA 7.0. But it will not be supported in future releases. Notice that U1 and U2 are still 7.0 versions. With 7.n, with n>0, VMware will not support image restore of VCSA any more. From my perspective, this step was taken because problems arise when restoring this Linux appliance. I have seen many appliances requiring a filesystem check after restore or crash. When you are lucky, everything works fine afterwards. If not, you have to file a support ticket.To avoid this, VMware offers a new way for VCSA backup. Since 6.5 it is possible to run file-based backups and restore of VCSA. Since 6.7 this can be scheduled. With this, new protocols are supported as well: FTP, FTPS, HTTP, HTTPS, SFTP, NFS, or SMB. Part 1 of the small series is about to install a PostgreSQL server on a Debian system.Ok let’s start.
