Great comment Tyler, thanks. I can add two notes here:   hyperscalers do it better: I’m not so sure, they seems to be able to sustain bigger loads indeed cause the underlying system has many more disks and nodes, but also cause they apply tons of throttling rules on the network. We played a bit at a provider with an on-prem s3 and haproxy cluster in front of it, and we noticed this clearly. When you start to apply throttling the storage has an easier life. But as I said before, at the expense of backup times; HDD only: that’s correct if it’s a capacity tier for SOBR, but for primary backups I’ve started to see many high-end solutions (name the usual suspects) with hybrid, full-flash or even NVME. Yes, as a backup target. The price justification heavily depends on which business you are running, so what sounds unjustifiable for your service, may be totally fine for another. I joke that some day it will become a phone number, you are getting it closer to that @Nico Losschaert  :) I like where you are going, I’d do a small twist: 3-2-1-2-0   3 : Maintain at least 3 copies of your data   2 : Store the backups on 2 different media   1 : Store at least 1 of the copies at an offsite location   2 : Have 2 or more copies that are ultra-resilient (air-gapped, Offline, Immutable or require 4-eyes recovery)   0 : Be sure to have verified backups without errors with recovery verification and free of malware.     Thx @Rick Vanover  for your feedback and I like also your twist 😋

Block size in combination with Veeam Cloud Connect and Object Storage

Setup :  The setup of the Veeam Cloud Connect is a infrastructure that consists of several SOBR’s that consists of multiple extents (performant block-storage physical servers with REFS - 64K) in a performance tier in 1 datacenter and a capacity tier with object storage (performant physical object storage devices) in another datacenter with using the copy-mode and immutability. Of course there is a performant interconnection between the 2 datacenters.   Also, out of curiosity, why ReFS instead of Linux w/ XFS? I found XFS *far* more stable than ReFS and easier to recover from when challenges arise. Additionally, Microsoft has strict hardware requirements when using any RAID controller and ReFS - deviating from that can cause you to have data loss/corruption (ask me how I know next time we’re together in Prague).  Hey @TylerJurgens , because we are not having Linux in our portfolio and the engineers have too limited knowledge of Linux, so it’s a very bad idea to use XFS if the

Indeed @kristofpoppe , it was a very nice evening with a lot of interaction, interest in all subjects/session s that were given that evening and I must say more or less 15 people is not bad for a small VUG country.With 8 people we ended the evening with a lovely dinner offered by Exagrid : big thx to them for making this possible.Another thx to @vergoted for offering the facilities, it was a perfect place to do this.Thx @jos.maliepaard for being present at our VUG! Looking forward to join a physical event at VUG NL 🤣Last but not least a big thx to @kristofpoppe for doing this togheter with me and doing a lot of things behind the scenes for making this happening and of course thx to @smarivoet for your again splendid session and as cherry on the cake : the one and only @Timothy Dewin being present! Long time no seen. We are looking forward to 2024 to have at least 1 physical event again and at least 1 online event again. We will see how it goes, but everything seems good at this time,

Apologies for this late feedback.In the meanwhile I did what @johnwatson suggested, I created the 3 registry keys and the problem is solved. 1TB has already been uploaded to iDRIVE. Thx much @johnwatson for this suggestion, probably the same issue as with Wasabi.

@dtheo , if you are using Windows proxy VMs, I would recommend to use the core installation and nut the full GUI - more secure and less updates are required

VAW or VBA for 1 VM in Azure to Blob Storage

@dloseke : perhaps an alternative way if you want to use Veeam agents on Azure VMs…Backup to the VCC and setup at the service provider site a seperate VM with VBR (not used for VCC)  intended to restore full VMs to Azure again.This VM has to have access to the VCC repositories so you can then import that backup and perform a direct restore to Azure when adding the Azure account of the customer in that VBR.I hope you understand what I mean.
