Transition from Barracuda 365 to Veeam

I’m afraid, you have to take a full backup using VB365. The backup file format from Barracuda is incompatible with the Veeam backup format. A new initial full backup of the environment seems necessary. copy s3 bucket to different region

Agree on Shane. Not tested myself, but using the S3 browser ( https://s3browser.com/ ) , you’ll be able to copy the full contents of one bucket to another which then can be imported. Not tested on VBR, but tested multiple times with VB365 where we migrated a folder structure to separate buckets using this tool.

Hey immutable repo ISO, do you just ruined my portable drive ?

They’re very cool devices.  I looked at getting one or something like it a while back.  The one I looked at was just the case and software, you supply your own drive and I having a couple of old SSD’s laying around thought I could easily use a 250GB or 500GB SSD would have a fair amount of space for ISO’s, etc.  However, I came across Ventoy so that I could multiboot ISO’s from an on-screen menu and it’s been pretty easy to setup, and was free.  Seems like a pretty good solution and has worked well for me for a year or two now.  However, I still like the drive idea because of the difference in capacity.  Strange about the Hardened Repo ISO, but good to know as I wouldn’t want to have my USB thumb drive reformatted when installing the ISO on a server here in the near future.  I personal like the screen and hardware buttons to select the ISO. Really low level and almost any device I’ve tested with, picks it up as an external drive and boots from it.

Veeam and NAS Repository?

Have a look at QNAP NAS devices. They have QuObjects which enables Object Storage on these devices with immutability supported. Pay attention to the specs. We already had some experience with it and a descent processor and sufficient RAM are necessary. Have a look at the HCL for QNAP on the Veeam website.

VMCE v12 exam review and tips

I can only confirm: Spend enough time on GFS, offloading backups and the different job types. Put yourself some excercises together where you can clearly count how many restore point you’ll end up, where they are located, how many full backups are and where… Drawing it on your draft notes during the exam to have a visual overview of the retention schema really helps.

Feature Request: Backup Rules for Microsoft 365 Backup

Hi @Hussam Afaik not standard possible with the job creation wizard. You could write a powershell script that first fetches the objects witch apply to your specifix query from the M365 environment. Then with this set of objects you could created a job and run it immediatly.

It was only in the past month I looked and saw it on there, but it wasn’t on there with immutability support when I saw it btw.   Gonna be a question for Veeam 😔 Chance I had a screenshot from the previous results. Would like to know the reason why they disappeared.

We’ve implemented it at a customer’s site when very low RTO / RPO requirements for their ERP database were needed. Local setup with 10Gbps connection between hosts with direct attached storage and a decent amount of memory for the proxies does the job.

Hi @Mohamed Raees you mean the move of the backups ?Either you just can copy the files to the new repository and start importing from there.Otherwise when you have your backups on a location which you can easily assign to the new server, you can start importing the backups as soon as they’re attached to the new server. https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/vsphere/importing_backups.html?ver=120
