Good day all,Hostnames and IPs are ficticious, just to protect my environmentCase:N.B. Primary veeam server was off during the config restoration. Both servers can resolve hostnames to IP, full communication between sites/on WAN, same domain as well.I used (Site1) primary veeam server “veeamserver1” backed up .bco file and restored it to (site 2) secondary veeam server. “veeamserver2” After restoration on veeamserver2, RED X came up on both hosts and repositories. On veeamserver 2, I did a rescan on on hosts and i got error(all hosts) for below:-Error - [Serverhost1] Disks and volumes discovery failed Error: Access is denied. Hi all,I’m currently running Ubuntu 20.04.6 in a Server 2012 R2 Hyper-V VM. Veeam B&R CE 12 is installed on the VM host, which is scheduled to backup the VM every so often. I’ve been struggling for quite awhile now trying to troubleshoot some instability in the VM. It appears that applications start crashing following a Veeam backup opeartion on the VM. Multiple different applications will seg fault, including systemd. In doing this troubleshooting, while watching journalctl, I see several I/O related errors scroll by during a Veeam backup:Oct 16 16:12:43 ubuntush multipathd[600]: sdc: path already removedOct 16 16:12:42 ubuntush multipathd[600]: uevent trigger errorOct 16 16:12:20 ubuntush multipath[16675]: sdc: can't store path infoOct 16 16:12:19 ubuntush kernel: sd 0:0:1:0: [sdc] Attached SCSI diskOct 16 16:12:19 ubuntush kernel: sdc: detected capacity change from 167772160 to 0Oct 16 16:12:19 ubuntush kernel: sd 0:0:1:0: [sdc] 4096-byte physical blocksOct 16 16:12:19 ubuntush
Hi All,Occasionally there are a few Windows replica VMs that come up 169.x on NIC 0 during boot. They are VCD enabled replicas. We are using VLAN direct mapping without NSX in this case. Job network mappings are set and functional. 95% of them boot as they should. The few that come up with an APIPPA address will obtain the correct IP *if* I go to the NIC config in VCD for the VM and disable NIC 0, add NIC 1 and set to static pool along with the VLAN. (connected, primary). This has been tested as repeatable across reboots once it’s been changed in VCD. I took a look at the VMX and the Veeam statements look correct as far as I can tell. PCI ID also matches. This doesn’t seem to be limited to a single VCD Org. Troubleshooting I’ve tried so far, Update VM tools to the latest. Review device manager for ghosted adapters. Add a second NIC (works)I’m wondering if anyone else has bumped into this and what the findings were if so. TIA
Hello,I am trying to do a bare metal recovery of a physical windows server 2019.First, I have created a recovery media from the agent backup, then mounted that .iso on the Dell Idrac9 and tried to boot form virtual CD/DVD/ISO, but it’s getting stuck at the windows logo screen.I have also tried to boot from the same iso on a VM just to test. This time, it worked, the veeam console came up and I got all the options for restoration. But on the physical server, it’s not working. Please let me know where I am going wrong. I have attached the screenshot of the stuck screen. Thank you.
One of my customer wants to take backup there 40 Oracle Cloud VMs using Veeam. Is it possible to take the backup using Veeam? Thank youShaokat

IntroductionIn the first of 4 blog posts of this [Migrate Veeam Infrastructure Off Production Domain series], we described the fundamental security reasons behind moving the Veeam infrastructure components OFF Production domain. In this blog post, we will provide step by step guidance for moving a Veeam Backup and Replication™ (VBR) infrastructure off the Production Domain onto a Backup Workgroup. Disclaimer: This is not intended to be a complete Security Best practice reference, nor does it address every possible scenario. A Veeam Solutions Architect can be engaged as needed to assist with VBR Security Best Practices, especially with complex deployments.Setup The scenario is comprised of the following servers:A Production Domain Controller / DNS server 2 ESX hosts and 1 vCenter Veeam Backup and Replication server (VBR) with local PostgreSQL database Veeam Enterprise Manager server (VBEM) with local PostgreSQL database Veeam Gateway server Veeam Mount server Veeam ONE server Veeam Pro

I have a customer who is using Veeam to migrate some VMs from one Vcenter environment to another. He has set up two virtual proxies, one on the source Vcenter and a second on the Destination Vcenter. Each Proxy VM has 24GB of RAM and 16 vCPU’s. He has set Max concurrent tasks to 20 on both proxies and has a green check mark on that. He set up a job with multiple VM’s with each VM having 2 disks. The job is only processing a max of 4 VM’s at at time. I am thinking it should be able to do at least 10 VM’s (10 x 2 disks = 20 concurrent tasks). Do VM replication jobs use more concurrent tasks than a single task per disk?
Being new to VEEAM, I might be troubleshooting problem that's trivial for VEEAM experts. On Veeam 12.2 and vCenter 8.0.3, my problem is ESXi hosts having multiple networks which causes Veeam's confusion. There's management network and there's vMotion network. The hosts in vCenter are defined as follows:The problem is, Veeam isn't able to back up a single VM. The log is full of these errors:22.10.2024 11:17:51.481] < 1436> vdl | [vddk] CnxOpenTCPSocket: Cannot connect to server 172.16.0.13:902: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond[22.10.2024 11:17:51.481] < 1436> vdl | [vddk] CnxAuthdConnect: Returning false because CnxAuthdConnectTCP failed[22.10.2024 11:17:51.481] < 1436> vdl | [vddk] CnxConnectAuthd: Returning false because CnxAuthdConnect failed[22.10.2024 11:17:51.481] < 1436> vdl | [vddk] Cn

Hi! I was studying more details about Veeam's Backup as a Service (Baas) service, the Data Cloud for Microsoft 365, and I noticed that Veeam provides, free of charge, a tool that performs a quick assessment in the Microsoft 365 environment and presents information and insights. The tool's name is Veeam Insights for Microsoft 365.The tool can consolidate the number of active and inactive licenses, which allows you to save money by directing inactive licenses to other employees or simply reducing the contracted quantity. Additionally, it provides visibility into overall storage levels, including the number of files in use on OneDrive and Sharepoint, and shows which users are consuming the most storage. It also presents an Outlook activity graph showing the number of messages sent and received. The period for this information can be customized. The best part? If you're not performing the backup, you can easily onboard Microsoft 365 with a click on the Veeam Data Cloud. The process is desig
If your company is a Value-Added Reseller (VAR) and/or a Managed Service Provider (MSP), I recommend reading the just released “Third Annual Direction of Technology Ecosystem Report” from TD Synnex. This survey was conducted with +1000 Channel Partners from April to June 2024. Five main channel partners´ trends were revealed, and I want to highlight some interesting insights:✅ Channels are prioritizing specific professional skills in their hiring processes: consulting (43%) and managed services (37%).✅ They say the top four solutions they plan to offer include: security (49%), AI/GenAI (44%), hybrid cloud (39%), and networking (38%).✅ AI is reshaping the channel´s offerings; in the next 12 months, more than half expect to offer GenAI (52%) and AI Services (48%). They plan to provide AI/GenAI from 14% in 2022 to 44% in 2024, a 214% increase.IMO, it´s clear that providing AI and GenAI solutions and services is essential for VARs and MSPs as these technologies enhance their value proposit
Hello guys,I need your help to find the best way to configure longterm retention for a NAS backup.Job selection different folders (Around 10TB of datas)Target Repository : ReFSCurrent retention keep all version for the last : 30 days No Archive Secondary Repository : Dell DataDomain, same retention as sourceMy customer want a bigger retention like 6 months or more.I looking the best way to do this with the less impact on the repository space. Unfortunately we can’t create GFS point for NAS BackupSolution 1 : Set the primary retention to 6 month or more, impact I will have an increment every day for the time periodSolution 2: Create a second job with the same selection but schedule it once a month, impact I ll have two full backups and I have no idea if it could work porperly.I take every idea 😁I forgot ! We currently export this backup to tape once a week too, so we could keep certain tapes as a monthly but the process to restore take a lot of time, tape management … you know
I have a Synology NAS with about 10 TB of data, and I need to set up a real-time replication that runs every 15 minutes to my own server (no cloud solutions involved). Additionally, I need to implement a failover and failback mechanism in case the NAS goes down or needs maintenance.I want to ensure that:The data is replicated every 15 minutes. I can perform a failover to my server if the NAS is unavailable. I can easily failback to the NAS once it's back online, keeping data consistent. Can someone guide me through the best practices or the proper steps to configure this using Veeam Backup & Replication? If there are any other recommended Veeam tools or methods that fit this scenario, I'd appreciate the advice! Thanks in advance!
Hello everyone,I am looking for advice on how to manage a migration from a VMWare host to a Hyper-V host while maintaining backups continuity under Veeam B&R 12.2 with only 2 sockets licensed. BackgroundWe have decided to move from VMWare to Hyper-V. Our environment is small and it makes solid economic sense over the lifetime of the current Windows Server edition. The Windows Server licensing was bought before Veeam expanded support to other hypervisors, so Proxmox VE was not in scope for this move. We have timed our migration to coincide with a hardware refresh, so we will move from a two-host ESXi setup (VMWare VSphere Essentials with Veeam managing replication to the second host) to a two-host Hyper-V setup. Again, we intend to use Veeam to manage replication because Windows Server Hyper-V Replication is constrictive compared to the options we have under Veeam, for our risk profile. There are 18 VMs in scope for the move. The bulk of the data is approximately 50TB of data fr
Hello,I was wondering if some of you have already try to play with immutable repository for backup job in Veeam for M365 v8.I want to try the governance mode but I not sure how to test it properly…I use a Wasabi bucket set with versioning and immuability. In Veeam I created my repository with the following parameters My backup worked properly Now I want to test the immutability. But I'm not sure to how to proceed. In wasabi console I tried to delete the bucket directly, I got the message: Okay, I decided to delete the Veeam folder and tadammm the folder has been deletedThe bucket should be empty so I relaunch my job, I though to have a new Full backup, but no. Veeam create an incremental… Strange….Now I want to try to delete some data from Veeam but except with powershell it’s not possible.I’m looking a cmdlet to delete all sites in my repository.
