The Task at Hand, or the problem to solveAs a service provider that is actively growing our BaaS offering, one major source or growth is Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365.  While it’s relatively easy to understand rental license consumption when backing up VM’s (number of projected workloads * points per license utilized), figuring out how many licenses consumed in VB365 is much more difficult on the surface because, depending on how you’ve selected your objects to be backed up from Microsoft 365 such as selection via groups, you clearly can protect many more objects than you’ve manually selected and consume more licenses.  And some objects don’t consume licenses.  If you have a dedicated VB365 server for each Organization, perhaps this would be easier.  But in my case, we have a single VB365 server orchestrating backups for multiple organizations/tenants.  But I need to know how many licenses I’m consuming per Org so that I know how much to bill them, or to make sure they’re within the c

In this short guide, I will highlight the steps to upgrade Veeam Backup and Replication v12.3.x to 12.3.2. This update for 12.3.2 (Build 12.3.2.3617) was released June 17, 2024). As many of you are aware, VMware has basically tossed the SMB market to the wayside the past several mos (at least imo they have). Since then, Veeam has been listening to its customers regarding what other hypervisors they are looking at to transition to away from the Broadcom behemoth. Some made their voices heard on the Forums, asking for Proxmox support ; and some made requests for XCP-NG support.  Veeam answered the call for Proxmox lovers, going GA with a Proxmox Plugin in August 2024 (announcement in May 2024). Recently I shared a post on how to set up Veeam HA in the VDP v13 BETA preview. In this post I’ll walk you through how to perform a Switchover and Failover operation to the 2nd VBR node. There are no pre-requisites per se’ before performing the steps listed below, except for the HA enable configuration steps I shared in my Part 1 post. Many of my customers (luckily) are using Sure Backups. Some of the subnets are also quite small (i.e., smaller than /24). When configuring the network settings in the Virtual Lab wizard, there is a little problem which can easily be handled. Veeam automatically inserts the appropriate letters for masking in the masquerading network.For example, if you configure a /24 network, the wizard inserts a “D” in the fourth octet. This is correct and must be done this way. The situation is different if the subnet is smaller. For example, if you have a /25 network and enter it in the wizard, the fourth octet of the masquerading network no longer displays a letter, but the number of the subnet mask. To avoid this, simply click on the fourth octet of the masquerading network and enter a “0”. When you try to install or upgrade the Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager 12.1, it might fail to create a website, and the error code is 0x80070020.  You can follow the instructions to open the logs folder and try to check the cause of the issues. The folder path is C:\ProgramData\Veeam\Setup\Temp.  I noticed the error message: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process. Failed to create website. Hello All, I have recently encountered an issue with the Veeam Self restore portal being unavailable after upgrading the VSPC console server version. We have the Web UI and Console Server roles deployed in a distributed architecture.Initially, when clicking on the File Level Restore portal, it would redirect to URL "/Connectors/VeeamAgentsSelfServicePortal" and then return to the VSPC main portal. What I found initially was that the VeeamAgentsSelfServicePortal Application Pool was missing from IIS sites, and I had to recreate the pool to resolve the page loading error. Hi Veeam Community, I have seen many questions (and experienced a few issues myself) when deploying Veeam Backup for Google Cloud (VBGC) in production environments. Most of these could have been avoided with some pre-deployment checks. So, I wanted to share a quick checklist that might help others save time and frustration. 1️: Service Account Preparation Create a dedicated Service Account (SA) in GCP. Assign all required IAM roles/permissions for each project you plan to back up. Test SA access via the VBGC diagnostics tab — all checks should show "Passed" before deployment.  2️: Quota Review Check CPU, disk, and instance quotas for each region where VBGC will deploy worker instances. Adjust quotas in advance if you plan to use higher-spec worker profiles (e.g., upgrading from e2-highcpu-8 to n2-highmem-16).  3️: Network & Access Ensure VBGC and worker instances can access the internet when needed (especially during updates and temporary VM deployment). Long-time reader, first-time poster. I thought I’d document my initial experience with Vault from a Veeam Cloud Service Provider (VCSP) perspective, to share the journey with others who may be heading down the same path and to highlight a few gotchas. As with anything new, your mileage may vary and subject to change. We started with a Backup as a Service customer who wanted to use vendor-backed cloud storage. They had spoken to Veeam, were happy with the offering, and it was something we were planning to explore anyway as an alternative to Wasabi. Gotcha #1 – As of writing, VCSPs cannot consume Vault through the VCSP programme and must instead purchase it as a “traditional transaction” through distribution (at least here in New Zealand). What became clearer later in the journey was that there’s a restriction in the VCSP programme requiring the provider to purchase and “own” the storage subscription. I wanted to post this for everyone who uses VB365 and PGBouncer with Postgres with the recent upgrade 8.1.2.180.When trying to run this upgrade I ran in to an issue with the following error which was caused by connecting to Postgres via the PBBouncer 6432 port.  I had to stop services, modify the XML files back to 5432 (default PG port) and then run the upgrade.  Once complete I could then revert back to 6432 for PGBouncer and start up the services again.Error seen during upgrade -
