VMCE 2023 Exam Experience

Have a question about VMCE Is it still mandatory to do training with an instructor before being able to take the exam? I believe if you have the previous one VMCE2022 you don’t have to take the training. I believe that’s correct.  However, if you’ve never passed the VMCE in the past, I believe you still have to take the training (which I’ve now done twice).  I’d better go take that test this time!  I think generally Veeam follows the same rules as VMware with the VCP exams, where you can update without a class but if you get too old, then you have to take the class again.   Great thanks. That is what I thought.

Toronto Public Library service offline until 2024 :(

I believe it is as mentioned about for extortion purposes. I don’t think many script kiddies are doing this. Mainly organised crime and bad state actors. The goal is mainly to get paid, although there is the disruption affect (in the case of state actors). Hopefully yet another wake up call. Just my humble opinion but such a long outage means that the DR plan was not well setup. Most likely due to lack of funds or not properly channelling funds. Speculation of course. I’d agree. Funding will definitely be a factor as well

Querying for a list of tapes in a library that are FULL

Hi @MikeLeone  I’m not even sure if that will be possible with Veeam. Currently with Veeam you have an option to eject the tape once the job has completed.  https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/vsphere/ejecting_tapes.html?ver=120 The other option would be to query the Veeam Database to determine the status of the tape. This might be useful: https://forums.veeam.com/powershell-f26/get-tape-content-via-powershell-t22142-60.html You could then eject the tape depending on the status you get back. The script is quite old, from version 9.5. I’ve not tested it so your milage may vary.  Cheers, Dips Thanks! Interesting hacker. Why attack the library not a business company??? I don’t think they will get money from the library. The library won’t care when will re-open. 😀 For some groups, they are ransoming the data rather than the actual infrastructure itself. Others are two-pronged. Exfiltrate the data, ransom the infrastructure and then hold the data they got to ransom and threaten to release unless the organisation pays.

Query: Setting up Automatic Power-Off After Veeam Backup Completion

Another option you can try, would be to query the status of the jobs and if there are no jobs running, shutdown the server. You could use PowerShell to query the job statushttps://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/powershell/get-vbrsession.html?ver=120The downside is that you would need to run the check at given intervals, so possibly as a Scheduled task with a user account that has the bare minimum of permissions to be able to shutdown the server and nothing more.

veeam backup and replication console don´t open no message error

Hi @EurysPerez  Welcome to the Community.  I would get this logged with Veeam Support to have a look into this for you.  Additionally, you can install the Console on another workstation/server that is able to talk to your VBR instance and connect that way.  Have a look at the link below: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/vsphere/backup_console.html?ver=120 hi, thanks we installed on another workstation and happen the same it close rapidly, i have to mention that we been trough a problem in our network with several macflap affecting the entire network, that just damage some of the virtual machines and i wanted to restore but veeam backup console still dont open, a need help badly i open a case on veeam but im waiting for support, we try the renaming system.properties and still the same Are you able to access the Veeam backup files from your storage repository? On a fresh VM install Veeam Community Edition, i

AI meets API - would you chat with your backup server? (feedback wanted)

This is brilliant @benyoung My thougths:Would you use this sort of thing, and what types of data would you want to see?  Yes what questions would you ask it? ​​​​​​​More info on the VMS being backed up by a job. For example, ‘Can you tell me which VMs are being backed up by this particular job?’ Alternatively, ‘Is this VM being backed up by any particular job?’ ‘Can you tell me which job is going to be starting next?’ Would you let this automate tasks? i.e start/stop jobs, modify jobs, create repositories? ​​​​​​​Possibly only to Start jobs. Unless only certain people are able to make changes to jobs and there is an audit trail available Would you want it to generate anything for you? code? diagrams? ​​​​​​​Perhaps CLI commands that can be used to automate jobs A topology of what is connected to the VBR, as an example Cheers, Dipen
