Everyone wants to be prepared in the best way before taking an exam. And while studying the official materials and hands-on experience are essential for passing a test, practice exams are a good way of finding out which areas you still need to focus. What’s important to note is that practice exams never contain real questions from an actual exam. They might look similar but are made up and different from those you would see during the exam. Examples can be found here in the Community, like the ones published by @coolsport00 or @haslund Real questions are often called “braindumps” and are falsely advertised as study material, while they are actually forbidden by most (if not all) exam providers, including Veeam, and are counted as cheating. For example here’s what the VMCE exam guide states: We protect the security and integrity of our certifications. Cheating and misconduct is prohibited. Candidates who commit misconduct may: have test scores revoked have credentials revoked be banne

UNIX on the test!

Yes! It comes up a lot on the test (my experience and that of a colleague) I had the opportunity to work with both platforms for a long time, and I'll share some things here. It's an extremely noble workload and many mission-critical clients use it. For more than three decades, organizations have trusted IBM AIX. It's no wonder that the robustness of this technology is recognized worldwide. As for the SOLARIS side, the security and uptime for client databases and Java workloads with Oracle Solaris operating systems. Tips from exam takers

Hi all, I took the VMCA 2024 exam this week and passed. My exam was NOT based on one central scenario but each question got a small introduction, setting the scene description of an environment, company,… And then based on this description you got your question. Other thoughts: Learn the details: some questions are really into details of functionality. Without studying, these questions are hard if you’re not confronted with them in your day to day interaction with Veeam prodcuts. The Rasmus’ videos are very helpfull. Altough they’re getting outdated (direct to object storage was not possible yet during these videos) Use ‘reverse logic’ and decimate the answers of the multiple choice that you think are totally wrong in this case. It makes it easier to make a selection of correct answers.

Unofficial VMCA v12 Study Guide

Happy Wednesday Community! If you follow the VMCA Study Hall page, you know I recently shared I just passed my v12 VMCA 2024 exam. In the post, I shared several good tips on what to expect on the exam, to coincide with a similar post from a few mos ago. During my studies, as I normally do, I created an outline of all the Sections and Topics listed in the Veeam VMCA Exam Guide , and I thought the Community would benefit from it. To my knowledge, there has never been a usable Guide created for any Veeam exams (honestly, with the extense of information required to know, it would really be too long...at least for the VMCE), so I thought I’d make this one available for you all to download/use. I was also able to get additional information from Veeam trainers to add to my Guide regarding explicit topics covered on the exam. I provide these items at the end of the Guide. Though they are not listed on the Veeam VMCA Exam Guide, I was told the information is provided to attendees of the v12 VMC

My experience with the VMCA 2024 certification

The new Veeam Certified Architect certification format presents sizing and architecture scenarios, and I liked it, although it is more challenging than the previous format. I passed the exam in January 2024, shortly after Veeam made the exam available. “The VMCA 2024 demonstrates the knowledge and expertise required to design, deploy, and optimize data protection architecture with Veeam Backup & Replication. Holders of the VMCA 2024 can be trusted to design large-scale/enterprise deployments and manage multiple customers in on-site, off-site, and hybrid environments. The VMCA 2024 demonstrates a high level of knowledge.” I recommend carefully studying the official training material and carrying out the exam simulation provided by Veeam. As many of you know, the VMCA v12 exam has been out for some time now but there was no “official” course to attend prior to taking the exam. Well today that changes as Veeam has announced the VMCA v12 course is now available. It is a 3 day course that will focus on the topics needed to help you achieve your VMCA v12. Currently it shows on the Partner Portal here - Veeam Certified Architect (VMCA) The main site is not updated just yet but I am sure it will be soon - Get Veeam Certified Now! VMCA2024 (v12) Achieved!

Yesterday afternoon I finally took on the daunting task some of you have already done and attempted the VMCA2024 exam. Uhh...wow. Difficult! But thankfully, I passed! Yahooo! Thought I’d chime in on my exam experience like what was done a few months ago (see below) 👇🏻 I would say, from a high-level, this is more like an advanced VMCE exam, but obviously with design knowledge required. As what was shared in the above post, there is no long, single customer case/requirements/environment you then answer questions off of. As such, I was curious what exactly the questions would be like. Well, I’ll give you some more detail here to ease your mind just a bit, but of course all within the NDA. 😏 Some questions are simply a sentence or 2. I would say more than half...maybe even 60-65% are only 1-2 sentence-long questions. THANK HEAVENS! I will also say, at least on my exam, there were no questions that were multiple paragraphs long, either. But, I probably had close to 10?.. that were severa

VMware virtual Proxy CPU limit?

Hey there Community - I know in VMCA exam’s past, there was a limit to the amount of vCPUs you could use for VMware VM Proxies due to a “stop” concern (forgot the exact issue). Is this still a problem, and if so...do you know where the documentation is which discusses this? I can’t seem to find anything in the Guides or BP Guide. I think I do have it somewhere in a previous VMCA class “handbook”. I’ll post back the statement(s) when I find it. Thanks.

You Make the Design Cloud or not to Cloud

Brand Building is a Multinational corporation with 10 data centers in North America. The backup Team is located in Boston, and they remotely administer all of the local VBR servers in each DC, which are also members of the production AD. They have fast, secure connections between sites and use Enterprise Manager to manage all of their sites. This also allows them to allocate certain roles to local users. Each location has a tape drive and they have been doing local backup to tape jobs for DR. These tapes are later moved to secure storage outside of the Data Centers but not more than 20KM away. They have a legal requirement to keep Monthly full backups for 7 years Their local repositories are all NTFS on Windows servers. After completing an audit, they are aware that they must increase their protection against ransomware. They would like to replace the local repositories with secure ones. The would also like to add Cloud backups for more redundancy. However, they are worried about extra

Introducing "You make the Design" Series

Hey Folks, As announced during the VMCA Study Group Show with Razvan Ionescu, we are starting a new series here called “You Make the Design”. Everybody is welcome to participate and get involved. As we discussed during the show, the VMCA exam is conceptually different from the VMCE. The standard questions-and-answers approach to studying is perhaps not the best way to prepare for it. Instead, practicing the work of an actual architect makes more sense. Anyone can provide a “Customer Scenario” here, and then we can all provide our versions or simply discuss the pros and cons of the solutions provided. Meet the Architect Maurice Kevenaar! Mr. Hackathon!

Today we have Mr. Hackathon 1 (since there is another Hacker out there as well, more on that later). Maurice Kevenaar! Geoff: How did your career in IT start? Did you have a plan B? Maurice: My career in IT was spoon-fed. When I was 5, I somehow ended up in the “basic” prompt on our MSX game computer. My dad gave me “The Basic Cookbook”, telling me I could type in the words in a specific font and press F5 to run the code. Some years later, he had a VAX/VMS mainframe terminal on our kitchen table. I asked if I could also have a “screen”. I got an account, and my dad started to send me emails via the terminal. Ten minutes later, I sent emails back to him. Computers have always been part of our household. The oldest I can remember was an IBM computer with Windows 3.1. There has never been a plan B. Hi Everyone, Today we have an extra special meet the architect. Fabian Kessler was also part of the inaugural class of Veeam Legends and like many from that group has seen his career sky rocket. Known on the R&D forums as Mildur, he came to prominence by being one of the most, if not the most powerful R&D forums member ever. Hi folks, VeeamON was hectic, and for the first time ever, I experienced the lead-up to VeeamON for companies that participate in it. In short, a full-time job is a euphemism.
