VMCA2024 (v12) Achieved!

Yesterday afternoon I finally took on the daunting task some of you have already done and attempted the VMCA2024 exam. Uhh...wow. Difficult! But thankfully, I passed! Yahooo!

Thought I’d chime in on my exam experience like what was done a few months ago (see below) 👇🏻

I would say, from a high-level, this is more like an advanced VMCE exam, but obviously with design knowledge required.  As what was shared in the above post, there is no long, single customer case/requirements/environment you then answer questions off of. As such, I was curious what exactly the questions would be like. Well, I’ll give you some more detail here to ease your mind just a bit, but of course all within the NDA. 😏

Some questions are simply a sentence or 2. I would say more than half...maybe even 60-65% are only 1-2 sentence-long questions. THANK HEAVENS! I will also say, at least on my exam, there were no questions that were multiple paragraphs long, either. But, I probably had close to 10?.. that were several sentences in length stating a situation, requirements, etc. then you had to determine the best answer off the info given. Some took you down a rabbit trail I would say, and I felt like I’d have no time to finish the exam 😂 But be rest assured...there are enough “short” questions to where you’ll be able to get going. Just take those longer questions in stride and keep moving. You’ll get into a rhythm. 👍🏻 On some of the longer questions, I would suggest to be patient with them. Trust your studying; and just keep going. At the very least mark it for review and come back to it when you don’t feel so rushed. BTW, yes...you should have some time for a good post-exam Review before final submission. I had 50 minutes or so left myself.

As far as content...well, obviously can’t share specifics there, but as was stated in the above shared post, focus on the VMCA Blueprint. I also recommend looking over features you rarely or do not use. If something is mentioned on the Blueprint you don’t use, obviously you should spend more time on it. And don’t just review the item(s) with a “VMCE-like mentality”, but from a design mentality. Re-review areas you are familiar with. Review the VMCA videos from Rasmus. Don’t just look at what he selected as answers, but why he selected those answers. I will say that could possibly be a key to passing this exam. For example, you may not really know what’s going on in a question, but when you look at the possible answer options, try and deduce what is completely wrong or “off” in the choices offered. Then you’ll have a higher percentage to mark the correct option, if not being left with only one that isn’t “off” and thus probably correct. That helped me on a few questions at least.

Overall I think it took me 4-6wks to study and prepare. Some of my time I got delayed because...well...I have to work during the day 😂 Study how what works best for you and you should come out on top of this exam. Oh, and as with the v12 VMCE I took last Winter, the v12 VMCA score report isn’t instantly given, so again I had to sweat bullets for 5 additional minutes after “ending exam”. 😬😂 Thankfully, I first received my new badge notification from Veeam, then the score report availability email from Pearson.

Hope the above info helps you all out. For those looking to take this exam in the near future...good luck! 🙌🏻

Great to see you passed Shane.  The blueprint is a must for this one since it has the links to sections for review.  That is what helped me on my second try to get past this one and improve almost 200 points for score.  😎

Shane, Congrats!

I passed the VMCA 2 years ago but I had to try twice. Sometime I thought that multiple scenarios / solutions were possible that’s why I can tell that this was one of my hardest exams…

I will go for the current VMCA soon...let’s see!

Again, congrats, well done!
