If you were creating your very own Veeam training course what would you include, what would you focus on? If you have sat the VMCE training already, what you add more of or remove? What do you think are the essentials, that everyone should know about when working with Veeam?
I think a lot of customers will plan to migrate their existing repositories (NTFS, ReFS) to a new XFS repository with immutability in v11. I am curious about the options you see to migrate backup files to a new XFS repository. I have already said goodbye to the idea, block-linked (block clone (ReFS), reflink (XFS)) data can be copied without dehydration. A nice way is to put a new repository into place and let the old one(s) fade out. But how to move long-term backup? How do you migrate backup repositories?
Hi floks, does anyone use a Nimble HF40 as backup target for Veeam. So backup repository is configured als LUN formated with ReFS. We face really bad performance during tape jobs. After all it seems, Nimble Storage is not able to deliver more than 380 MB/s. With one tape drive configured to a job, the calculated processing rate within this job is 152 MB/s. Really bad performance...
Is there any ready tool to calculate how many proxy do I need in my backup environment?
Just though about 2 feature request, I would forward to my local Veeam account manager. Would be interested in your opinions. Or maybe there is already a practicable workaround.Change transport mode per backup/replication jobs This would make it easier to use a more suitable mode for selected VMs. For example it can result in better duration time when a lot of small VMs are backed up by NBD. Pre-View of selected VMs When selecting Folder/Tags/[new in v11]Tag Combination as backup source, it would be very useful to see all VMs that would be included at the press of a button. What do you think?
If you love a great technical presentation (with a lot of whiteboarding!) then don’t miss out this session by @jorge.delacruz and Alex Fraser on pros and cons of different backup strategies.
I’d like to spread the word about this new program among my team and my larger network. Are there plans in place to have some form of a ‘referral’ function, whereby I can send invites out?I could see it being both a way to build membership, and also incentivize deeper engagement in the members who’ve already joined this community.Just a thought/suggestion, take it or leave it.
I used to use Veeam since late 2014, I always try to find some ways to enhance my usage. Here are some features I thought might be interested if added in the future releases:1- SureBackup: SureBackup is one of the features made me choose Veeam in the first place. But while configuring it, I found that I need to choose specific VM to work on specific host. I thought that it will be good if SureBackup went cluster-aware to choose VM and host randomly every time it runs.2- Proxies:Once I started to backup VMs located on vSAN storage, I was told to use proxy server to work as a virtual appliance in order to complete a successful backup job without "doubling" the size. However, I needed to create a proxy on each and every host on my cluster. Now Veeam supports linux proxies but the problem with me that the number of proxies on my cluster as my environment expands. Is there any way in the future to use a single or couple of proxies to work with all cluster?
Hi Veeam Community, Please let us know what topics you want covered in Veeam University training?
Is there any future vision to automate the remediation workflow right from VeeamOne?
Throughout these years, I have been to many talks and events of Veeam, I have given many VMCE courses, and a lot has happened to me on this side in South America, the customers did not use Surebackup or Surereplica, they have told me that they did not know that they could use it, among other answers. And I think it is one of the most important features that Veeam has . Has it happened to you? I would like to read them …
I just read @Gostev ‘s R&D Forums Digest. He talks about LTO9 support in Veeam and new tape-features in v11 like tape cloning. So I thought it could be interesting to read about the changed/adjusted LTO roadmap:https://blocksandfiles.com/2020/09/10/lto-changes-tape-roadmap-strategy-cuts-capacity-to-build-air-gapped-ransomware-defence-storage/For short: LTO does not provide double-sizing its capacity from generation to generation any more. Also speed does not scale that much from now on.
There’s been some awesome content announced today. From Microsoft Teams support to the love for Linux in Veeam B&R v11. What stole the show for you? I’ll start, this little hint on the v11 page: Looks like we’re finally going to see CDP hit production!
Join me on November 20th at 12pm GMT | 1pm CET to learn everything you need to protect your backups against ransomware, just 15 minutes, tapas size. Hope to see you all there! https://go.veeam.com/chalkboard-war-against-ransomwareLooking forward to see you all there :)
Hi,I will change my vm’s hosting to use SCVMM.I don’t find page which explain the advantages to have SCVMM with veeam.I understand we have tags and, but I’m not sure, a live migration of a VM don’t affect backup chain. Is not it ?What is the bests practices to configure relationship between Veeam and SCVMM ? Sorry for my english.Have a good day !
Hello, when I do a restore of a whole mailbox via the VEEAM Explorer for Exchange I get a resut window with some statistics at the top of the windows - x items created successfully, y items skipped and so on.Below of this there is table where all handled items are listed. But for all of them the status is “Success”, so you cannot see which item was skipped and which one was created and so on.I think it would be useful when the status were a little bit informative. For example like in the picture below...Do I miss a place were I can get this kind of information? I see in the log of the job is some of this, but I think it would be much easier to access the information directly in the result window. What do you think? Is this a useful topic to address it to VEEAM development?
My good friend Rasmus Haslund has posted his unofficial practice exam https://rasmushaslund.com/vmce-practice-exam for the VMCE 2020, check it out and let me know what you think. Do you know of any other good VMCE practice exams that you can recommend?
