Title says it all Got a customer who advises they are running Windows dedupe on the local OS, and I can see the backup copy job is getting really poor compression on the VM. Anyone else have customers doing this and seeing similar results? ExampleSource VM data size = 868 GB Source VM VBK file = 863 GB
A customer uses the copy function for capacity tier to instantly copy on-premises Veeam backups (retention of 30 days) to object storage. They’ve configured object lock on the object storage (60 days) that has a duration longer than the local backup policy. As Veeam cannot delete a backup in object storage at 30 days, will it delete it after the object lock expires (60 days) or does the customer need to manually delete the files on object storage?My thoughts are Veeam will clean up those files once the the 60 day lock has expired, but got me scratching my head for sure

We want to try and keep the cadence realistic and achievable, so we’re planning to hold quarterly virtual meetings and ending the year with an in-person event. Can anyone point me in the direction of a best practices/recommended process for doing maintenance on VBO repos, for example doing hardware maintenance on the VBO repo server, and want to move the data to another storage location, either temporarily or permanent migration?Seem to be running into a lot of Jetdb errors, after we tried to figure out the best process
At the recent VeeamOn Tour, held in London, I was lucky enough to be asked to sit on a Veeam Vanguard panel, to talk about the topic of data security, which led to the question "Everyone should have a recovery plan, but how do you ensure it is reliable?". Well yes and no…it's not always the usual suspects. Everyone would immediately point to production data as their most valuable data, and it's not wrong. It just there's more to valuable data than just production data.Companies need to be able to take that step back from production and look at their data estate holistically. Yes we want production data/systems protected, up and running ASAP, but what about data/systems that are with upstream or downstream from production data?For exampl

As we look to relaunch the UK Veeam User Group, we have an eye on later this year about organising an in person event. We’re keep to gather peoples interest and preferred locations for this event. Saw discussions around this subject elsewhere, and thought it would be good to get the community’s thoughts around the subject. WIth direct to object now possible in v12, would you continue to use/recommend BCJ leveraging Veeam Cloud Connect Backup repository (with Insider Protection) or would you switch to BCJ to off-prem object storage (leverage immutability).Keen to hear peoples pros/cons. anyone have experience with SOBR using a de-dupe device , then offloading to capacity tier ?so local backups landing in performance tier of SOBR, but then moved/copied to capacity tier, best practise is to disable Veeam inline de-dupe, so when moving/copying data to capacity tier, is de-dupe still disabled?
has anyone used the VBR built in file explorer to move large amounts of data, talking over 300TB?If the transfer is interrupted, does it resume the file transfer?
Can’t find anything specific about this, but have to assume when using the COPY mode, Veeam uses some work space to extract/hold the data blocks before copying to the Capacity tier?
