Interesting it happened on physical machines, but the OS is installed by the ISO as well as hardened deployment and configs, so kinda makes sense.@Rick Vanover ...ping’ing you here so you’re aware. I know “something” (an update?) to the ISO is coming soon...like maybe at VeeamON. Thought you should be aware of this issue if you weren’t already.

Do you recall any “fixes” Support has helped you with in the past? Best bet is to contact Veeam Support to see what this is/was, so you can remove it.

It’s Friday, so it’s question answer reveal day!It appears I stumped a couple of you on this one. Veeam Scan Backup is a feature to only scan VMs, not applications. Because of this, option 2 is not the correct answer. The key to the question is the fact the VM looking to be scanned is Linux OS. Regardless of how the VM is to be scanned, although for this question it’s to be done using the Scan Backup feature, any scan (Secure Restore, Surebackup job) can only be done on Windows VMs…...for now. Linux will be supported “soon”, as shared by PMs in the Forums. As I’m on the Customer side and never get asked this kind of question, I can only provide what I would “think” would be appropriate, with a balance between “current’ restore points to ‘quickly’ restore from and viable long-term retention to be able to recover in the event of some mishap.Personally, I’d go with your middle option Craig. A week’s worth for short-term is generally the timeframe of an org’s “operational restore window”; and, the 4Ws, 3Ms, 1Y gives the biz a good amount of long-term points from which to recover, without utilizing too much storage...assuming they’d be implementing a block clone filesystem.Good question!

Yes you can, but please be aware of Limitations when you use a setup like you’re wanting. Main issue will be backup job speed, because when you use the same Linux server as both Repository as well as Proxy, you’re limited to NBD (network) mode as your only supported transport mode.
